    Not again! I still remember the first time, trying to master all those tricks with my ageing finger joints cracking and popping away as the buttons flew, with my inevitable faceplant near the end of a level making me feel about as athletic as a slug in acid.

    The game play in Olliwood remains more-or-less identical, with progress through the skate park training runs, plus the dual-layer    Not again! I still remember the first time, trying to master all those tricks with my ageing finger joints cracking and popping away as the buttons flew, with my inevitable faceplant near the end of a level making me feel about as athletic as a slug in acid.

    The game play in Olliwood remains more-or-less identical, with progress through the skate park training runs, plus the dual-layer Amateur and Pro mode levels, across four worlds, starting in Olliwood, progressing through an Aztec jungle, rail road landscape, a gruesome carnival of the dead and finally the oppressive future of Titan Sky.

    Not that you'll notice much of the scenery, because your focus is glued to the few pixels around your skateboard as your try to get perfect landings, grinds and tricks to boost your score. There are new tricks, but I have no idea what they are because I'm usually too busy digging bits of tarmac out of my face.

    Seriously, this game is all about challenge and even on amateur, while you can just about progress through the levels, it takes extreme dedication to get through the pro ranks and master the sickest of tricks, combos and then landing the bastard to get the super-high scores. There are five challenges per level and a few play-throughs required to pick them up to advance.

    Then there's the Spots and Daily Grinds where you can try and get the best score to impress on the global leaderboards, yet more challenge to a game already stuffed full of challenge. If you're in the skateboarding frame of mind, then this a perfect mix of science and score hunting, if not it soon becomes a temptation for us cack-handed mortals to slam dunk the Vita and trying something else, wherever you fall on that scale will determine how your mileage varies.

    As a hunk of code, OO2 is near perfect with subtle, yet slick visuals, to keep the focus on your deck. Thumping urban audio to keep your head in check and all the previously listed challenges neatly mapped out before you. Ready, steady, splat!    … Expand

    OlliOlli 2 is a truly exceptional 2d side scrolling skateboarding game, an albeit niche genre. It excels in providing extremely tight and logical controls. This gives the game a great feel and sense of speed and flair, it is very much the Super Meat Boy of skateboard games. It is simple to learn but exceptionally difficult to master. Thankfully the game is very effective in teaching allOlliOlli 2 is a truly exceptional 2d side scrolling skateboarding game, an albeit niche genre. It excels in providing extremely tight and logical controls. This gives the game a great feel and sense of speed and flair, it is very much the Super Meat Boy of skateboard games. It is simple to learn but exceptionally difficult to master. Thankfully the game is very effective in teaching all the basics. Again like Super meat Boy the game is extremely challenging but rewarding. Realistically you will hit a wall with this game as the difficulty keeps ramping up. The player has to keep on going and learning and the reward will come. There are no unfair deaths just skill and with that there is a real sense of joy when you nail that level long combo with a perfect landing. Not everyone will appreciate the challenge and quite frankly not everyone will be able to handle it. However the different difficulty modes make the game more accessible.

    The aesthetic is unique and brilliantly varied throughout the different exceptionally well designed levels. The levels have great replayability in trying to complete all the challenges and high score chasing. Added to this are additional daily activities.

    The only real downside of this game is the unrelenting difficulty. It is truly a must have and fills the gap in the market for a quality skateboarding game that pro skater 5 probably won't    … Expand

    My review is of a free mindset, one that has not played the first game. My score is purely - in a nutshell - is based on it's gameplay and adaptability to the PS Vita. I'm happy to say that due to its side scrolling nature, fluid smooth gameplay that the game is more than suitable for Vita and certainly for those who have both a PS4 and Vita, the most entertaining way to play this highlyMy review is of a free mindset, one that has not played the first game. I'm happy to say that due to its side scrolling nature, fluid smooth gameplay that the game is more than suitable for Vita and certainly for those who have both a PS4 and Vita, the most entertaining way to play this highly frustrating, frantic incarnation of twitch reaction gaming. I'd simply like to say that if you like games that are simple but difficult to master, and appreciate the fact that it does get extremely difficult then it's a no-brainer, it's a casual pick up and play until you've done most of the levels without trying to perfect them, after that the real challenge and frustration starts, but in an endearing way that only Super Meat Boy before then has achieved. I've marked it 8, it isn't perfect, there is a missed opportunity to make this more social and the controls are tricky but overall a joy to play and certainly deserving of the praise.… Expand

    This is how sequels should be made!! Amazing controls , great music , colorful graphics and addictive(sadistic) game play. If you love the first game get this NOW.

    Despite the fact that I never got used to the controls I can't say it's not an amazingly made game. The levels and challenges are designed masterfully. This game will punish you the farther you go into it. If you're hardcore then this is a game for you. However it's challenge can get in the way of fun, so be warned.

    It's going to require skill, dedication, perfection, and just dumb luck to master everything this game has to offer. There's a new challenge around every corner. If you're looking for something to test your skills then look no further. The problem is that the difficulty takes the game to points where it just isn't fun anymore. I've never raged so hard in a game before. Eventually I just cast it aside, never to be played again.

    The only issue it actually has with gameplay is that sometimes the controls just won't respond at random times. It's not an issue of lag, but there will be times when the game won't respond to your input. It's rare, but still leads to cheap deaths in a game that already kills you often.

    Speaking of death it will send you back to the beginning of a level. Not a huge issue considering that levels are pretty short, but in the later levels when they get longer it's irritating to have to go back through the motions just to get back to the part where you need the practice. Repetition is never fun.

    As a whole though this is a good game. Especially if you love punishing yourself with games that have brutal difficulty. The pain it causes actually ended up making me hate it, myself, and the developers. Yet I can't deny it's a well-made game. I recommend only so long that you can handle the countless deaths, frustration, and anger that lies ahead.

    The good news (if that continued dedication to being insanely hard doesn't count as good news for you) is that OlliOlli2 is also just as addictive as its predecessor.

    Sometimes less is more. The new manual mechanic is fun, but it's also the default thing to do. The chase for the perfect combo is good, but when that ends OlliOlli 2 doesn't do much to provide meaningful choices to the players. It's still a great skate game, able to capture the spirit of the sport, but it could have done "less".
