Despite some slight tedium in the mission variety, you’ll keep coming back to your Vita to play Volume weeks, months, even years later.

After an agonising delay for PlayStation Vita owners, Volume has finally landed on our favourite handheld and it plays like a dream. With great gameplay and a perfect port, Volume on the Vita is a must-own title for any Metal Gear fans and another top-notch title from Mike Bithell.

It’s probably absurd and unfair to expect him to be able to do that every time, but at the same time, since he did it once, it feels like a letdown that he couldn’t do it again with Volume. By any other standard, this would be a perfectly fine achievement, but by Bithell’s standard, it feels slightly lessened.

Volume’s score is great and the composer, David Housden, has done a fantastic job. The audio direction and design really impressed me with the memorable voice acting and sound effects throughout. It is always great to have a composer create a soundtrack so good, that it is actually interesting to listen to even outside the game.
