Apr 22, 2025Steel Seed is a remarkable experience, with an engaging protagonist, an impactful setting and versatile gameplay that invites experimentation. The combination of action, stealth and exploration is well executed, and the world-building and emotional narrative easily engage the player. However, technical issues such as occasional bugs and excessive darkness in important parts of the game compromise the immersion and fluidity of the experience, preventing the title from reaching an even higher level. Despite this, the overall work is solid and deserves to be highlighted, especially for those who value games with a strong narrative appeal and dense atmospheres.

Apr 30, 2025Steel Seed from developer Storm in a Teacup is a gorgeous and stunning stealth-action game that does a lot of things right, but also stumbles at times with difficulty.
-
Apr 23, 2025An industrial post-cataclysmic stealth platformer well worth your time and attention.
-
Apr 22, 2025Steel Seed's mix of Tomb Raider platforming and Tenchu-esque stealth makes it feel like a relic from the Xbox 360 generation but, hey, that was the best generation of gaming and Steel Seed does it all in a very accomplished way.

Apr 22, 2025Steel Seed is not going to win any awards for originality, but it's a solid stealth-focused action adventure game that is entertaining throughout.
-
Apr 22, 2025Steel Seed offers an enjoyable mix of stealth, parkour, and combat, with Koby adding variety to the gameplay. While the robots lack personality and the difficulty can feel unfair at times, it remains an entertaining experience.

Apr 22, 2025We already gave Steel Seed the insider tip label in our hands-on-preview. And … we weren't far off the mark! The action-stealth-game impresses with its well-implemented gameplay formula and also boasts a great design for its science-fiction world.
-
Apr 22, 2025Steel Seed is a delightful surprise as its blend of stealth, action, puzzles, and some of the best stage designs in the genre make it stand out as an exceptional experience. Even with its obvious shortcomings, I recommend playing this gem for sure.
-
Apr 23, 2025Steel Seed successfully blends its inspirations into a compelling sci-fi adventure that feels both fresh and familiar. It truly shines during its climbing and cinematic platforming segments, delivering memorable moments that echo its influences without feeling derivative. While the stealth mechanics stand out, thanks to a variety of tools and strategies for silent takedowns, the melee combat feels less refined by comparison. Technical issues do occasionally hinder the experience, but they’re not enough to derail what is ultimately a focused and engaging journey, especially for fans of the genre’s classics.

Jun 5, 2025Steel Seed doesn't do anything particularly new, but it does recreate tried and true gameplay and traversal elements and wraps it in a stunning presentation. I have trouble with the final act as I think it falls a bit short of the promise the first two acts build up to, but overall the complete package is a pretty good game marked by solid mechanics and progression. It settles into a core loop but encourages you to explore options to play that out, and for the most part offers a pretty cool narrative wrapping neat ideas into a gorgeous bit of world building.
-
Apr 22, 2025In terms of pure enjoyment, Steel Seed gets the job done with tight stealth design and meaningful upgrades that can utterly alter your approach to enemies, but its lackluster narrative and peculiar action incorporations can make the experience feel dull and unfocused. If you’ve been craving a new stealth adventure, Steel Seed may scratch that itch, though you’ll need to temper expectations before diving in.
-
May 1, 2025This video game is based on a gameplay loop of platforming and combat phases, with a strong emphasis on stealth. These phases are repeated over and over again, offering a boring experience due to their length. Neither aspect is satisfying.
-
Jul 9, 2025Despite a predictable story and underwhelming stealth and combat mechanics, Steel Seed manages to entertain with its nostalgic approach to linear sci-fi adventures, an engaging atmosphere, and some visually striking moments, though frequent bugs, rough controls, and technical issues hold it back.
-
Apr 22, 2025Steel Seed attempts to explore multiple genres like stealth, action, and platforming, and while it presents some interesting ideas, it falls somewhere between playing it safe and sticking to the basics. The story has potential, but the whole experience is limited by cliched mechanics and a gloomy visual aesthetic. It might differentiate itself from the competition if its concepts were improved.
-
Apr 22, 2025A competent action adventure with a focus on stealth and platforming, Steel Seed is a fun enough romp through futuristic giga-architecture. It’s unintended glitches and unresponsive combat bring it down, and the overall package isn’t all that compelling when better examples exist elsewhere.
-
Apr 22, 2025An ambitious and visually arresting double-A adventure, that blends Assassin’s Creed’s stealth with Halo’s epic scenery, but which is compromised by a litany of minor technical issues.
-
Apr 22, 2025Steel Seed tries to be exciting in several aspects and fails in all of them. Through a weak narrative and shallow characters, this science fiction is marked by more mistakes than successes.
