If you weren’t a fan of WWE 2K23, probably not enough has changed to win you over. If you thought WWE 2K23 was already perfect, the minor additions in 2K24 might not be enough to warrant the cost of a new wrestling game this year.

I know I really hammered on the Showcase mode, but I really did enjoy my time with WWE 2K24 as a whole, I just expected better from that mode especially based on its history. Regardless of that mode this is the definitive wrestling video game of this year or even the past five years! The enormous roster and multitude of match types will leave you with many hours of dream matches or fantasy bookings. This is an absolute buy, so grab a copy and FINALLY finish your story. Also let’s go McIntyre!

With something for everyone, including new and current MyRise stories, new and returning gameplay mechanics, an ever increasing depth of realism with its animations, and more brutal match stipulations, WWE 2K24 is a must-play.

WWE 2K24 raises the bar again for 2K’s signature franchise, ensuring another cracking year for fans of World Wrestling Entertainment. The Wrestlemania Showcase mode is a major highlight for fans of the old-school era all the way up to now, and the frankly enormous amount of content available throughout will keep any fan satisfied until the inevitable WWE 2K25 arrives. Until then, this is about as definitive as it gets.

Ultimately, WWE 2K24 is the single best wrestling game on the market today, and the best one in decades. Building on the already solid foundations of WWE 2K23, the in-ring action is smooth and rewarding, the flurry of game modes offers a little something for everyone, and the Wrestlemania Showcase retells some of WWE’s most iconic stories in new and exciting ways.

I'm intrigued to see how or if Visual Concepts attempts to top WWE 2K24 next year because what we have here is essentially a near-perfect pro wrestling game. It looks gorgeous, has a stacked roster, tons of fun modes and so much replay value that it might not even warrant purchasing next year's game. If Visual Concepts somehow achieves that, I would be mightily impressed, to say the least. For now, fans of this Shakespearian sport can rest assured that WWE 2K24 is the most fun and deep pro wrestling game there has ever been.

WWE 2K24 is the best the series has ever been, with some major and minor additions to every mode, customisation, and the most important factor, it’s gameplay. It feels so good to know WWE 2K games are back to being great, and while the MyRISE stories are a little silly and MyGM can still be frustrating in terms of getting the right balance for high ratings, I was enamoured by everything it has to offer. It looks phenomenal in both the character animations and arenas, and while some of the voice acting feels a little wooden, I loved this year’s entry more than any other that came before.

Whether you’re a fan of WWE or wrestling in general, WWE 2K24 is pretty much a must-have. As ever, it’s a comprehensive package that has something for everybody, and with its enhanced gameplay and expanded creativity options, it’s a title that you’ll likely go back to again and again. It’s assuredly the best WWE game in a very long time — and might actually be a contender for the title of best wrestling game ever.

WWE 2K is a franchise that is getting stronger as the years go by. 2K Games and Visual Concepts have taken the series on the right path. The Ambulance Match mode is the most exciting, the entrances are now different and gives it much more realism. The defects in the game are few, the gameplay is more arcade than the previous ones and that makes WWE 2K24 a good place for fans of the genre.

The experience in WWE 2K24 is very enjoyable for those who like the event or just the gameplay style itself. And honestly, even those who aren't the biggest fans can have fun.

If certain points still deserve a little work, we are light years away from what we were offered only 4 years ago with WWE 2K20. An unsatisfactory episode for many players of the license. The roster is huge, the immersion and visual rendering are clean, despite the few flaws that we mentioned. On the gameplay side, the controls are easy to master and the progression curve is very pleasant. The tribute to 40 years of Wrestlemania in the Showcase mode is totally successful and even if that is not what interests you, you will inevitably find what you are looking for in one of the many game modes. It therefore seems to us that if we don't yet have the perfect game for wrestling and WWE fans, we're still starting to seriously get closer.

Look, this is exactly what you want from a WWE game, especially if you grew up in the '80s and '90s. Plays well, looks good and a wonderful trip down memory lane.

WWE 2K24 not only makes you want to finish Cody Rhodes' story, but you'll also wish to relive all those moments that made Wrestlemania one of the most critical events in sports entertainment history. The gameplay mechanics received the necessary adjustments to feel like there is a real improvement in the gaming experience. The series has settled into an exceptional, if very familiar, blueprint, and I would love to see a bigger shake-up in the future, but the result offers the best package since the franchise returned in 2022. If you’re a curious fan who’s held off on jumping back into the digital ring, 2K24 is as good an argument as any to shake off the ring rust. For diehard enthusiasts, this year’s entry won’t bowl you over in the broad sense, but its incremental updates and continued polish make it a worthy contender for another year.

WWE 2K24 is such a full, feature-complete wrestling game that it makes me thankful for the franchise capitulation from a few years ago. Without it, the digital squared circle likely wouldn’t be what it is today, it certainly wouldn’t have benefited from the three years of care, respect, and foundation we enjoy today. Instead, it'd remain a story unfinished.

