Sniper Elite: Resistance is here, and it's not reinventing the wheel. It is the same craft that we've seen, with a more cheerful protagonist, in different locales. But that's not a bad thing, as Rebellion have only striven to improve the head-popping formula that they clearly care about. Another trip back behind enemy lines, Resistance is just as fun as any of the Sniper Elite's before it.

Sniper Elite Resistance is hilarious, chaotic fun. I encourage players to jump in — with a plan or otherwise — and just see how things play out in Rebellion’s expertly-crafted sandbox. Experiment, take risks, and above all else: fight the Nazis.

Sniper Elite: Resistance offers some fantastic locations to allow you to play however you want thanks to exciting missions and gameplay.

Sniper Elite: Resistance is easier and more fun-focused than past games. The shift is welcome, avoiding tedious repetition in more accessible difficulty modes.

It's not that Resistance is impossible to resist but this war machine has been finely honed over several instalments and offers a thrilling if predictable ride.

Sniper Elite: Resistance is a good addition to the series with tons to do. A stealthy approach is just as valid as going in guns blazing, how it pans out is down to you. The x-ray gore porn also returns for those that find it amusing. Yes, even the testicle shot. *sigh*

Sniper Elite: Resistance doesn't break new ground for the Sniper Elite franchise, nor does it break new ground for the stealth-action genre. But those weren't its intentions. What Sniper Elite: Resistance did intend to do was provide another fun, complete Sniper Elite experience that stays true to the aspects of the series fans have come to love, and it achieves exactly that.

Sniper Elite: Resistance delivers more of the excellent tactical stealth shooting action that Sniper Elite 5 boasted three years ago. It might be a familiar experience, but for genre fans, it's still an easy recommendation.

There is nothing particularly revolutionary about Sniper Elite: Resistance, but games don't always need to do that to be good. This is a fun game that serves as a window to an important part of history, and if you enjoyed Sniper Elite 5, you will most definitely love this. If you are new to the franchise, I highly recommend giving this a go if you crave that tactical espionage fix typically associated with classic Metal Gear. Just remember: headshots only.

Let’s be real here. Sniper Elite: Resistance clearly doesn’t reinvent the series, as it simply expands on where Sniper Elite 5 left off. Those looking for a full fledged next-generation sequel will surely be disappointed, but those looking to play more Sniper Elite will rejoice at the small refinements introduced in this new package. Viva la Sniper Elite 5.5!

Sniper Elite: Resistance's switch of scenery to France proves to be the correct move for the series. Fans of the Sniper Elite series will find plenty to enjoy with this Resistance.

Sniper Elite: Resistance may not innovate much on the series' standard blueprint, but it's still a challenging, rewarding, and deeply satisfying adventure.

If you are someone, like me, who adored Sniper Elite 5 and are simply after more of the engrossing, visceral, and malleable stealth and sniping action provided by it, then you can’t go wrong with Sniper Elite: Resistance. It delivers a robust, ultra-replayable campaign that still has me hooked and a bevy of multiplayer modes if you want to dabble further after you’ve shattered all the skulls the campaign has to offer.

A case of evolution rather than revolution, Sniper Elite: Resistance uses what came before to create something that's familiar, but consistently fun and occasionally tense. Plentiful collectibles and unlocks throughout the campaign, and a fantastic invasion mode, ensure this will last long past the final mission.

Packed with that familiar caliber of intriguing level design and emergent gameplay, Sniper Elite: Resistance may not be the most radical of changes, but it undoubtedly makes up for it in its retaining the series’ joyous curating of tactile shots and careful planning alike.

Sniper Elite: Resistance is a solid, but very consistent, game. The series' shooter formula continues to perform well, but it's true that it needs a change of scenery and improvements to its mechanics. This game is recommended for new/older fans of the series, but not for those looking for changes.

Sniper Elite: Resistance delivers satisfying sniper gameplay with diverse tactical approaches, though the story is negligible and the campaign lacks variety. While the improved X-Ray Killcam impresses, limited movement and technical issues occasionally break immersion.

Rebellion delivers a polished but conservative entry that feels more like an expansion than a full sequel, keeping its enjoyable mix of stealth, action, and exploration intact. While the core gameplay remains satisfying with large maps and flexible approaches to missions, the lack of innovation and graphical improvements makes it feel like Sniper Elite 5.5 rather than a true step forward.

The Sniper Elite franchise itself is a whole lot of fun and a very different take on the World War era than most first-person shooter games. With the freedom to tackle each mission in whichever way you want, not to mention that it is already on Game Pass for Xbox and PC players, you have no reason not to jump in, have some fun, and shoot some Nazis in the testicles.

Sniper Elite: Resistance doesn’t bring much innovation to the long-running series. While the solid level design and excellent sniping mechanics keep it fun, the familiar formula is starting to feel stale after so many entries.

Sniper Elite: Resistance is a reasonable continuation of the franchise, its sniping highs remain as amusing as ever thanks to some neat environmental gameplay, but much of its content rehashes what came before instead of evolving the series concept for a true next-gen sequel.
  22. 75
Sniper Elite: Resistance offers up just as much, if not more than Sniper Elite 5 did. But despite a new campaign, a new story and a new protagonist, it still doesn't take enough steps to right any of the notable wrongs from Sniper Elite 5. But regardless of its shortcomings, Sniper Elite: Resistance is a fun and satisfying shooter. Just don't expect it to do much more than the previous games.

