All in all MS Gundam Extreme VS-Force is a decent action game with plenty of content to get stuck into. Some of the execution could do with refinement and don’t expect an enthralling story but on the whole there is an enjoyable experience here that is definitely worth a look if you’re interested.

If you’re looking for a pretty challenging fighting game, with lots of missions lasting less than ten minutes each, then you’ll probably get a kick out of this.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs Force is a well made tactical shooter, with a classical Japanese action gameplay surely not so easy to master for every players. It is a game full of fan service, suggested only for real fans of Gundam series.

It’s not the best game in the series by any stretch of the imagination, but that fantastic, fast paced, arcade-style gameplay is fully intact with Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS Force delivering one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I have had on the Vita in quite some time.

Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS-Force for PlayStation Vita is fun, with a huge load of contents and with decent graphics. Sadly, due to the lack of an online multiplayer, if you don't have good friends to play with via ad hoc, you'll probably play it alone.

Fans will enjoy this new Gundam game on PS Vita, as it offers a nice gameplay and of course a good sense of fan service, but the game still suffers some flaws in its game modes.

As a fan of the Gundam series, seeing all the different mobile suits with their signature moves duking it out should have been a dream come true. However, a dull single player campaign and a complete lack of online multiplayer makes Extreme VS-Force very difficult to recommend.

A good way to experience the basics of the terrific 'Extreme VS' games, but it absolutely falters compared to the rest of the series due to the lack of any sort of online play and a far smaller roster than it deserves. There's a long, content-rich campaign mode that ends up being far more fun than I'd ever expected. I sincerely hope later entries have a similar mode, but then also have online multiplayer.

It introduced western players to the surprisingly deep combat that overseas arcades and consoles have enjoyed for some time. Unfortunately, the core was marred by the inclusion of a single-player campaign that could’ve done with a bit a more time and polish.

It’s a good game if you’re fully caught up with Gundam lore, but even casual fans might struggle to get along with this one.

Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs-Force has its weak points, but if you're able to overlook its shortcomings then you'll be able to find some solid gameplay. It's just unfortunate that more attention wasn't put into the localization effort, as it leaves a lot to be desired. Hardcore fans of the Gundam series should give it a shot, but everyone else should proceed with caution.

Bandai Namco’s first attempt at localizing a Gundam game in many years comes with mixed results, as Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs-Force is a largely average experience.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme VS-Force has a lot for long-time Gundam fans to enjoy, but little to offer for newcomers. The action is too cumbersome for those just looking for a fun beat ’em up, but the amount of fan-service included is enough to make this a good time for those who enjoy the anime. Hopefully this will lead to some of the better Gundam games coming stateside, but as of now this is what fans will have to settle for.

Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS Force is a game made for fans but even them will recognize its huge shortcomings. Perhaps Bandai Namco should have localized a simpler, better game because the tactical aspects in this are dampened by horrible camera controls and dumb AI issues. That being said, 2 vs 2 battles can be lot of fun, once used to this weird combat system.

Given the lack of online play and some of the bland presentation, it's difficult for even the biggest Gundam fan to get behind this title.

At best, Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme VS Force is a competent but dull beat-em-up with a few neat mechanics, and at worst a cluster of battles mostly controlled by the game’s AI, with only a small amount of help from the player.

The very definition of a missed opportunity. Thirsty mecha fans are still stuck in that same desert, and they’ll have to wait for something to quench their desires a while longer.

If you're a Gundam nut then you'll probably be able to stomach some of the title's flaws, but don't expect a true Gundam VS experience.

The single player campaign becomes a miserable mess where the only real path to succeed is to ignore the features that are supposed to add depth. Picking it up for multiplayer is something that can only be recommended to the most dedicated Gundam fans with a preexisting group of like minded people, but even for fans there are better series titles available.

Even the most hardcore Gundam fans will find it hard to say they enjoyed VS-Force. It may look and sound like a good game but it doesn't play like one. Poor controls, pointless story, and some crazy difficulty spikes leaves VS-Force missing the mark in almost every way.

If Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs-Force intends to be the resurgence of the franchise here in the West, it could not start on a more wrong foot. This game is not a primer; it is only for the Gundam devout.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme VS-Force tries a million different things, then botches all of them. Import Gundam Breaker 3 and skip this insipid timesink.

It never felt like the game would be substantially better if I had an intimate knowledge of what was going on. It felt like it would be better if it was, you know, a better game.

Gundam fans who have been waiting for the series to come West should temper their expectations for Extreme VS Force — it's a clunky and uninspired mess.

