Infuse Studio has finally achieved what seemed to be its goal from the very first game: to create poetry in the form of a video game.

With its visual beauty, atmospheric storytelling and engaging puzzles, this is a must play for fans of the original or for those looking for similar games such as Journey and Abzû, this mystical fox’s journey is one worth embarking on.

As an experience Spirit of the North 2 has its good sides and mostly feels fine, if you have an idea where to go on. As a game with its technically average graphics and bad guided gameplay, what's part of the experience, it is not fully conditioned for a mainstream audience.

If you're familiar with Spirit of the North, this sequel may impress you with its evolutionary strides over its predecessor, such as granting you an open expanse to explore at your leisure, not to mention the fact it's double the length of the previous title. For newcomers, Spirit of the North 2 has an enchanting and calming essence you'll gravitate towards despite its technical shortcomings and unnecessary upgrade system.

While seeking to expand beyond its predecessor, the second chapter is burdened with both existing and new difficulties.

Spirit of the North 2 is both a "more of the same" of the first chapter and a missed opportunity for the development team to take flight with a superior quality product. The Lore and the game-design are amazing, this is undeniable, but the technical problems and the superficiality in the interface make the gameplay difficult and cumbersome, preventing us from giving him a higher than sufficient rating. And it's honestly a shame...

Spirit of the North 2 has its moments in its beautiful landscapes, relaxing music, and overall cozy vibes. Unfortunately, everything else is pretty underwhelming. The open world has nothing special to discover and mostly feels like a chore to navigate through, which is a shame considering the game forces the player to search the map for necessary items to progress. Even worse, the game has a ton of bugs that are downright frustrating, such as a boss refusing to attack, audio cutting out, lighting issues in some areas that make it nearly impossible to see, and environments refusing to spawn. Spirit of the North 2 isn't a bad game, and some dungeons are a ton of fun, but it's clear the game needed more time in the oven and would have benefited in a linear format.

Spirit of the North 2 isn't a complete lost cause, but it feels too rough and unpolished to qualify as anything more than wishful meandering.
