Ignore the completely retarded Critic Review, this is an arcade perfect port and it's been a long time coming
there's so much quality in this particular port that it warrants a buy, it's simply excellent in every way. i'd compare it to the same level of quality as the Sega 3D Classics line for 3DS and if you're familiar with those, yes, this game really is that good.

need more convincing? i really can't say it better than i did on my r/vita post, so here it is in it's entirety:
"PSA: Metal Slug 3 for Vita is the best version i have seen in terms of being perfect arcade/NEOhome ports, highly recommend and it's on sale right now
Kinda a weird post but i thought it was worth mentioning
i've bought a ton of different version of the metal slug games
7 on DS
Anthology and XX for PSP
1,3 and X on steam
and X as a PSOne Classic (PSP)
all of those games have their own problems (except for double X) for how much they are like the original version in terms of sound effects, music, flow, etc
this version is the closest i have seen to the arcade/Neo home port, if you've ever played the arcade version it's so insanely close to it i almost couldn't believe it, they couldn't even accomplish this in the steam version which baffled me
if you're looking for the best version of metal slug 3 this is definitely it
kinda a dumb post but i just wanted to put it out there since there's a ton of meh ports of these games and this one is far superior than all the ones i mentioned
highly recommend if you are a fan, this is the version i have dreamed of
and yes the blood is red, not white
finally"
i also had a guy ask me what was wrong with the steam version compared to this, makes sense as the steam version is very good too and for a long time was considered the best port. this is my reasoning behind why this is better:
"really doesn't feel like the arcade version, some of the sprites are replaced with actual art, weird difficulty select, achievements are way too hard to get, glitches etc.
this version has a ton of options
in the anthology version some of the sound effects had been replaced with higher quality effects
it just really didn't feel like it belonged for one reason or another, this version is literally the arcade version with lots of options similar to the neohome version
difficulty button gauging 1-8
choose how many lives you have per continue (goes as high as 99)
very good display options for pixel perfect presentation
reminds me a lot of the sega 3D classics on 3ds, clearly they knew what they were doing this time
makes me happy they finally nailed it, i've waited so long"
I really don't know how better to sell it than that
oh yeah, it's also cross buy?? so you get the ps3 version for free when you buy it, you can also play co-op between both versions
seriously, just get this
on a side note, i normally try not to rail other people for their opinions on this site, but i read the critic review and it contains LIES. this game does have save states, very good ones in fact
idk how high the dude was that wrote that review was but his opinion is objectively wrong
my best selling point for my opinion on his review tho? click the link to the site it's hosted on and scroll down to the user comments
