Sorry We’re Closed is a heavily stylized horror action adventure game that bleeds innovation. A bumping soundtrack and comfortable trepidation amalgamate to form a passionate and purposeful experience. An impressive narrative with a comical cast soaks in the exceptional and creative gameplay making this a trip into the demon world you don’t want to miss.

Sorry We’re Closed is a game that I will think about for a long time. It’s an experience I can’t recommend enough, whether you’re a hardcore fan of the horror genre or a passive admirer. Regardless of your interest in the genre, you will take away something vital from your time spent with this game. As for me, I cannot wait to replay Sorry We’re Closed one more time to see more of what the game has to say about the concept of love.

Sorry, We're Closed does a lot of things well: storytelling, organic world building, and writing. It even adds in its own twists on the horror genre, like the neon presentation and the way it delivers combat. The Third Eye makes for a nice touch as well. Aiming can be a finicky problem unless you turn on aim assist, and the game likes to throw a lot of enemies at you. Even with all that, Sorry, We're Closed is an easy recommendation and necessary content for anyone even claiming to be a horror fan.

Sorry We're Closed presents an unequal challenge in its gameplay as it flourishes in exploration and combat but slightly let down by its simplistic puzzle design. With that said, the game's story, themes, world building and style makes it one of the great nostalgic survival horrors of recent years.

Every time I feel frustrated by the combat, Sorry We're Closed will pop up with a beautiful character design, drop a great puzzle, squeeze out some catchy, snarky dialogue and then push me into a dungeon that recalls the heyday of survival horror. So, can I overlook it's one misstep, of course I can – particularly as this console release has made moves to smooth out this issue. Sorry We're Closed is an adventure worth opening.

Sorry We're Closed pays homage to the horror classics of the PS1 era while making that its main virtue. With creative mechanics and a striking atmosphere, its only flaw is its less than captivating narrative. But even so, when it comes to playing it, it's fun.

With strong inspirations from Persona and Silent Hill, Sorry We're Closed captures the essence of these franchises and puts its own DNA into a good narrative surrounded by allegories about prejudice, loneliness and love. As a survival horror, the game lacks in horror aspects, but still manages to deliver a solid experience with good combat and grotesque enemies.

I think Sorry We're Closed has a great sense of style. It's not for everyone and I do think the ubiquitous androgyny is overdone. The survival horror comparisons quickly subside due to combat and the narrative lacking in substance. I do enjoy the quick and snappy gun play but, atmospherically, there's no dread. Narratively, I find the cast to be lacking in nuance. They're all loud, just like the visuals. I think there's some ideas here and it's certainly a memorable game, it just seems more style over substance.
