  1. Despite the light hearted brushstrokes throughout Brave Fencer Musashi, this disc houses one of the richest and most satisfying videogames I've ever enjoyed.
  2. 90
Everything from the story line to the sword-slashing gameplay is both fun and captivating, launching Musashi into the realm of outstanding PlayStation RPGs with "Final Fantasy VII" and "Breath of Fire III."
  3. This action adventure RPG is packed with side-scrolling style action, three-dimensional action, lots of challenging puzzles, tons of characters, and scads of enemies' abilities that you can acquire and use yourself.
  4. Yet another treat from Square. It manages to perfectly balance a unique blend of RPG and action all in the same game without losing its focus on exploration.
  5. 85
Musashi drew me in via its solid control, clever puzzles, excellent visual design, and loads of personality. As good as I found the gameplay and visuals though, I've got to give special mention to its stellar soundtrack. In fact, I'm humming it as I write this.
  6. It's fast action, and unique, varied game play makes this game a blast and a half.
  7. It's an incredible game filled with interesting story development, characters and objectives. Squaresoft has produced another winner!
  8. It's a fun game that relies more on gameplay and exploration than it does on flashy special effects, and it features a lengthy (although linear) quest that should satisfy even the most critical gamer.
  9. Brave Fencer Musashi has some cool gameplay elements in it that will wow the most jaded console gamer, but the formulaic story, annoying characters, and "kiddie" feel of the game end up distracting the gamer as well as knocking it down a grade.
  10. Musashi is a very preset character and doesn't go through much of a change in the game. His loud mouthed arrogance may leave some even hating him.
  11. All said, the nasty, evil puzzles gave me a terrible impression while struggling through the games mid-section, but the last chapter and the game's humor saved it from a dismal grade.
  12. Fraught with inconsistencies and potholes. Although it is a satisfactory, basic RPG, it is nowhere near the level of excellence that it should be.