Though Sniper Elite: Resistance ranks somewhat lower on the scale of games in the long-running franchise thanks to small bugs and a milquetoast campaign and protagonist, engaging in some sandbox Nazi-killing is still as fun as it’s ever been. From every viscerally satisfying shot that can sail through a Nazi’s skull to the hectic gunfights that hectically erupt across the battlefield, what remains as stellar as ever is the high-octane action. The game is bolstered by the emphasis on replayability with the quality of additional game modes and the fact it’s a side-offering to the main Sniper Elite narrative, leaving it a fitting venture for newcomers and veteran Nazi slayers. No matter who you are, Sniper Elite: Resistance is an action shooter game worth your time because, and say it with me, all Nazis must die.

Sniper Elite: Resistance delivers Rebellions patented action-stealth-experience. While the gameplay remains intense and enjoyable, the presentation and the handling need an overhaul for the next parts of the series.

Sniper Elite: Resistance doesn't add or take away from the series' typical formula. The spectacular, varied and bloody kill cams remain spectacular and the level design of different levels allows for different approaches to completing missions. At the same time, the series is starting to feel the need for a refresh on several fronts, which we hope will arrive together with a new numbered iteration.

Sniper Elite: Resistance is a good game. It is not pushing new ground for the series except in the multiplayer functionality. What Rebellion has made is a solid title that expands carefully on the concepts of the previous game without rocking the boat. An explosive and gut-exploding dose of sniper fun. If this doesn't explode your testicles, nothing will!

Resistance doesn’t introduce any major innovations, but it once again delivers a solid mix of action and mission planning, which is the Rebellion’s winning formula. However, the series can no longer rely solely on its signature cinematic kills to stay relevant. A general refresh, including technical improvements, is becoming necessary before the franchise risks slipping into a nostalgic more of the same repetition.

If you know the franchise well, then you know exactly what to expect. With that, Sniper Elite: Resistance is very familiar in everything, but at the same time that is also a downside: it offers virtually no innovation. Even in terms of content - apart from the locations and missions - it is mostly more of the same. The fine level design makes up for a lot in that regard, and the game is fine in its own right, but some innovation or progress wouldn't hurt.

    70
Sniper Elite: Resistance is another addition to the series that uses the old tried and tested recipe with satisfying sniper mechanics and open mission design, but it lacks significant innovation and suffers from technical problems. Inconsistent opponent AI and outdated graphics limit it, making it a game mostly for dedicated fans.

It's the stealth experience that you expect from a Sniper Elite game. While not revolutionary in any way, and even does some things pretty badly, Sniper Elite: Resistance still manages to provide a decent experience that won't stick with you for long.
  31. 70
Altogether, Sniper Elite: Resistance is a fine entry in the Sniper Elite franchise which gives us more insight into Harry Hawker, as well as a shiny protagonist spotlight for him to be recognized in. The meat and potatoes (or should that be bullets and bones?) of the Sniper Elite experience is all here and accounted for, and although there are various new locations to be in awe of, and navigational options to test out, Resistance fails to truly push the envelope in exciting directions despite shifting the focus onto a new hero and a new story.

Those who have played and enjoyed Sniper Elite 5 are likely to slide into Sniper Elite: Resistance like a glove. Over familiarity might be an issue for some, though, and there are some other minor issues to consider as well, such as sub-par visuals. But overall, lining up the perfect shot and watching the aftermath via the x-ray kill cam is as entertaining as ever.

A fully-featured mid-generation slab of enjoyable Nazi-shooting, that has only a few unique ideas but still manages to remain compelling throughout.

    70
Sniper Elite: Resistance serves as more of a stopgap than a full-blown sequel to Sniper Elite 5, so much of that experience — including its highs and lows — carries over two and a half years later. Its sniping action truly is elite, but the gunplay surrounding it still needs work. Equally, the Invasion Mode is again a standout while enemy AI remains frustrating at times. It is more of the same. However, when that similarity is a fairly unique model in the first place, Sniper Elite: Resistance just about gets away with it.

    70
Sniper Elite: Resistance offers more of the same action with virtually no surprises and a dull World War 2 story. That’s perfectly fine considering that the Rebellion team is still great at the one thing they’ve dedicated their career to doing: creating tightly designed murder playgrounds for those who want to vent their real world political frustrations in the safety of a virtual shooting gallery.

Sniper Elite: Resistance is exactly what you expect a Sniper Elite game to be and it's good and familiar comfort food for connoisseurs of the series.

Sniper Elite Resistance keeps all the qualities and, unfortunately, all of the flaws of the previous numbered entry, of which is more a stand-alone downloadable content than a sequel. The problem is that the price is that of a full-blown game, and if you value it as such, it's much harder to overlook the massive reuse of mechanics, assets and maps. Still a solid buy for the long-time fans of Karl Fairburne, but not the overhaul the series desperately need.

Sniper Elite: Resistance is well made, and offers a strong challenge for gamers who like a slower pace to their gun games than the likes of Call of Duty. It offers nothing particularly new though and isn’t top tier when it comes to both gameplay and graphics.

Sniper Elite: Resistance doesn’t rip up the rule book, it sticks to what it does best and delivers another set of stunning sandboxes to poke around in. The sniping and hilariously detailed X-ray kills are just as satisfying as ever, and the new Propaganda missions are perfect for those looking to test their mettle away from the campaign.

Sniper Elite: Resistance might be worth a look if you love the series and want more of the same. Unfortunately that's all you get, and the formula has grown rather stale.
