Wild Hearts is a watered down version of Monster Hunter World. There's only ten boss monsters compared to twenty nine for MHW in the base game. I played the game for about three hours and was already bored of it.
The worst thing was the poor graphics, it looks like a PS3 game. The character creator looked like Dark Souls 2. These games require you to invest a lot of time into it. Why would

Give it a year and it will be on Ps Plus.

This game is a steaming pile of garbage. The greedy developers are charging a next-gen price of $70 for a game that looks two generations behind. The graphics literally look like a PS3 game. The animations are laughable.

The multiplayer is a complete joke. There can only be up to 3 players in co-op. The developers are so lazy, they couldn't even give us a mode that could support up to 4 players, like most co-op games do. I spent $70 on this piece of garbage, I expect better multiplayer at that outrageous price. The boss battles were trash. I would only recommend this game at $10 or less.

What could have been a great new entry into the hunting genre is unfortunately held back by various issues and glitches. The game really feels rushed, and it's still possible to fix most of the issues, but it never should have been released in such a state to begin with.

I really do like the karakuri (building) system though, it's a fun new spin on the genre, but in the end I don't

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After completing the main story, I've unfortunately come to the conclusion that Wild Hearts is one of the worst games I've played in the past 20 years.

For context, I've logged over 1000 hours in Monster Hunter World/Iceborne, a little under 400 hours in Rise/Sunbreak, and about 150 hours in Generations Ultimate. I'm a competent player.

It has some good parts. The graphics , sound and music are high quality. Each weapon type is unique. I like how the monsters aren't all just dragons or dinosaurs.

The problems greatly overshadow these parts. Here is a list of the worst:

Monsters have little or no punish windows for attacks. Couple this with the animation lock for the player attacks are 2-3 times longer than the monster downtime. This forces the player to trade hits in order to do damage.

Monster attack hitboxes extend well beyond the visible attack. The worst offenders are bird dive bombs, Golden Tempest explosions, and King Tusk belly flop.

Some attacks don't look like attacks. The player shouldn't be repeatedly wondering what hit them. More hits than not had me wondering exactly what hit me. Example, if the moster does a tail swipe, I shouldn't be hit if I'm standing between its forelegs.

I-frames aren't reliable. Multiple instances of attacks disregarding i-frames, but also attacks doing no damage when they obviously hit me. This makes it impossible to learn the dodge timing. Also, no i-frames on hit recovery. This means you can get hit multiple times with the same attack.

Karakuri building isn't reliable. Sometimes the cursor changes position for no reason or a button input isn't recognized. This ruins your build and usually results in getting hit by a big attack.

Some enemy attacks have 100% tracking, and/or insufficient telegraph. They are in essence unavoidable. Emberplume triple fire geyser in one example.

These are only the worst examples I can think of. There are many others involving weapon balancing. Nodachi thread generation is a prime example.

I hope they fix these problems like the devs for Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky did. I really wanted to love Wild Hearts, but it just plain wasn't fun. It was frustrating, and I feel like I was cheated out of my money. 3/10.

Btw, I know people love this game, but that doesn't make it good. There are people who loved Forspoken after all. For those of you who love Wild Hearts, more power to you. I repect your opinion. I only hope you can respect mine.

    TL:DR
Wild hearts is a 3/10 with glaring gameplay problems.

A really shallow clon of Monster Hunter. People that give this game 10/10 must have played for first 5 hours. I spent 20 hours playing on PS5 and I am not going to write about abysmal performance. The problem is with the game itself. Really simple weapons (staff is the only complicated weapon) that mostly depend on usage of Karakuri. Absolutely stupid hitboxes of monster and pathethic boss fights (the bird fight in the city is one of the worst gaming moments of 2023 for me (so far). Monsters move like they are on drugs and if you play in co-op the game is ultra-easy mode where monsters die in 4-5 minutes. There is no fun in that. When you play solo you have to wait 1 minute for an opening in monster moveset OR spam karakuri that stunlock the thing you fight. There is no depth in the fight system and the game is getting boring fast. As soon as you get to chapter 3 you have to fight RECOLOR of monsters you already met (they get 1 new attack) to farm materials for new armors and weapons. Seriously, how is this compeling for anyone? I played all monster hunters game from 3ds onwards and always were looking forward to new monsters. Here in Wild Hearts you fight the same bird but water element instead of poison, the same toxic rat, stronger monkey that is lava based and so on and so on. Boring! I sold my copy and will wait for continuation to MH World, which was the peak of monster hunting games. Expand

After spending most of the last year on Sunbreak which I loved across platforms, Omega Force and EA's Wild Hearts is a perfect complement for Monster Hunter fans looking to play another great game in the genre. While it is unfortunately held back by technical issues, Wild Hearts does a lot that takes the genre forward, and I can't wait to keep playing the postgame through the coming months while we hopefully get more updates.

Wild Hearts is a decent proposal for the hunting genre and especially for those that seek something more accessible. At the same time the karakuri (construction) mechanism is a good and quite clever addition to the genre.

For every success, Wild Hearts makes several mistakes. There's a great concept behind all this, but the design problems, the poor balance and the technical errors make this title fall far short of what it was meant to be.
