JohnB.Nov 7, 2005This game is huge. well just as big as the original version. i was exspecting some of it to be watered down to cope with the amout of information, but NO this game has the same amount of traffic and people in it. and a plus is that it actually has a better redraw distance than the original GTAIII had.
-
-
FollowerNov 7, 2005great game nothing wrong with the controls and nothing wrong with the game. picked up my copy on Nov 4 and been playing it non stop.
-
-
FredT.Nov 9, 2005Lot's of hours of gameplay and challenging game. The graphics and sound are excellent for a handheld game. The city is pretty big and it all fits in the palm of my hand. This is a great time killer when im at work and it is slow or on the bus waiting in traffic. Only downside I can think of is that it sucks the power right out of the battery.

-
PressfieldDec 21, 2005it really wants to be like the PS2 versions, but comes up short in so many ways. i could go on about the mindless missions, but most of the reviews, even the good ones (!) already pointed this out. the biggest problem is with the aiming, which totally blows. when a game doesn't do what you want it to do, thats not a challenge, that's bad game design.

-
JoeyDec 27, 2005GTA Liberty City Stories is one of the best games I've ever played! The packages are a little harder to find but that doesn't make the game any less great. The graphics are fantastic and it's highly highly highly highly highly reccomended!
-
-
BobbyBOct 24, 2005The best game you've ever played on your PSP! GTA: Liberty City Stories has great graphics, game play, character, locations TOP NOTCH! Go and get it now!
-
-
ChrisB.Oct 25, 2005Hmm...it sounds like we should all be going for Virtua Tennis instead...that game seems oodles more fun!
-
-
HoratioOct 25, 2005Why this game is getting good scores is beyond me. i guess these professional game reviewers forgot about gameplay and are impressed with the graphics.
-
-
SteveM.Oct 25, 2005Overly ambitious...this just doesnt work on the PSP. the screen has "ghosting" problem all the time. and its hard to tell what's going on. Read the reviews, don't look at the scores. lots of the reviews say tons of negative things about the game, yet they give it a grwat score? why? I don't like this game and I'm a big GTA fan.
-
-
MappyOct 26, 2005What happened to my GTA? Now it seems too cheesy and the analog nub takes a long time to get used to. And forget about multiplayer. The battery life sucks!
-
-
HeavyD.Oct 26, 2005Great game, Controls were a little difficult to get used to at first, (Used to playing the orginials on PS2) but quickly became used to new controls. Just as fun and entertaining as the first. Great buy, FINALLY a good platformer.

StephenJ.Oct 27, 2005Absolutely Unbelievable. I pulled out GTALC at work today and was totally in awe that here i was playing a GTA game with all its complexity while i should be working. The framerate is smooth, the widescreen view is Pixelisious. I love it. Try playing this on your DS Fanboys. Is it just one loony posting all those negative comments since they are posted in little groups.
-
-
SquiglyOct 27, 2005Let's get one thing out of the way...this aint the GTA you are used to. Liberty Citry Stories means well, but it just doesn't FEEL like the other games. You are limited in playing "cops n robbers" like in the older games, so all you have to do after a while is do the missions, which have bad writing and bad controls.
-
-
ShaneB.Oct 27, 2005Is it just me or is this a disappointment? Like others have said, the controls are hard to get used to, but even when you get used to them the aiming is still wacky. This may be the best PSP game, but its still just going through the motions.

-
MattyOct 27, 2005It is the best game for psp the graphics r amazing dont listen to these stupid people who give it a low rating if u have a psp go and buy it. ok the controls take a bit getting used to but the rest is excellent i cant stp playing on it.
-
-
SimpleredDec 8, 2005This decent, open-ended game is utterly ruined by controls that are just below passable. If you struggled with the controls of the console games, watch out, this one's ten times worse. The analog stick (or whatever it is) isn't up to the task of controling running and driving. They tried to fix the aiming, but it's kinda wonky.

qwertyOct 28, 2005Simply marvellous.

-
GtafanOct 28, 2005Best handheld game evar!!!
-
-
SeanS.Oct 28, 2005Not the game we were promised. This seems like GTA-lite. If you're a fan of GTA games, then you will notice were they cut corners. There are fewer people in the city, the missions are short and dull and the action isnt as intense. This game wasn't made by the same team as the PS2 versions. Keep that in mind.
-
-
TagOct 28, 2005Gamespot got it right. The missions are DULL. I was expecting shorter missions, but not this boring. Maybe if they spent some more time making creative, fun missions, this would be worth it, but bad controls make this one a dud. [Ed: A dud yet still a 5? Hmmm...]
-
-
LukeS.Oct 28, 2005Exactly what R* said they delivered. This is a full on GTA with nothing left out in fact even more stuffed in than i thought possible.
-
-
GuyOct 28, 2005How would you sort out the camera view problem. There is only one analogue. I think they've done well with what they have got.

KenD.Oct 31, 2005There seems to be 2 groups of people those that LOVE Liberty City and a few misguided souls that keep repeating the same review again and again. To these children i say, just go play the best handheld with the hugest screen and now with the best portable game EVER.

-
HenryJ.Oct 31, 2005

-
TrevorH.Oct 31, 2005One word: buggy. Sometimes, the game just keeps loading, without starting. The screen will go black at strange times, like when you're trying to aim. And there the polygons go crazy sometimes. No thank you.
-
-
NissenOct 31, 2005After struggling with the controls for this game for a few days, I'm about to give up. And I've been playing Vice City since it came out! Sometimes you mess up just because the damn game shot someone you didn't want to be shot.
-
-
KatjaOct 31, 2005Rockstar leeds continues to mangle rockstar games on the PSP. First they release midnight club with its horrible loading times and now they do a new gta set in the exact same city as gta3. but they forgot the fun! where's the crazy action? everytime it gets exciting the framerate goes down! do your fans a favor, rockstar, leave the 3d gta games on the ps2.

