Meeting the unique demands of Rocket Racing can be maddening, but there is great satisfaction in triumph. With a little perseverance, a lot of entertainment can be extracted from this small package.
-
Pretty but uncommonly difficult and trickier still to master, Rocket Racing will reward your dedication with an excellent example of momentum-based fun.
-
If you're the kind of person who eats F-Zero for breakfast, Rocket Racing is a brutally enjoyable take on the top-down racer, but maybe a little too punishing for its own good on occasion.
-
Visually the game is lovely; distinctly 16-bit era backgrounds with parallax scrolling to add some physicality, nice particle effects and trails when grinding and 3D polygonal ships atop everything.
-
Skill drops off the list of requirements early on in Rocket Racing, and it’s a shame that the developers seemed to substitute challenging tests with ridiculously repetitive tasks. However, considering the cheap price, Rocket Racing is a fun little title to play on the go. And if nothing else, it will drive you to the edge of madness in an attempt to complete it.
-
There’s a fair amount of stuff to do here and Rocket Racing looks pretty in its 2D Technicolor, but it’s just not that much fun to play.
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKIt's basically an 8-bit knock-off of Wipeout, without all the fun destructive bits like mines or rockets. [June 2010, p.113]
