If your hands are above average size the game is pretty much unplayable on the Vita. It uses the rear touch surface of the console and unless you spend your time with your hands clenched into a fist risking getting finger cramp every 5 minutes then, as you stretch your fingers out from the clenched position, or just relax them slightly to avoid the pain of playing like this you WILL touchIf your hands are above average size the game is pretty much unplayable on the Vita. For me the game on Vita is utterly unplayable. I can't even finish a dungeon. Luckily the game is on PS4 at the same time and I've progressed over 150 hours on that platform and loved it. But this is a review of the Vita version, and the Vita version is unplayable for me so 0 is a fair score.

Darkest Dungeon portable sounds like a great idea but stay clear of this cheap and extremely low effort port of a really good lovecraft game.

Developers didn't bother to change the user interface to fit the VITA. Controls could have been okay if the user interface reflected that for the screen space; For instance you can press R to get a list of controls for the map; well why didn't

Controls could have been okay if the user interface reflected that for the screen space; For instance you can press R to get a list of controls for the map; well why didn't they just make R pull up the map so i don't have to deal with this really bad eye-strain? To add to the absurdity even to the left and right of the UI exist extra space that could have stopped the eye hemorrhaging and microscopic font. also its got bad load times and frame drops in a 2D game...

TL;DR I love PC Darkest Dungeon, game is needlessly small, refunded immediately.

If 30 dollar eye strain sound good to you, go ahead and buy it.

Darkest Dungeon is a game that absolutely deserves to be played. It is an emotional ride for the player, a fun tactical battler, and an RPG that amazingly manages to live up to its horror theme. The art direction is sublime, the sound remarkable, and the direction astounding. Worth more than its bloated weight may let on, Red Hook Studios manages to deliver a product both mentally challenging and rewarding, complete in the truest sense of the word. Just expect it to take a good long while to get there.

As I said earlier, this game wants you to feel uneasy the whole way through, and it’s hard to think of a better way to do that than not telling you what you’re doing. It means that their game isn’t for everyone — but I suspect that if it’s for you, you’re going to love (and fear) every second of it.

Darkest Dungeon is an excellent strategy RPG for the Vita, it's gameplay feels right at home on the handheld and despite some minor niggles the game truly shines as one of the great games this year. Any fan of RPG games should definitely give Darkest Dungeon a look.
