Solid game with practically everything from the last and more. I still love the music, and getting my old group back together.

As a big fan of Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth, I was really excited when I heard a sequel game was in development. As time went on, I quickly learned it wasn't a sequel at all, rather a side story featuring a unique cast of characters. Given how wonderfully written the first game was, I expected greatness going into the second... Perhaps that was my mistake. As time went on, I quickly learned it wasn't a sequel at all, rather a side story featuring a unique cast of characters. Given how wonderfully written the first game was, I expected greatness going into the second... Perhaps that was my mistake. The story of this game is... below average. Not bad, but not far from it. It's told in a very episodic nature from the beginning and doesn't really start to come together until the very end, and even when it does come together... What we got just was not very good. I can easily say this is probably the most disappointing game I've played all year, not the worst game mind you, just the one that let me down the most.

I took things from this game that I liked, such as the addition of several new Digimon who were quite fun to work towards, some fun side characters, and even a cool new digimon featured in my screenshot. Literally all my complaints in this game lie in the story, as the gameplay is identical to the first game's and even adds some new features. I wouldn't call this a complete bust, but at the same time I do sort of regret putting so much time into something with so little payoff. If you liked the first Cyber Sleuth game for it's great story and thought to yourself that this one would be worth picking up, I recommend avoiding it altogether (likewise if story isn't a big deal to you, you have plenty of cool new things you can do in this game, so it would be worth a pickup).

I’d be lying if I said that Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory made me eager to check out more games in the series, let alone expand my horizons to see what else Digimon has to offer. But if you’re already a fan, I imagine that this game is competent enough and expansive enough that you’ll find all kinds of stuff to enjoy.
