It has all of the classic elements of RPG gaming that the genre’s fans love, and an incredible battle system that stands high as a possible industry standard.

Another great game from one of the best JRPG series of these last few years and a solid new title for the PS Vita lineup.

Well written characters and a finely crafted battle system make this a great entry in Vita's line up.

Still, at the end of the day Tales of Hearts R is a testament to the fact that with enough care and attention to detail, a venerable series can make the transition to the portable market with great success.

This is one of the best RPGs on PS Vita. It's fun, has a lot of content and great characters, so if you're looking for a game of this genre, Tales of Hearts R is a great option.

Forget about graphic fidelity, and find a strong narrative and character development alongside a universal combat system that Tales of Hearts R can only deliver to the PlayStation Vita.

Tales of Hearts R is one of the best games available for PS Vita. Nice visuals, dynamic battles, full of possibilities and translated to Spanish. A must for all of the fans of the genre that both vets and newcomers of the franchise will enjoy.

Tales of Hearts R works as a standalone game, and it doesn't ask that you immerse yourself in the Tales universe just to play.

Tales of Hearts R is a surprisingly good portable JRPG which delivers an interesting plot, an excellent combat system and sharp, colorful visuals. It's shorter than your usual Tales and the starting storyline and combat system are kind of a mess, but it gets deeper and unique as time goes by.

Do you sometimes miss the golden days of JRPGs? Perhaps Tales of Hearts R, the remake of the 2008 DS-version only released in Japan, can ease the pain? If nothing else, it is a fun and easygoing experience, where fights are hectic yet controllable, leveling up is super-fun instead of time consuming and the music is brilliantly mind-blowing. Tales of Hearts R is not trying to change the genre but it doesn't disappoint.

Tales of Hearts R won’t convert anyone, but fans of Japanese RPGs would do well to pick this up.

There is a camaraderie for the heroes built around trust and affection for one another that really resonates and gives the narrative a certain warmth that I enjoyed through to the end.

If your Vita’s barely murmured over the past few weeks, then this is the blood that’ll bring your system back to life – and it’s a release that no self-respecting JRPG fan should bypass.

Tales of Hearts R is the RPG for everyone. A wonderfully balanced game for casual and hardcore fans alike.

Aside from some outdated appearance issues, JRPG cliches, and forgettable music, there isn’t anything terribly wrong with this game.

Another entertaining JRPG for the PS Vita platform which already has an array of great JRPGs in store.

This entry features some of the best storytelling, characterization, and pacing in the franchise—though the combat doesn’t make the smoothest of transitions from the DS version. Those who never played the original Japanese release won’t know what they’re missing, of course, but it’s frustrating that this undeniably excellent game isn’t quite all it could’ve been on the PS Vita.

Tales of Hearts R delivers a great combat system and a fun storyline. Although it can be taken as a new milestone for the genre, it's one of the best JRPGs to be found on PSVita.

This Tales of Hearts remake does not live up to the PS Vita graphical standards, but beyond that, you will find a nice RPG with an easy to understand combat system and a challenging experience fit for any skill level. Nevertheless, the core of this game is the relationship between characters and how the story unfolds; from funny to emotional moments, any JRPG fan will enjoy and love this adventure.

A mixture of ritualistic role-playing workmanship and contemporary flair, it's a worthy addition to any Vita library, regardless of whether you're a Tales veteran or not.

Tales of Hearts R isn't going to shatter anyone's perceptions of the genre. But it isn't trying to do that either. It's a solid, traditional experience that should satisfy fans of classic JRPGs.

While it isn't a monumental triumph like the last couple of main-series Tales games we've received, Tales of Hearts R is still an enjoyable, if somewhat unimpressive, entry to the Tales franchise, one that's more than welcome in the wake of the incredibly disappointing Tales of Xillia 2.

Tales of Hearts R is an adequate RPG, but it doesn’t do much to make itself memorable.

While Tales of Hearts R succeeds in providing interesting gameplay, it fails to offer a compelling storyline. The battle and upgrade mechanics are sound, but the juvenile dialogue might turn some people off trying it.

I realize this seems a bit harsh and others aren't saying the same kinds of things, but they are strolling through poppy fields. In this shortage of JRPGs we are letting anything go, and this game needs serious help rather than free passes. Give it a go only if you really need your Tales on the go.

While you won't find many unique ideas or a shiny polish here, you will find a competent roleplaying title that offers mild fun and challenge.

Tales of Hearts R is a clear drop in quality from the two Xillia episodes. The graphics are far from what the PS Vita is capable of and what more can we say about a remake that's clearly worse than the original? Sadly Bandai Namco's title is unworthy of your time despite an enjoyable combat system.

Tales of Hearts is a solid J-RPG, but clearly not the best in the series... and this PS Vita remake (the original game came out on DS seven years ago) is not improving it at all : the 3D graphics are actually less charming than the 2D was.

Fighting is so much fun in this game I found myself grinding without needing it at all, unlocking Soma skills is also a great way to customize characters. There are real dungeons with puzzles, a lot of nice cities and lesser quests and an overworld map that lately is sorely missing from many jrpgs. I think this could end up being my fav jrpg on Vita and overall one of my fav Vita games. Full Review »

All in all though still a terrific tales game. 9/10 for sure Full Review »
