Apr 23, 2018Somehow, it manages to take the original and, honestly, it makes it worse… The same story and the same game are still here at its heart, but it's hidden away under so many layers of imperfections and issues that it's almost indistinguishable. Frankly, it's a better idea to grab a SNES mini and enjoy the original instead. Horribly disappointing.

Mar 9, 2018Secret of Mana came at a time when expectations for RPGs were completely different than the present. This remake treads so much familiar ground that it is unlikely to attract many new players to the series, although it does capture what remains fun about the game quite well.

Feb 15, 2018Make no mistake, Secret of Mana remains a decent game, even in this damaged state. But the lifeless spirit and newfound flaws of the remake emphasize all the clumsy details that were easier to forgive in the original. Its real-time combat can be clumsy and unbalanced.
