It may be a simple thing - but as Code: Realize shows, simple can really work.

As an overall package, though, Code: Realize is professionally presented and stands out as one of the best otome games available in English. In fact, if I could only recommend one otome game released in English this year, this would be it. With a strong female protagonist, exciting story, and likeable male characters, it's an exemplary title in the genre.

Code:Realize ~Guardian of Rebirth~ is an ambitious, daring otome adventure that takes full advantage of the visual novel format. The lengthy narrative obviously won’t appease anyone frightened of novels, but for fans of the genre, it’s teeming with style and one of 2015’s essential reads.

Code: Realize ~Guardian of Rebirth~ is an otome visual novel that has a lot more depth to it than you might expect. The stories are intricately interwoven, the characters are varied and well developed, and the setting is fantastical and unique; all adding up to an experience that you'll never forget - whichever suitor you choose.

If you enjoy visual novels, then I can highly recommend Code: Realize. There's a delightful cast of characters to meet, an interesting story to experience and beautiful visuals to take in. The plot rushes over details that could use better explanation, but there are plenty of twists and turns to keep things interesting. The dialogue is well written and I enjoyed my time with it from beginning to end. Even if you normally shy away from an otome game, do yourself a favour and pick this one up.

An open mind and a willingness to try something new is inevitably required, but for the relatively niche friendly Vita audience, this unique and consistently compelling experience shouldn’t prove a jump too far.

Add this to the growing list of compelling, niche titles in the Vita library. If you have never played an otome game and are curious, this is a great way to see what the genre can offer when it's at its best.

Unabashedly goofy and melodramatic. It brings in famous characters from classic fiction, then strips them down to the silliest of anime archetypes.

There aren't many available in English, so I hope a positive response to Code Realize will open the market for more games to be localized. In regards to the game, I was not disappointed at all. This was a great visual novel. The artwork is stunning. I constantly was looking back at the gallery of images and admiring each work. There are a good amount of images for each character. Every character had great, distinct personalities and stories. The voice acting was great; although it was in Japanese, the intonations that the actors provided always added to the story. The steampunk London setting was stunning; I remember beginning the game and wanting to share how beautiful it looked with anyone around me. The story itself was great. I have only played through one complete character route so far, but it had me so invested in the characters, and left me crying at multiple points due to the emotion it evoked in me. I smiled and laughed as well; the game leaves players completely invested. You won't want to put it down. Otome games and visual novels aren't for everyone; yet I definitely would suggest this game. It's not all about the romance, and there's a reason it is awarded #1 Best PS Vita Game of 2015. The localization was amazing, props to the team for there being an almost flawless translation. I hope more Vita owners give this game a try, because it truly is worth anyone's time. Full Review »

While an otome game/visual novel may have somewhat limited appeal, this game is enjoyable enough for most individuals to have fun with. TheWhile an otome game/visual novel may have somewhat limited appeal, this game is enjoyable enough for most individuals to have fun with. The characters, while somewhat goofy, are interesting and provide more depth than you might expect if you are not used to otome games. The art is beautiful and portrays the characters and setting very well. It certainly has some iffy aspects such as the main character exuding poison that is deadly to the touch, but the translators and writers make them work for the most part. Not the greatest game ever, but certainly one of the best otome games I have had the pleasure of playing. Would highly recommend to any vita owner, even if they aren't particularly interested in romance stories with a female lead. Full Review »
