  1. Think of this as Final Fantasy on a 3-D chess board, where your men/women have certain movements and abilities. The spell effects are gorgeous and you can easily find yourself spending lengths of time just building your party the way you like.

While it may be dragged down somewhat by the brief running time, Tactics has the wonderful gameplay that makes it worth that replay or two.
  3. While I still prefer "Vandal Hearts," this is still the best turn based strategy game on the market.

Square's first entry in the strategy-RPG genre. Uneven, but a classic. [Jan 2004, p.188]

For those who are expecting an in-depth story, prepare yourself, because it is deep. Never have I seen so many twists and backstabs in a plot.
  6. One of the most unique role-playing games you will ever play.
  7. While interesting in the short run, this quickly becomes old as there is nothing else to do besides watch the (admittedly interesting) story unfold.

Strategy-based JRPG with a stellar cast of characters, job classes to level up and max out, dynamic cast of main characters and supporting cast to boot. The OST is one of the most epic I've heard in any video game. I have very fond memories of playing this Squaresoft classic. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a compelling ride from start to finish. It also has exceptional replayability. Expand

Seriously, the class system and complex combat are where it's at here. It's also rather brutal at first, but I enjoyed the challenge.

Final Fantasy Tactics is Squaresoft's answer to Enix's Tactics Ogre using similar style of gameplay but mixing up with a few new unique features/styles and the Final Fantasy series' magic touch, Squaresoft was able to create a masterpiece that has a storyline which rivals even the mainline series. With a great addictive gameplay structure, a deep dark storyline and a well made soundtrack FFTactics is considered to be one of the best Spinoffs of the Final Fantasy series if not considered already the best.

On point. Story? Top notch. Combat? Clean and refined. Battle systems? Simple enough to play without a worry, but complicated enough to have a blast if you really dive into it. With probably over 2,000 hours spent on this game and the PsP version, It's easily one of my top 10. Absolute masterpiece. Expand
