  1. If you wore out your copy of the bewitching original you may need to question whether new songs are enough to get you playing the same game again.

Lumines II shows that the game has lost none of its appeal since its initial release, and the music videos really do feel like the next-step and part of a natural progression.
  3. Beside the impotent addition of music videos, it's the lack of new puzzles, online scoreboards, or just plain online play that really frustrates me about Lumines II.

The basic gameplay and multiplayer are exactly the same as they were before. [Dec. 2006, p.136]

Memories of Mizuguchi's original may hold more value than anything offered here, making for an unusual proposition. Highly enjoyable as it is, Lumines II is tough to recommend. [Christmas 2006, p.89]
  6. The problem with moving a lot of the skins over to songs familiar to a Western audience, though, is that it's harder to maintain that illusion of interaction when the player already knows the song intimately.

This is definitely the definitive one. It has the second most content, only beaten by Live (which is incredibly segmented through DLC) and it just feels great to play. However, my one issue is a true 100% file is painfully long to get to. I have over 45 hours in and I still don't have the S+ rank for time played. Full Review »
