Not bad at all. But I think I regret buying it a bit because I thought I could try playing a single player campaign.

Solo play is very punishing when you start playing the higher difficulty levels, so you need to play with others but that doesn't make the game easier at all, which is not a bad thing actually.

So if you are like me, who prefers playing solo in a top-down action game(ex. Gauntlet), avoid this game. If you want a challenging solo experience, get it.

But the game's selling point is its multiplayer feature.Co-op multiplayer is rewarding as it gives you way larger amount of XP and fun than playing solo. Friendly fire makes the game harder. Anything can kill you: players, grenades, bugs, mines, beacon drops, and even the landing ship you've been waiting for to extract your ass from the mission map.

We didn't get much news from Helldivers since it was announced at E3 2013 and that's usually a bad sign. In the case of this game though, that's not the case at all! If you have fond memories of Killzone Liberation on the PSP, you'll feel right at home in Helldivers!

All in all, A very good investment at 20 bucks, the amount of content is quite substantial for this price point and it's a very nice addition to any fan of twin-stick shooters / co-op games.

The vita version is surprisingly playable. Runs very smooth. Controls are mapped at about as best as it could be. Back touch is split between grenade and reload. Front touch is run. Aiming just isn't as easy as PS4. You always need to be connected to the server to play and if you go into suspend it will kick out back to the menu. Needs 1.8GB of memory. The gameplay is absolutely addictive, a very satisfying shoot 'em up with a lot of opportunity for tactical play. Customization plays a good part in the game, with unlockable/customizable weapons, armors and character abilities all playing a role in how you play the missions. The multiplayer is seamless, allowing you to enter lobbies with up to 4 players (with voice chat!) and discuss missions and strategies. Even when playing solo you can see other player's ships orbiting planets which is a really nice touch. The story consists one campaign spanning 3 different "war fronts." Each time a player (or group of players) completes a mission on a planet, influence is gained in that region which unlocks more missions and pushes the war effort closer to the alien home planet. The game's difficulty progresses nicely but players will definitely notice that teaming up is key in the late game. All in all this is one game that the Vita definitely needs. You won't be disappointed. Expand

This is an AMAZING game. I was surprised to read some reviews for this game (PS4 version) complaining about the shortage of ammo, manual reloading, tons of enemies, friendly fire, and basically everything that makes this game a challenging and very entertaining game. So, this is not an easy game. Although probably you will find the first missions to be easy and even a bit repetitive, after a couple of levels you will find yourself looking for support on the online community and getting killed over and over again.

There are A LOT of unlockables; I often find myself playing just one more planet to get a new reward or gather more samples to upgrade the stuff I already have. Also, there is a very nice balance between offensive and defensive mechanics, there will be surely many different configurations that will suit you, no matter what kind of player you are.

One very nice touch is the influence. Whenever you liberate a planet, you will apport with some influence to that region. Depending on the influence, each region is either conquered or lost. If enough regions are conquered in one system, the war will be pushed to the base planet of the corresponding race, and an invasion event will be triggered. During this event there are some nice rewards (yesterday we got our experience doubled), and there are a lot of active players. If enough influence is gained during the event, the race is defeated and will be inactive until the end of a certain period of time (a month?). It has been said that the next time, that region will have a higher difficulty, we will see ...

I have played on my own for a while, and it is a really enjoyable experience (at least in the first levels, it is too hard to play on your own later on), but the multiplayer is extraordinary. Unlike other games, it is so much fun even when playing with high level players and people you don't know. At least these days, the community is very friendly and the voicechat is a very good tool to develop actual strategy and to really work as a team. When you finish a hard mission you actually have this "team feeling", everyone did his/her part, we all died a lot, but in the end we managed to overcome the difficulties.

I have played both the vita and ps3 versions of the game. I am amazed of how well the vita version is done. Probably there are some things that are a bit difficult to do, like throwing granades a long distance, but the overall experience is great. The duration of the missions makes this a great game for the vita.

OK, to be honest, maybe the graphics are not as good as they could have been, and maybe the story is not very deep, and you cannot customize your character a lot. But you completely forget about these minor details when you are having tons and tons of fun, when your heart rate rises when you are running out of ammo and you still have to wait another 30 seconds for the extraction shuttle and there are enemies coming from every direction :). The sensation of victory you get when you board the shuttle is priceless!

And of course, this is cross-buy! For 20 bucks (I actually got it for 18), I would say that this is the best new game you can get for the vita.

Good, accurate and fair review so far. Both Letmebewithyou and Halycon hit the nail on the head with their reviews and nothing more really needs to be said!

The fact that this is also cross-buy, cross-save and cross-play knocks this one out of the park!! No better way to spend $20 right no on the PSN IMHO!

I didn't think I would like the control scheme on the Vita ... Or never thought I would be able to keep up with my console brethren, but I do!! This game has given me immense hope for the future of the Vita!!

Ell done Headshot!! Great game ... Just don't go into it for the excruciating solo experience!!

Right now it is my best Vita game... ohh I went too far so let me correct it - best from new releases.
GRAPHIC - smooth, no bugs, no lags, no performance drops.
GAMEPLAY - great, it is much like Dead Nation but because of multiplayer and really hard levels much much better than DN and there is no bugs(!) (at least I did not see any). IMO, there is ONLY ONE FAIL (not small one) - there

IMO, there is ONLY ONE FAIL (not small one) - there is no way to change keys-settings - in Vita when you use right pad and R you unknowingly shake a little bit whole console - NOT MUCH, but enough to miss while you try to snipe something - it would be much much better solution to set fire trigger on L-button (tried it in Dead Nation - and it is much better solution indeed)
DLC - there are DLC's already in PSN - and I kind of like it since everything new that may improve the game (and DLC's are) are most welcome :)

So the game IMO should have 8,5 / 10 score... BUT since it is on Vita (and lets be honest - this console is dying slow death) I give it 10/10

Almost the only game I play in the ps vita. Great game with an wi-fi signal. The only thing I don't like is that the loading screen takes a while. More games like this pliz

This is an excellent game. And the execution of playing single player to multiplayer is flawless. You choose a level, for me it's usually an easy level, and then people will just pop up on the screen and you and your new team finish the objectives together. After completing the level, you can then go to a more difficult map now that you have the man power to do it. The leveling system is great at keeping you intertained and giving you the right incentives to keep playing. It's just a great game and if anybody is looking for that perfect little thing to do on their PS Vita, I'd recommend this game hands down. Expand

The vita version plays just like the PS4 version, the controls are easy enough and the voice chat multiplayer is really good.
The game can get a bit samey but the graphics are decent and gameplay can be rewarding when playing with 3 others. Also supports cross play with PS4.

This is a fun game if you are playing online, especially with friends. It is weak when it comes to single player gameplay. The gameplay is chaotic, but in a good way and the game is highly replayable.

Helldivers comes to our Vita falling a little short in terms of graphics, but luckily it's all about that gameplay; which is top notch. If graphics really aren't a deal breaker for you then I would highly suggest diving into this one.

That said, being more dynamic and more visually appealing is no small thing; whereas I wouldn't recommend anyone play Crimsonland, I'd say that if you have a deep desire to shoot some bugs, you could do a lot worse than Helldivers.

Despite its one glaring flaw this is one of the most enjoyable co-op shooters for some time, even if it is top-down rather than first person.