AlexL.Jan 18, 2006think about it its a portable GTA game, it might not have helicopters but theres a way to do that.
-
-
SpikeJan 26, 2006GTA:LCS is one of the best GTA games it is better than vice city but not san andras its a good game but it is a hard game to beat.
-
-
RossJan 4, 2006it is a good game but there are not so much missions as in the other GTA's which i think brings my rating down as i have done them all and am gwtting bored of wandering around killing random people and looking for my extra 50% to comlete.Does anyone fell the same way?

MitchMatchFeb 19, 2006San andreas made this game seem wak, this game has to many barriers, and you cant swim which makes it unrealistc, i also dont like how it rains about every 2 mins, besides that its good.
-
-
BobE.Jun 12, 2006This game is skill and it does have helicopters in it. also just because its the same doesn't mean its suks.
-
-
FreddieT.Jul 13, 2006Awesome game, graphics good, vehicles fun to ride and endless mini missions to keep you going along with an excellent story line. Only down point is no houses or businesses to buy ( or at least so far in my game! ) except safehouses given to you.
-
-
RickyB.Sep 18, 2006The game stays true to form. You simply get lost in the experience and forget you are holding a PSP. The game is nearly flawless and can only improve with some new camera work. GTA is simply the greatest gaming series ever and will remain that way as long as there are video games.
-
-
MikeP.Aug 23, 2007I am a pro game reveiwer and I have to say that this game isn't what it seems.Ya its controls are iffy but, it doesnt mean it can't be a good game and it isn't.If you ask me a playstation 2 is this games proper home for the psp 5/10 for the ps2 9/10

JeffP.Nov 3, 2005Good control. Great introduction to the series. A fine conversion from the console original. Not watered down trash but full and complete. They added so much its GTA on Steroids
-
-
LibbyNov 4, 2005Maybe a bit too much for the PSP. They did scale back a lot of the misisons (this seems to be the number one complaint), but also, the driving is hard with the analog on the PSP. It's not as sensitive as on the PS2.
-
-

PackardNov 6, 2005Take GTA, remove the cool missions, add some serious problems with the camera and this is what you get. GTA fans might want to pick it up, but the rest of us will be wondering what the big deal is. It's GTA and it's 3D. Does that always mean a game should get 9's? Not to me.

StrandedinmadisonNov 6, 2005I went on a trip with this game and after three hours of playing it the battery died...i had to wait for the end of my 7 hourt bus ride to charge again. james, i did the math and you do not get 20 hours on one charge. have some of you people not even played the game?
-
-
DSesDaddyNov 6, 2005Strange they used "Stories" in the title, because this is the weakest GTA story ever. Who cares about toni????I didn't want to advance the story, just mess around. I guess these games are good for that after a while.
-
-
CammacNov 6, 2005Spot on, great handheld carnage..
-
-
BobNov 6, 2005Great game and its good to see it on the PSP. ive found no issues with the controls and the graphics are better than the original PS2 version. i like the minimal story means i dont get in the way of the main reason to play GTA and thats to just cause carnage.
-
-
MartineNov 6, 2005Cant see any real diffrence between this and the original version except its more playable.

MrXileDec 30, 2005With PES5 and GTA:LCS ; who needs to leave their house? GTA is the game that will make people want a PSP if they dont own one already, and if you do have a PSP - you MUST get this game.
Yeah, it kills your batter - so what, its worth it - after all, it IS a portable machine!!! -
-
JoshK.Oct 24, 2005GTA comes to the PSP, but they messed up the controls. Aiming takes a while to get used to and the usual hiccups that only Rockstar can pull off are still present. The biggest problem, though, is with the missions. They are BORING! At least they're short.
-
-
AndrewL.Oct 24, 2005This game takes everything from the console counterparts - the riveting stories, great music, wonderful cars, mediocre shooting controls, outstanding city graphics etc. and squeezes it onto a handheld. With BETTER graphics than all the console games. Truly amazing, and one of the greatest technical feats of our time.
-
-
JasonR.Oct 25, 2005Gta liberty city stories is truly a fascinating game. graphics game play and everything is equaly as good as xbox. controls are easy and every thing is fun this game is great i recomend it to ALL!!, go get it now!

KaplanOct 29, 2005The controls are real floaty, and using the d-pad to aim is weird. And how are you supposed to move the camera while running? I appreciate the effort, but maybe they could have put more thought into the gameplay.

JimL.Oct 31, 2005Having just finished the story mode. We are getting into the multiplayer scene and even though there is just two of us it is incredibly addictive. The longevity of this game now, cannot be questioned. It will be fun to see how well a six player game is but one on one is real good.

As a value proposition, there's nothing on PSP that comes close. It's a gigantic game; the core gameplay will probably take you 40 or 50 hours to get through, and it has 33 additional "games" that have the potential to occupy you another five or even 10 hours, if you really want to push it.
-
Although flawed, Liberty City Stories is a remarkable achievement; it shames the efforts that many other developers have put into their PSP games.
-
While rough around the edges, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories offers a deep, console-like GTA experience. There's so much to see and do that finishing the main story portion leaves around 60% of the game to experience.
