A significant amount of new content and a new home on the Vita makes the Plus version of one of the best Atelier games a compelling release for Atelier fans as they await the next release from Gust.

All in all, Atelier Escha & Logy has made a solid return with its “Plus” version for the PS Vita. While at times the fluffy dialogue and constant state of repetitive work can be a bore, the long-lived Atelier formula with its alchemy, expeditions, and battles keep you trucking along.

Overall, there’s plenty of value to be had in Atelier Escha and Logy Plus: Alchemists of the Dark Sky. It just takes quite a bit of time to maintain your patience with the heavy dialogue, bland visuals and a generally boring story.

The combat is a bit predictable to start, but once you get yourself stuck into the more accessible alchemy system, you'll never go into two fights with the same toolset available, which is refreshing.

While I loved Escha & Logy the first time I played it, this time around I did see more blemishes than perhaps I wanted to admit. While it's fun to have a Dressing Room feature where I can make everyone look like pirates, I am still frustrated at how Gust hasn't ironed out the wrinkles in these versions. Flaws aside, I still loved replaying this game, imperfections and all.

While this one can unfortunately get bogged down in repetitive busywork, and lacks the fun sense of exploration that comes with better map design, there’s still plenty to enjoy: the stylized characters and environments look excellent on Vita, the score is impressively eclectic and the gameplay offers a highly satisfying challenge for completionists.

If you’ve played it before and liked it, you’ll enjoy Escha & Logy Plus, but you won’t find much new to be excited about. For everyone else, it’s a stock RPG that’s neither too hard nor too interesting. Have an energy drink before playing so you can stay awake.

There's no challenge to the mundane requests that you'll find yourself completing, and at times, it feels like an RPG for beginners, going through the motions and ticking off a checklist of what's expected of the genre. Thankfully, the saving grace here is the enjoyable combat, which can help blow off a bit of steam after what is all too often a hard day's work.

And trust me on this for someone who doesn't play a lot of JRPG, this game drew me in at my surprise! The gameplay, the characters, the story, the music, the graphics and the plot are such a masterpiece! And don't get me started on the combat. The combat is top notch and the animations are beautifully done. This was my first Atelier game and I don't regret picking it up. For newcomers and veterans alike buy this because you will not be disappointed. This game has made me download all the other Atelier games because I just realized I was missing a lot on this amazing game franchise! And oh Escha and Logy have a relationship in this one and it is so cute XD Full Review »

The highest rated Atelier game in Japan & they actually deserves it, it's really nice to see that this game are received well overseas too.The highest rated Atelier game in Japan & they actually deserves it, it's really nice to see that this game are received well overseas too.

The game has a lot of great soundtracks whether it's vocal or instrument and also have one of the best gameplay in the series. If you like some challenge then this game also have a great postgame content with challenging bosses unlike those PS2 Atelier games that are for babies.

If you like romance story then the interaction between Escha & Logy will surely melts your heart.

The reason I chose to play this first is because this is the only atelier game than has two protagonist a female and a male. This has a very tedious process of grinding I mean really. But I guess that's what you would expect on a JRPG regardless I was able to platinum the game. Because I always look forward to getting the strongest Item or equips but after seeing the guy making a 1 million plus damage made me think I was not playing the same game with that guy.

I chose Logy's story first of course and it was somewhat good nothing bad nothing great the only part of the story that I like are shipping the two protagonist. it was the only reason on playing the new game plus so I can get the other ending.

After seeing the other atelier games that came after this I wouldn't hope for another game with a female and male protagonist. But I am currently trying Rorona right now because other than shiopping the two protagonist I did like the part when I got the strongest equips and items. Thank you GameFaq because of you I enjoyed the game. thank you also to the people who contributed on the guides.

All in all I I liked the game it's just tedious but very satisfying after that.