On the good side,The average critic score for this game is surprisingly accurate. Extreme VS Force is decent. It's not good, it's not bad. On the good side, the game looks great, it's vibrant and dark when it's supposed to be, the style translates really well which is a problem for some Vita games. It's likely that some of your favorite gundams are in the game and reliving moments from the series is, as always, enjoyable. Offering to play your own music instead of the series classic is a nice touch as well and a very underutilized idea (I remember when the original Xbox touted playing your own music as a new feature and people loved the idea).

However, the controls are stiff, you have to stop after doing ANYTHING including firing a gun, which leaves you far more open than it should. Try playing a melee intensive game like Dark Souls, and stop pressing the attack button for about two seconds after each swing. That's how this plays. Swing, 1, 2, 3, now you can attack again, or move, or whatever. The dash and jump button being the same, only you press twice to dash, is TERRIBLE, as I never find a big reason to jump, but always need to be dashing (Frankly the game should just have dash on ALL OF THE TIME as it's a more comfortable speed for any casual gamer, only a complete newbie to two stick controls would like the sluggish pace). Don't get me wrong, I understand that they're trying to convey a sense of scale, you're controlling a monstrous robot, but ... even Armored Core isn't this slow, and Armored Core is the best Gundam game to ever be made. Aside from that, stopping after attacking during combat is tiresome and while they want you to be strategic with the fights, unless you're playing another person there's no reason to, except for the artificial difficulty inflators known as Haro Medals.

Put simply, each mission has 3 sub-objectives that earn you these medals which unlock things like letting you take more mobile suits out on a mission or more missions in general. After a few missions though, you realize there's a theme, every so many missions you can't take damage. And that becomes very hard to do when you have 4 Zaku, which are die in one hit annoyances, that will spam multiple shots at you from several angles, often after you get off your measly single beam shot. Even one hit cancels the don't get hit medals and will lead to frequent groans of irritation as you repeat the stage and its unskippable, untranslated introduction.

That's another issue, there's no subtitles during combat. Yeah. Here's Amaro protecting white base, and having a conversation, and unless you speak Japanese, or have seen the anime several times, you have no idea what's going on! I'm sure many of you have always thought, "Wow, if only I had LESS story in my games!" Battles might hold my interest more if I knew what the banter was, but without it they're just clunky messes with unskippable, unreadable intros followed by talking to two of the most annoying characters ever made. (The main story involves these two AI fairies that bicker with each other, and something about evolution.)

Finally, the lock on system is ABSOLUTE AND COMPLETE GARBAGE. Your laser fires infinitely in one direction? Cool, there's no manual aim and your lock on range is limited to about thirty feet ahead of you, even when you can physically see the enemy's mobile suit stomping down the path at you. If I can SEE them, if the enemy's model is completely on screen, I should be able to lock on to them. It's simple, and the enemy doesn't seem to have this limitation as I'm locked onto while tapping the lock on button, without tagging them.

Overall, if you're a fan of the Gundam series, it's fun at about $20, if you just want some robot fighting action try one of the Warriors Gundam games or maybe import one of the Gundam Breaker games (Monster Hunter crossed with Gundam) they're available with complete English subtitling from play Asia, which is a better subtitle job than Bamco did here. If you don't have an interest in Gundam, try Armored Core. If you're really looking at this game though, be warned about the controls, I've played NES games with more fluid movement and combat.

Yes you can made your own gundam in breaker, but is that the only reason you gave it a 0? Also why bring a completely different game into this review when you know.... you can acualy review the game...

I acualy had to give this game a 10 just to improve the user score from people like Animaniac who did that for no reason. The real score is 8 out of 10.

Its a hack and slash game but focus more on taking one enemy at a time rather than just murdering hundreds of NCPS in like dynasty warriors.
The levels can time around 1 to 10 minutes each.... they aren't really long.
There is some kind of strategy here for when you have groups of gundams roaming in the battlefield. They can die pretty quick so you have to make sure that you manage the groups well and use these special battlefield abilities.
Graphics wise? this is acualy better looking than gundam breaker 3 vita version.... im pretty impressed that it dosn't look bad at all acualy.
Sound is pretty great too, all the sounds are quite satisfying when your using some gun or a beam saber.
The roster for the gundams really only comes around 40... but they pretty much include at least one gundam from pretty much all the gundam series. Even the gundam from iron-blooded orphans is here.
Really just an overall treat to play for a gundam fan.
