Alien Breed offers fans much more than just a re-release. With an updated version of the game, online co-op, cross play between the PS3 and Vita and universal level and gun unlocks, players can enjoy the game in just about any way they want. If you’ve never played the game before it’s probably not the best use of your money, but fans will enjoy the ability to relive their memories while also creating new ones.

There is simply a ton of content, with the original game, the expanded edition, and three extra level packs.

Don't miss it if you're and old timer Amiga fan, or if you like top down shooters. But expect neither polygon nor a plot in the process.

With the charm Alien Breed had in 1991, it returns in 2013. It weathered the test of time without failure, when it once again knows to win us over for another go – and now even on the go on PlayStation Vita. The levels are endlessly replayable, so you get the most out of your money’s worth buying this game.

Alien Breed is a solid twin stick shooter that, while not providing the challenge of the game on which it’s based, is a great game to play when you have a few minutes to spare, perfect for those looking to take down the alien menace on the go.

Simple as it may be, Alien Breed isn’t unenjoyable. It’s a bit easy and straightforward, sure, but it’s also a very good update of an Amiga classic. You run through corridors, shoot everything that moves, pick up all the goodies, then make a run for the exit to do it all over again. There’s no denying that Alien Breed is pretty mindless, but sometimes a bit of brain-dead xenomorph extermination is a nice way to kill an hour.

The enhanced visuals and local and online co-operative multiplayer are welcome additions, but everything else feels a little bit outdated, with a distinct lack of variety in enemies and objectives in particular making the levels bland and monotonous by today's standards.

There's nothing wrong with Alien Breed for PS Vita; it does exactly what it's supposed to. But games that old should retain its original level of difficulty in order to keep the old school player interested.

Like I said before, unless you have some sort of undying affinity for this series, I recommend you steer clear. Seriously, there are plenty of other titles on the PlayStation Store worth your hard-earned cash.
