    With a beautiful art style and highly infectious soundtrack, Futuridium EP Deluxe is a challenging shoot 'em up which just feels right on PS Vita.

    An unflinchingly tough, sometimes frustrating experience, Futuridium EP Deluxe just about has the gameplay so you can see past its foibles.

    Is it worth replaying challenges you’ve already overcome until you beat so many at once, some arbitrary quota? Was I learning more by doing so, becoming a master of skill? Did I conquer, or was I conquered, playing enough to unlock the additional credits I needed to make it through alive?...Just a hundred more cubes, just one more.

    The gorgeous design of this game cannot hide the fact that this actually is a very limited shooter that gets boring very easily. Too bad, because it is a game that is very easy to learn.

    Fast, fun and the music is awesome! If you like shooters and you are looking for a real challenge like the old times, you have to play thisFast, fun and the music is awesome! If you like shooters and you are looking for a real challenge like the old times, you have to play this game! You will find the real "flow", the time will pass trying to beat the latest challenge or trying to make the best score in Flappyridium. I have received it for my birthday and now I have tons of challenge to beat! Even if it is less powerful, imho PS Vita is the best platform to play Futuridium. Being too slow results in running out of energy for your ship and a game over. As traditional with arcade style games like this, getting a high-sccore is also something for people to works toward.

    With it's unique style, twist on the genre, and decent challenge there is certainly something here for the right audience. I personally couldn't stomach it for long. I don't think it's a bad game, but while playing all I could think about was how bored I was. There is a lot of content here for those who do get into it. The more cubes you shoot across all the game modes unlocks new music, modes, and credits which can be used to continue playing from where you left off after you have failed a level.

    That sort of ties in with one of my biggest complaints with the game. Whenever you fail while playing that's it. You have to start your run over from the first level of that section. Trying to get through all 10 levels a section has only to end up failing near the end is irritating because you know you have to go back through all of the other levels you just made it through unless you have a credit. This would have been more forgivable if the natural awkwardness on the gameplay wasn't the most often cause of failure, rather than a lack of skill.

    The game's graphics and design for the levels and ships bring back nostalgic memories of Star Fox on the SNES, but it doesn't take long to notice how hard it is too line up your shots. No matter how zoomed in you are you can't seem to tell if your shots are on mark exactly or not. Add in the fact that when you turn the whole screen turns with you and you have a game that's a bit more awkward to play than it should be.

    Perhaps these awkward design choices wouldn't have been so bad had the game as a whole been more fun. Basically all of the modes you unlock are just the same thing with slight twists (this doesn't really apply to the "Flappyridium" mode), so if you don't like the first mode available don't expect anything different from the other unlockable ones.. Those looking for something different in the arcade style shoot 'em up genre may find what they are looking for here. However the majority of us are probably better off looking for more entertaining options.    … Full Review »

Replayabilty might seem to be limited since these are fixed levels but you aren't going to master them because it is pretty hard. Still a lot of fun. The visuals looked like they might be annoying in screenshots but I found it to actually be really pleasing and very unique. Dubstep WARNING! The music may not be to everyone's liking and I actually had to flip a few annoying songs but luckily it gives the ability to change the track with a button during the game. Vita version runs well and loads quickly and it actually seems to control easier. Seems more tuned to Vita sticks than the PS4 but you might feel differently.
