Other than a few frame rate issues, the game runs smoothly most of the time, which is essential given its heavy emphasis on platforming. This and missed gameplay opportunities don't stop the game from being a cute and compelling 3D platformer. Exploring a civilisation built upon books and rulers is a delight to travel around and unwind with of an evening.

A purposefully under-designed platformer that takes several cues from Pikmin but forges ahead with its own distinctive take on a platforming comfort game.

    - underwhelming tinykin types in second half of the game
    - not a lot of story

    Review

Tinykin is my biggest surprise of the year. It went from a game that I thought would never resonate with me, to one of the cutest experiences that I loved every second of. It was one of the most pleasant and calming platformers I have ever played (although until now i wasn't really a big fan of the genre).

The main highlight of this game for me was exploration of its diverse and beautifully crafted open locations accompanied by adaptive theme music that smoothly changed as I progressed through different parts of the area. Thing that makes exploration even more entertaining is really satisfying movement system with levitation bubble, some tinykin to help treversal and possibility to ride a 'skateboard' of sort. It is a joy to try and find all collectibles on every stage in the game which makes it great for completionists.

Parts where game lacks a bit are story and tinykin themselves. As per story, we are presented with opening and ending cut scenes and short dialogues with NPCs during gameplay. As I played I could feel that it wasn't the main focus for development team. It was interesting to unravel new information about relations between different 'kingdoms', but it definitely wasn't the main appeal for me. As per tinykin types, I feel like the first half was much more interesting mechanically and gameplay-wise, while the last few tiny kin we discover are a little let down as they didn't add anything new to the gameplay.

My expiriences with Tinykin was completely glitchless with stable 60fps as far as my eyes can tell. Its a bit shame that game doesn't use dualsence trigger functions as it may have added some depth to gameplay side. Other than that controls work flawlessly and are very intuitive and straightforward.

Whole game took me around 7.5h to finish with some cleanup to do after story concluded which took me another 3h, closing at 10.5h with a platinum trophy.

    Amazingly funny game!

Remembered me "It takes two" but for 1 player.

Fast movements, fast story, puzzles, addictive! Amazing!
