I don’t want to spoil much about the experience here and just want to highlight that The Talos Principle II is a very well-crafted experience. From what I can tell, it’s a definite improvement over the original game, refining ideas and concepts in a way that makes this feel like the definitive experience for the series. It’s also nice that as a newcomer I had little issue in understanding the world, figuring out the puzzle mechanics, and learning the overall story across the dozen or so hours it took me to complete it. It might be difficult to find the time to fit The Talos Principle II into your gaming schedule considering how absolutely packed this year has been, but I think you’ll find it worth doing so.

Talos Principle 2 is the best puzzler since 2011. This is as good as the genre gets and absolutely essential for puzzle game fans.

We wondered how the developer would top the phenomenal first entry in this mind-boggling series, and it’s done so by providing a veritable feast of varied and engaging puzzles, backed up with thoughtful philosophy and stunning visuals that heighten its light exploration elements. If you play just one puzzle game this year make it this one. In fact, we’d go as far to say that The Talos Principle 2 is one of the best puzzle games of all time.

Talos Principle 2 proves to be a worthy successor of the excellent first game. Once more its puzzles are designed almost to perfection and its deeply philosophical story provides an integral gravitas to the whole adventure.

It took a long time, but Croteam has finally brought us a sequel to The Talos Principle. Expect a hefty amount of fun puzzles, interesting philosophical discussions and beautiful environments to enjoy. Everything you knew from the original is in this game, but better. It is unfortunate that the frame rate is not stable and the game has pop-in, but that is fairly negligible against the experience in the end, because as an overall package it is fantastic.

Like Portal and other puzzle games, The Talos Principle 2 is a small wonder that, in this case, does not stop at its intelligent challenges or its technical section. It spices its story with decisions and philosophical reflections that invite to think, even once the story is over. A small wonder, already available in physical format.

The Talos Principle 2 is just as brilliant as the first game was, being larger and more detailed. During the over 30 hours it needs to finish, the fans of the puzzle genre will be delighted and immersed in a world that serves almost as a philosophical lesson. The already great puzzle design is now joined by a brilliant narrative and a pretty good pacing. There is no real replay value, but the content is rich enough to keep you engaged for a long while.

This sequel is yet another fantastic puzzle game, and while the core remains unchanged, the search for grandiosity in the second part may feel detrimental. It will depend on the player, but sometimes we felt we just wanted to solve puzzles and the game was taking us away from them.
