Mar 13, 2015A fine entry into the Roguelike genre, just don’t be fooled by its cutesy visuals, this game is brutal.
-
Mar 9, 2015Perseverance pays off for those that wish to take on and tackle the burning inferno that is Flame Over. With tons of replay value and gameplay that will challenge most, Laughing Jackal's fire fighting pyro-guelike is a sure-fire hit for the handheld!
-
Apr 2, 2015Flame Over is a game that successfully nails the rewarding feeling of learning from one’s surroundings in order to overcome new obstacles.
-
Mar 11, 2015It really is a pretty straight forward and rewarding game. While it's in no way perfect, it's a completely serviceable roguelike for its price and for the Vita. If you can't get enough of this genre, then by all means consider Flame Over.
-
Mar 10, 2015Flame Over seems too hot to handle at first, but it's worth every hour you invest into it.
-
Mar 24, 2015We recomend Flame Over to the hardcore fans of its genre because the true potential of the game is not present in the first hours of learning. It requires a lot of patience and perseverance. If we discard some slight problems, we have a really good surprise among the games of the PS Vita; it’s a good, difficult, frustrating and very addictive experience.
-
Mar 18, 2015I can't say I understand the appeal, but if constantly burning and suffocating to death from smoke inhalation is your idea of a perfect game, it'll be right up your alley.
-
Apr 23, 2015Flame Over is purposely vague, to the point of being perplexing at times. While the game is action-packed and full of interesting ideas, the package doesn't come together in a cohesive fashion.
-
Mar 9, 2015A pleasant little surprise. Its twin-stick controls work great on the handheld, there’s no forced touchscreen use, its art style and music work well and its core gameplay is solid for a while. Flame Over isn’t perfect. It is, however, fun.
-
Mar 9, 2015Flame Over is refreshing. It has a clever twist on the roguelike by introducing the fire as the primary enemy, that is by far the most engaging aspect of the game. It feels real, it spreads, it’s alive. The first few stages do get repetitive, and it isn’t long before you start seeing the same rooms, as is standard for the genre, but it’s well worth the adventure.
-
Mar 9, 2015You'll need real perseverance to get the most out of Flame Over, but once you get to grips with the game, it'll grow on you like an out-of-control inferno. Packing plenty of replay value, this is hard to put down once you straddle its early hurdles – and while we're not convinced that everyone will be willing to put the work in, the few that do will be fighting fires for some time.
-
Apr 1, 2015Firefighting is an unusual concept for videogames, and Flame Over tries to mix it with dual stick shooting. It's fun and engaging, but the lasting appeal is frankly quite disappointing.
-
Apr 3, 2015Patience and immunity against frustration are much-needed character traits for anyone who wants to try out Flame Over. If you think yourself qualified, then by all means check it out.
-
Mar 9, 2015The way fire spreads is pretty good, but the rest of the game falls a little short with the real killer being repetition. It’s just not random enough to maintain interest for too long, and that’s a fatal flaw in a roguelike with permadeath.
-
Mar 11, 2015Extra polish would have gone a long way to improving Flame Over's fortunes, but as it stands it's a few embers short of a fire.
-
Mar 9, 2015Glaring flaws aside, Flame Over just isn’t much fun. With just one enemy (poorly modeled fire), effectively one weapon and a whole bucket of poorly explained, poorly chosen gameplay ideas, Flame Over is a real disappointment. Game over.
