More or less the PS2 version of the game, and that is not bad at all. You'll have just as much fun with it too. Great single player stuff, and head-to-head multiplayer is ok.
-
Electronic Gaming MonthlyMoves at a blisteringly fast pace (unlike some other PSP sports games), looks comparable to its visually impressive big brothers, and is simple to control. [May 2005, p.98]
-
It gets its praise being the most addictive arcade-style sports game on the planet.
-
Play MagazineFor a handheld game of street ball, NFL Street rocks. [May 2005, p.70]
-
PSM MagazineProbably more than any other PSP launch title, Unleashed performs and plays just as well as its bigger PS2 brother. [June 2005, p.82]
-
The PSP’s first option for football gaming on the go is a good one and will fill the gap nicely as we wait for the system’s first full NFL game.
-
The new content is useless, the lack of Internet play is disappointing, and the load times are excruciating ... but this is one of the rare exceptions in gaming where the port is better than the original.
-
Just a fun game which you don't need to have really any American Football knowledge to play.
-
Unleashed duplicates the look and feel of its big console counterpart remarkably well, so much so that owning both versions of the game would be foolish.
-
Next to Sony’s ATV game, NFL Street 2 Unleashed is probably the best port, or at least the port with the least changes, to make the jump to the handheld.
-
All in all, Unleashed reminds me a lot of the St. Louis Rams. A lot of flash, some potential, and even some great highlights from time to time, but in the end it just doesn't have the goods to be crowned the champ.
-
Feature-rich and full of worthy diversions, Unleashed's major drawbacks are ergonomically taxing controls (more the fault of the hardware), a horrid soundtrack, some less-than-user-friendly considerations in the various modes, and "Legacy of Kain"-esque load times, which is to say they're really long.
-
One of the deeper sports titles on the PSP. Just because it was stripped down to a handheld, does not mean that features and depth have been sacrificed.

MarieD.Apr 17, 2005Good game and I love the graphics -- it truly looks amazing! My only gripe is getting used to the controls. Keep the sports titles coming!
