Outside of some blocky textures, there’s nothing terribly wrong with Aegis of Earth — but there’s also nothing groundbreaking here, either.

Aegis of Earth: Protonovus Assault is a tower defense game that may have trouble appealing to fans of the genre. It had unique ideas but the game wasn't executed that well. The characters and the voice cast are the only positive attributes but it's hard to recommend any game on that alone.

Perfect Vita game to play for a few rounds per day. I picked it up for 20€ during a recent PSN sale - and it's a 8.5/10 game when considered in that price category. Definitely NOT a game I'd pay 40€ for, though. Expand

For the first few hours it's interesting and fun, although you shouldn't expect much from the story. The rotating city mechanic makes the combat scenarios interesting, but that really is the only draw for the game, and after a while it gets repetitive and boring. The characters are super annoying and you will find yourself mashing X to get through cut scenes and on screen dialog. The cut scene graphics (although rare) are nice and so are the character models, but the on screen depiction of the city is blurred and lacks any fine detail, plus the various buildings that make up your weapons are all pretty much different color rectangles. Upgrading your city is fun for the first ten minutes, then you run out of space and just have to keep improving existing structures which only changes their base attributes. Also, you eventually start managing multiple cities, but again, they're all basically the same, with you building the same stuff, fighting the same enemies, and ....yeah... very repetitive. I got the game from GameFly and have enjoyed it the past few days (about 5 hours total) in small 10-30 minute doses (they keep getting progressively shorter). But I wouldn't recommend buying it for full price. Expand
