Syberia - Remastered is successful re-release (especially visually) that remains faithful to the original, though it could perhaps have been refined a bit more towards a modern gameplay experience. However, in my book, the points of criticism are so minor that they don’t spoil the experience at all. On the contrary: even in its remastered form, Syberia remains one of the finest works of its genre from the 2000s. Hopefully the sequel will receive an equally polished treatment in the future, as the first game famously ends on quite a cliffhanger.

Syberia - Remastered is a classic adventure game and this new iteration certainly delivers a unique clockpunk aesthetic that the series is known for. It's still difficult to move around and there are bugs but if you're a fan of adventure games, you'll be happy to play this.

Syberia Remastered is definitely faithful to the spirit of the original version. Although this new version includes some welcome modernizations, it builds on the foundations of the 2002 title to bring players today a cult French point-and-click adventure story. However, it's a shame that Microids didn't take the step of remaking the game to push the concept further and perhaps avoid some of the clunky mechanics and technical flaws. Nevertheless, the game remains sincere and offers a nostalgic journey that is still worth checking out in 2025.

Even though we now get to explore Syberia’s beautiful world in full 3D, some of the game’s old charm has been lost in the process. The original voice lines remain intact, but the classic note-taking system—an important part of the experience—is sadly gone.

A remaster that toys with nostalgia, adds visual polish, and rekindles my love of puzzles, but small technical issues plague Syberia Remaster.

A product of its time, revamped for the present, Syberia Remastered offers a sleeker look at the start of Kate Walker's adventures but loses a bit of the original's magic in the process.

As much as I wanted to love Syberia, I was never fully grabbed and, in fact, was repelled by its straightforward and slow puzzles and the story that goes nowhere (and not even fast, at that!). If Amerzone was pure pulpy fun, Syberia is one of those disappointing magazines with an amazing cover illustration.

If you enjoyed Syberia in 2002, this is the best way to experience it again. If you’ve never heard of Syberia before this, it might not hit the same way. There is a compelling story, world, and cast of characters at the heart of Syberia - Remastered, however, it’s hard to recommend to everyone. Not all modern players will have the patience to get through Kate Walker’s clunky movement, the puzzles that will have you repetitively running back and forth, and the easy-to-miss objects and interactions that will frustrate you and slow you down. This is certainly the ultimate way to play Syberia now, but I’m not sure everyone will want to.

Syberia returns after 23 years and shines only in part. The world of automatons looks wonderful in its new visuals, and the story remains faithful to the original. If nothing else had been changed, this would have been a dream come true. Unfortunately, the developers could not resist altering certain systems in illogical ways, seemingly neglected proper testing, and outright undermined their own work by leaving several sections in the original visuals, which completely breaks the carefully built immersion. The result is a game that is ultimately neither for newcomers nor for veterans, although the latter may manage to enjoy it through nostalgia, squinting past the flaws, and gritting their teeth.

Microids managed to update the cult classic quest in terms of visuals, but the developers of Syberia – Remastered treated the other elements carelessly, also simplifying the puzzles, which are one of the game's key components.

Syberia Remastered is like a beautiful but empty frame — polished on the outside, yet lacking any real substance within to justify the time or money. It remains a game frozen in the era of its original release, never adapting to modern standards. This remaster was the perfect opportunity to fix that, but unfortunately, it’s an opportunity that was completely wasted.

Syberia isn’t going to be for everyone, and it likely won’t be for you. Point-and-click games aren’t very relevant these days for a reason, and it’s largely because the industry has moved towards more player-friendly experiences. This remaster is a great opportunity to experience a bit of the past, but I doubt it will have many people reminiscing about the way things used to be.
