Pro Skater 3+4 has been lovingly restored by Iron Galaxy, a different developer than the Pro Skater 1+2 remake (which was handled by Vicarious Visions) – and not the same people who made the 2000s games either. But somehow they’ve captured the feeling and nuance of those heady originals where it was as much fun laughing your head off at an audacious failure as it was pulling off a breathless sequence and landing on your feet.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and 4 is another example of how to breathe new life into a classic without losing touch with what makes the originals great. There is plenty of replay value thanks to online mode and important improvements to the Create-A-Park mode.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 sticks the landing with a clean kickflip and a modern twist. Iron Galaxy may have sanded off some of THPS4’s open-ended charm, but what’s left is a fine-tuned tribute to skateboarding. With excellent controls, deeper creation tools, and a diverse music and character roster (shoutout to our Aussie legends), the game is accessible and ridiculously fun. Even with a few bails, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 proves the Birdman’s legacy can still shred.

Another excellent remake, in the vein of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, this retains the glorious character of the original games, while adding a coat of modern polish and a smattering of new content.

If you can live with the differences, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is a highly addictive and thus an exceptionally entertaining skateboarding title for both us old-timers and new players alike. It offers enough new content to make up for the missing stuff, so I personally didn’t find the omissions all that bothersome.

These new remakes are highly entertaining, immediately gripping and hard to put down. However, the simplification of the career mode and the soundtrack leaves a lot to be desired. Despite this, it's a very entertaining experience.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 takes the easy route by delivering a game that feels almost identical to the previous remaster, but falls short due to a number of choices that cut back on the original content. With nearly unchanged gameplay, little to no meaningful innovation, trimmed features, and underwhelming visuals, the overall experience ends up feeling diminished.