Whether these and the few other novelties in the rest of the package are enough to justify the purchase for those who already own one of the more recent releases remains highly subjective, but we're still talking about the best wrestling title in recent times, albeit with the regret of not yet seeing that leap towards the next-gen that we've been waiting for for years.

In some ways, this is the best-playing game in the WWE 2K series thanks to the addition of so many different interactive attacks and the addition of super finishers and more move slots makes for more exciting matches across every mode. If you've been itching for a new WWE game, this is a worthy pick-up and a fantastic successor to prior entries.

It’s great that the WWE 2K series is in such a good place, where it doesn’t need to change much and still remains a must-have for wrestling game fans everywhere. When the bell rings, WWE 2K24 still continues to have the best in-ring action, with a broadcast-like presentation that very much looks the part. It’s filled to the brim with content that will keep you busy until Wrestlemania 41, but its Showcase mode, the key feature of its marketing campaign every single year, needs a serious rethink, as it’s holding the series back from legendary status. It might not Finish the Story, but it’s another damn good chapter.

While not drastically different, WWE 2K24 is better in almost every way, touting small but smart additions to well-tested systems and modes as opposed to taking bigger risks.

As far as wrestling games go, this series is still the best there is at capturing the spectacle of these larger-than-life personas and turning the crazy, dangerous, and sometimes downright silly action we see on TV into a playable format. It ticks all the boxes you’d want for an annual sports series and comes with those loving touches that wrestling fans will appreciate.

The story of Wrestlemania is the main character, with some of the greatest moments in WWE history recreated in game, and with some real scenes. But it's not the only content that WWE 2K24 offers, being the perfect place for every WWE fan.

WWE 2K24 pays homage to forty years of WrestleMania with a Showcase mode that nostalgics will not fail to appreciate, features an extraordinarily large roster with over two hundred wrestlers and reiterates the relevance of My Rise with two new, exciting stories that they further enrich an already rather large structure including free performances, Universe, My Faction, My GM, the online sector and the Creation Suite. The experience proves to be very pleasant, even if it still carries some unresolved problems with the interactions, the balance and the technical quality of an increasingly impressive production, but which perhaps should pay more attention to the details.

WWE 2K24 does not reinvent the wheel, but expands both the match pool of the last chapter and the possibilities of the combat system, which continues to work well despite some historical rough edges. The Showcase mode has some imperfections, but it's a pearl for any WrestleMania fan and the two My Rise careers aren't bad at all either. If we add to this the many small innovations in practically every dimension of the experience, which is based on valid but not exciting technological solutions, the reasons that made us appreciate this year's edition appear even more evident. The Visual Concepts title is a great wrestling playground, with a disproportionate number of wrestlers and a keen eye for local multiplayer, and represents a solid foundation on which to build the future of the franchise.

Far removed from the haunted carnival ride that was WWE 2K20, 2K and Visual Concepts have settled into an extremely reliable groove. The amount of content on offer is absolutely staggering, with grapple fans certain to delight in at least one of the many available modes and 200+ available Superstars. Some visual inconsistencies and a somewhat lacklustre WrestleMania Showcase let the side down, but beyond that, WWE 2K24 is another strong, if safe, entry in the 2K-driven WWE series.

MyGM is the best as it’s been since being re-introduced in 2022. Gameplay is fluid and sound, while the 2K Showcase is well-done despite its heavy emphasis on the immediate past. And while I’m not in love with everything done in MyRise, there is plenty of content there to be occupied for hours.

With the release of WWE 2K24 this series no longer feels like a carny outcast amongst the other big sports franchises. While the game’s core action could stand to be even further refined, fun new mechanics, match types, and a fully-developed suite of modes, including significantly improved Showcase and MyGM offerings, are worth cheering for. While maybe not quite the total package just yet, WWE 2K24 feels like it’s ready for the bright lights.

WWE 2K24 is packed with features. Some you know, while others are new or have been given fresh coats of paint. Showcase mode is worth the price of admission alone, but the diverse roster and deep systems kept me playing for hours. No matter what your story is, you’ll have fun finishing it and starting others.

As so many of us continue to learn, nostalgia trips can turn eye-roll-inducing in a hurry. They run the risk of turning into a hackneyed compilation of things we know while sacrificing the overall quality of the end product. A cynical cash-in, as it were. WWE 2K24, it must be said, does not succumb to this particular pitfall.

The most accomplished wrestling game of the last decade – only held back by gnawing MyFaction concerns. A shame.

WWE2K24 is more of the same. The added matches are a nice addition, but there are some caveats made here. The visuals seem off-putting, and some of the single player modes are overkill. If you're looking to slam someone to the mat with a near current roster, grab this. But be wary - it may need a little bit more time in the ring.
