Forget the big number 'II' on the title; Demon Gaze II is very much a standalone title that tones down some of Experience Inc.'s more complex systems to create a dungeon RPG that's both accessible for newcomers with some devilishly challenging endgame content once you think you've mastered the experience.

Though dungeon crawlers usually aren’t for everyone, Demon Gaze II manages to cater to all audiences by offering a low access point for newcomers and a fairly high skill cap for veterans.

Demon Gaze wasn’t the kind of game that was so bad that it needed to be reinvented from the ground up, it was so average enough that a sequel could make slight improvements and still feel like progress. Luckily, Demon Gaze II does that: like the first game, it’s solid enough that you can play it without being too disappointed, but with the added bonus that things are a little bit better this time around.

Excellent game, lots of fun with a great loot and equipment system. If you enjoyed the first game, this is a no brainer. It won't convert those who have no interest in dungeon crawling RPGs and it is a very Japanese styled game, so bare this in mind if you are on the fence.

I've had lots of fun with both games I this series and definitely recommend them to anyone who might be reading this review.
