Mar 7, 2025Overall, Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter is an exceptional sequel for an already great experience. The new additions to weapons and armour are great, using magic is fun, and who doesn't love a grappling hook. Its story may repeat plot points from the original but it's never an issue. It still provides a good amount of lore to sink your teeth into alongside new and old characters. I look forward to future updates providing more content for an already great game.

Mar 17, 2025Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter took me by surprise, successfully combining blatant inspirations from the big cheeses of action RPGs and reinterpreting them in a fine, nibble-sized package. It looks simultaneously beautiful and intentionally rough, and its combat is challenging but (mostly) fair. I’m not sure it needs to continue doubling in size with its potential third entry—it’s a little fighter, and rat’s good enough.

Mar 12, 2025Much like its predecessor, Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter is a solid roguelike action RPG with plenty of entertainment. However, the similarities to the first game are so pronounced that it sometimes feels like a retread rather than a true sequel. This is especially evident in the core gameplay mechanics and environments, which, while still enjoyable, hold the game back from taking the series to the next level.

Feb 27, 2025Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter is the kind of action game that surprises you, even after an already impressive first chapter. The storytelling is beautiful, albeit simple, and the combat system is effective for an indie title that has already captured the hearts of many.
-
Jan 27, 2025Tails of Iron 2 is a successful sequel that sensibly improves on the strengths of its predecessor and adds fun systems.
-
Jan 27, 2025Tails Of Iron 2 is an accomplished follow-up that builds on the elements that its predecessor brought to the fold. Whether you're familiar with this series or a newcomer to the fray, there's a lot to be impressed by here.
-
Jan 27, 2025A new cast of characters and a change of setting make Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter welcoming to newcomers, while new gameplay features such as elemental spells freshen up the gameplay for returning players. Ultimately it's an improved sequel, and one that's every bit as charming as the original game.
-
Jan 27, 2025Embracing its strengths and main qualities, Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter is a solid sequel, with a fun and challenging combat, impeccable art style and an always interesting universe. However, the innovations do not add much to make the game a natural evolution and ends up becoming too safe a bet.
-
Jan 27, 2025Tails of Iron 2 Whiskers of Winter is a good and fun sequel that offers enough to keep you loving the soulslike RPG universe created by the humble Odd Bug Studio. However, lacking the wow factor of the first instalment of the saga and with some little errors, this game could have used a little something new in terms of design.
-
Apr 8, 2025Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter makes up for it with its impressive combat, detailed visuals, interesting medieval fantasy with animals and a narrative that heightens the atmosphere. However, the game fails to build on the achievements of its predecessor and suffers from superficial systems, bland level design, unnecessary backtracking and repetitive and unbalanced fights. The new epic of the rat kingdom may please with what it has good, but it will not impress those who played the first one.
-
Mar 3, 2025Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter is a continuist proposal that is still able to stand out with great charm and personality. A tribute to fantasy classics and a story of revenge seasoned with humor, tragedy and little animals everywhere.
-
Feb 21, 2025The developers of Tails of Iron 2 certainly played it safe with the sequel. The additions, such as the hook, feel underdeveloped, and overall, it could simply be described as ‘more of the same.’ Nevertheless, anyone who enjoyed battling the frogs will likely have a good time fighting the army of bats, as the game still offers tight combat and a well-balanced challenge.
-
Jan 27, 2025Overall, you have a game that doubles down on what fans loved about Tails of Iron while expanding in smart ways. There are some rough edges, but it's ultimately a superior sequel and a fun, challenging adventure.
-
Jan 27, 2025I was more excited than a mouse starting on a cheese-dinner to finally play Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter, particularly after I had such a great time with the original game, but this sequel left me underwhelmed. Sure, the same gorgeous world to explore and brutal combat to endure is present and correct, but it is bogged down by poorly implemented and unnecessary new gameplay mechanics hold it back.
-
Jan 27, 2025A promising set-up and gorgeous art direction aren't enough to mask the shortcomings of Odd Bug Studio's sequel.
