Helldivers comes to our Vita falling a little short in terms of graphics, but luckily it's all about that gameplay; which is top notch. If graphics really aren't a deal breaker for you then I would highly suggest diving into this one.

Despite its one glaring flaw this is one of the most enjoyable co-op shooters for some time, even if it is top-down rather than first person.

That said, being more dynamic and more visually appealing is no small thing; whereas I wouldn't recommend anyone play Crimsonland, I'd say that if you have a deep desire to shoot some bugs, you could do a lot worse than Helldivers.

Not bad at all. But I think I regret buying it a bit because I thought I could try playing a single player campaign.

Anyway, eventhough it can be played alone, I am required("forced" to some), to play with friends or strangers because of its unforgiving nature for solo players. Solo play is very punishing when you start playing the higher difficulty levels, so you need to play with others but that doesn't make the game easier at all, which is not a bad thing actually.

So if you are like me, who prefers playing solo in a top-down action game(ex. Gauntlet), avoid this game. If you want a challenging solo experience, get it.

But the game's selling point is its multiplayer feature.Co-op multiplayer is rewarding as it gives you way larger amount of XP and fun than playing solo. Friendly fire makes the game harder. Anything can kill you: players, grenades, bugs, mines, beacon drops, and even the landing ship you've been waiting for to extract your ass from the mission map.

We didn't get much news from Helldivers since it was announced at E3 2013 and that's usually a bad sign. In the case of this game though,We didn't get much news from Helldivers since it was announced at E3 2013 and that's usually a bad sign. In the case of this game though, that's not the case at all! If you have fond memories of Killzone Liberation on the PSP, you'll feel right at home in Helldivers!

There's not much variety in the mission objectives, but playing with 3 other players (with friendly fire always active) WILL keep the experience fresh and entertaining. I've had no lag whatsoever over a dozen of online games and all players were friendly (There's voice chat!).

All in all, A very good investment at 20 bucks, the amount of content is quite substantial for this price point and it's a very nice addition to any fan of twin-stick shooters / co-op games.

I was surprised to read some reviews for this game (PS4 version) complaining about the shortage of ammo, manual reloading, tons of enemies, friendly fire, and basically everything that makes this game a challenging and very entertaining game. So, this is not an easy game. Although probably you will find the first missions to be easy and even a bit repetitive, after a couple of levels you will find yourself looking for support on the online community and getting killed over and over again.

There are A LOT of unlockables; I often find myself playing just one more planet to get a new reward or gather more samples to upgrade the stuff I already have. Also, there is a very nice balance between offensive and defensive mechanics, there will be surely many different configurations that will suit you, no matter what kind of player you are.

One very nice touch is the influence. Whenever you liberate a planet, you will apport with some influence to that region. Depending on the influence, each region is either conquered or lost. If enough regions are conquered in one system, the war will be pushed to the base planet of the corresponding race, and an invasion event will be triggered. During this event there are some nice rewards (yesterday we got our experience doubled), and there are a lot of active players. If enough influence is gained during the event, the race is defeated and will be inactive until the end of a certain period of time (a month?). It has been said that the next time, that region will have a higher difficulty, we will see ...

I have played on my own for a while, and it is a really enjoyable experience (at least in the first levels, it is too hard to play on your own later on), but the multiplayer is extraordinary. Unlike other games, it is so much fun even when playing with high level players and people you don't know. At least these days, the community is very friendly and the voicechat is a very good tool to develop actual strategy and to really work as a team. When you finish a hard mission you actually have this "team feeling", everyone did his/her part, we all died a lot, but in the end we managed to overcome the difficulties.

I have played both the vita and ps3 versions of the game. I am amazed of how well the vita version is done. Probably there are some things that are a bit difficult to do, like throwing granades a long distance, but the overall experience is great. The duration of the missions makes this a great game for the vita.

OK, to be honest, maybe the graphics are not as good as they could have been, and maybe the story is not very deep, and you cannot customize your character a lot. But you completely forget about these minor details when you are having tons and tons of fun, when your heart rate rises when you are running out of ammo and you still have to wait another 30 seconds for the extraction shuttle and there are enemies coming from every direction :). The sensation of victory you get when you board the shuttle is priceless!

And of course, this is cross-buy! For 20 bucks (I actually got it for 18), I would say that this is the best new game you can get for the vita.
