Games Master UKThe levels themselves are a combination of some from past games and new ones, so it's not massively fresh for players of previous games. That aside, this is top strategic shooting stuff. [Feb 2007, p.65]
-
Pure Magazine UKDespite a few technical issues, the tactical warfare is highly enjoyable and challenging. [Feb 2007, p.74]
-
Though it has some faults, Brothers in Arms: D-Day retains the heart of what made the console versions stand out, and it's an excellent choice for tactical war game fans looking to exercise their brains as much as their trigger fingers.
-
It lacks the emotional and technical "oomph" of its big-screen relatives, highlighted by the notoriously futzy control scheme that'll have you pulling out your hair. With that said, it's still one of the best shooters on the PSP, packing a serious challenge in an impressively sized campaign (not to mention some ad-hoc multiplayer) that'll keep you busy for awhile.
-
This is quite long and has stacks of replay value with the multiplayer. That multiplayer mode will be hugely satisfying to anyone who happens to know someone else with a PSP (gasp!) and it represents further evidence that 2006 is the year of co-op gaming.
-
It’s a nice try but for my money I would stick with the recent and far [] superior Medal of Honor game for the PSP.
-
D-Day doesn't change anything or bring anything new to the table sadly, but if you want the same Brothers in Arms experience on a handheld, then this is faultless if a bit unambitious.
-
If you are a rookie to the series then by all means sign up for combat, but everyone else should probably just wait to stroll down "Hell's Highway" if they want a new experience.
-
Play UKWhile the game itself is perfectly sound, Brother in Arms: D-Day is let down by some seriously poor controls that see you constantly trying to fight against the PSP when it's really those pesky jerries you should be focusing on. [Issue # 149, p.78]
-
Sloppy controls and a few AI issues sabotage much of the fun. That aside, a little spit and polish would have gone a very long way.
-
If aiming, shooting, and moving are often frustrating, the tactical game and its controls are where the fun is at in Brothers in Arms: D-Day, and where the designers should have focused their attention when transferring the game from PC to PSP.
-
Official Playstation 2 Magazine UKA solid attempt to bring the gritty realism of war to handheld, but shooter-nuts are better off sticking with "Medal of Honor Heroes." [Jan 2007, p.88]
-
Rehashed gameplay and poor controls...make the game feel like just another console-to-PSP hack job where the makers of the game were just trying to make a quick buck.
-
PSM3 Magazine UKDodgy controls and poor AI ruin what should have been a belter. [Feb 2007, p.74]
-
There's a lot of content to be had for the sticker price, but you'll have to fight some horrid controls to enjoy it, which pretty much ensures that you won't enjoy it, doesn't it?
-
If the clumsy controls and glitchy graphics hadn't already killed it, there might have been some game left to salvage.
-
PSM MagazineYou'll have a tougher time fighting your PSP than the Third Reich. [Mar 2007, p.87]
-
A sluggish and cumbersome experience that distinctly lacks in any sort of atmosphere, D-Day is a real disappointment.
-
D-Day's strategic undertones are welcome, but overall the game is too drawn out and generally lacking in tension to truly captivate, other than in short sporadic bursts.
