AceGamezAlthough not all of the DS's features are utilised (mainly the touch screen), the challenging gameplay and DS download function more than make up for this.
-
A surprisingly enjoyable title that blends the sensibilities of old school arcade games with the complexities of modern gaming, making for a title that’ll likely please just about anyone, gamer or not.
-
With its tight controls and diverse and rewarding levels, beautiful and engaging graphics, and its humorous story, Frogger: Helmet Chaos is sure to be a hit with audiences both new and old alike.
-
A decent platform adventure game for the PSP. The diversified environments and vast array of puzzles require you to think at times, but there’s a little too much recycled material.
-
Whereas the console game is bland and broken, the portable game is a lively 3D adventure packed with plenty to see and do.
-
Personally, I think Frogger works better on a handheld, so Frogger: Helmet Chaos is easily my favorite version for this next-gen remake. You can bust out the classic 1981 game at a moments notice and relive your misspent youth, or dive into a substantial action-platform title that will challenge your reflexes and your brain.
-
Compared to the barebones, disappointing release that is "Death Jr.," Konami comes back with the rebound, offering players a solid title that's simple to play and enjoyable for gamers of all ages.
-
So, curse you Konami, for releasing "Frogger: Ancient Shadow" [PS2], which made me scream and throw my controller, and thank you Konami, for releasing Frogger: Helmet Chaos, which I had some fun with.
-
It's just a very straightforward game design that, even with its rigid quirks, is more fun than it is impressive.
-
Play MagazineQuotation forthcoming. [Nov 2005]
-
Certainly seems to be directed towards a younger gaming audience with its colorful environments, cute characters and simple controls. The game is pretty childish with a straightforward story mode and a nice selection of multiplayer games.
-
A revitalized Frogger would have been awesome on the PSP, but failure to introduce variety to the gameplay dooms this one to mediocrity.
-
The game is certainly on the short side, but for an entertaining and distinctive modern take on an arcade classic, there are much worse choices out there.
-
Frogger: Helmet Chaos is not a bad game by any stretch, nor is it particularly good. It seems like yet another licensed re-hash that attempts to re-imagine a gaming classic.
-
PSM MagazineUltimately, it starts to feel repetitive quickly. [Dec 2005, p.116]
-
If there are huge differences between the console and PSP versions of Frogger, I didn't catch them. The gameplay and challenge are still a problem, and as such, I'll happily give them the same score.
-
Official Playstation 2 Magazine UKUnfortunately, getting Frogger through his grid-based and danger-laced environment is about as snappy as email chess. [Mar 2006, p.99]
-
Official U.S. Playstation MagazineSomehow, the PSP version makes Frogger's already-confusing mechanics even more frustrating. [Jan 2006, p.100]

Oct 24, 2022An interesting game, but in some places I went through the levels for several hours, sometimes my ass burned, I don’t want to feel this anymore)
