Obscure: The Aftermath

The game's biggest flaw is that the gameplay, despite the multi-character approach, feels dated.

Obscure the Aftermath is an above average PSP game and should be picked up by horror enthusiasts and gamers who enjoy multiplayer via ad hoc.

This game is pretty cool to play, but got camera issues and a buggy control scheme. The story, setting and sphere are a lot better than before. This game got a lot of issues but also a lot of good points to play. A nice title, noting less and nothing more.

All in all, Obscure: The Aftermath isn’t a bad game. The combination of horror and college humour works fine and the action is interrupted at regular intervals with puzzles and minigames. The detailled graphics and the wonderfully dynamic music add greatly to the atmosphere. Unfortunately, some erroneous design choices detract from the game, making it less than the big title it could’ve been.

Obscure: Aftermath isn't without its flaws, but you could do much, much worse on a system that has had a criminal shortage of games as of late.

Obscure: Aftermath for PSP has the same issues than the original game appeared on Playstation 2 some years ago. Hydravision didn´t fix the problems with the gameplay and with the camera. At least the visuals are so good for the system, with a great terror atmosphere. The cooperative experience with another player is funny and it works really good but playing with the computer affects the playability.

Hardcore survival-horror fans will get a kick (and a few good scares) out of Obscure: The Aftermath for the PSP despite the few hardware evils that hold it back. That said there are a number of good things about the game but only for those loyal survival-horror game fans that don’t mind the flaws.

Although the story can be a bit boring, the game is quite fun, especially when played with a friend.

A nice game, without the courage to try something new in the survival horror genre. Teen dialogues and a short lasting appeal keep it from excellency.

So if you're itching for a decent survival horror game on the go and can deal with the "teen slasher film" feel and storyline, OTA is a pretty good choice.

Perhaps the worst thing I can say about Obscure: The Aftermath is that it's entirely average.

The fact that Hydravision took the time to improve on a few things before porting it to the PSP is good. If you have a friend to play with, your gameplay experience will be even better...and funnier. Just don’t expect an AAA quality game...but it does the job.

It's not a great game, and it has some issues, but it gets enough right about the genre that fans shouldn't pass it over.

Obscure: The Aftermath is a fun survival horror game that is marred by dumb AI and a lame story. But even with its problems, I still had a great time looking at the amazing visuals and laughing at the cheesy dialogue.

Obscure: The Aftermath will provide some with a nice, handheld introduction into the survival horror genre. But for most, it's nothing more than an outdated handheld port.

The final result is a watered down adaptation which doesn't bring anything new to the genre.

Not a very compelling game or even a funny one if you're playing on your own, Obscure for the PSP is basically the same game that we enjoyed a couple months ago but with no Online options and lacking useful gameplay mechanics. Its an interesting game if you're in the mood to play with some Survival Horror, but don't expect anything else besides that.

The Aftermath is the game-version of all those movies that are brought out straight on DVD: simple entertainment to kill time with, but never anything special. Apart from the fantastic soundtrack, the game never manages to surprise.

This survival horror game looks good and controls well but never manages to bring either the scares or the laughs it's aiming for.

The gameplay of Obscure: The Aftermath is fun to tackle with a friend, but the PSP version runs into some problems that its console predecessors didn't: it loads more awkwardly and can hurt the pacing of the experience. But at the same time, the PSP benefits from Ad-Hoc multiplayer, which allows both players to move around without screen constraints.

Obscure: The Aftermath is a cheap thriller. It has a few stand-out features, but it still does nothing exceptionally.

It's hard to get sucked into a game when playing it on a three inch screen and even more difficult to be scared of a monster that's no bigger than your thumb. Obscure: The Aftermath doesn't do much to turn the tide in this regard, and if a survival borror game doesn’t give you chills, then what’s the point?
