Jun 11, 2022I'll take the blame for not doing my research before buying this game. That aside, the game ended up not hitting the mark on voice acting, was buggy, and even on sale it wasn't worth the price tag.

Apr 17, 2022Road 96 is one of those games that take me a long time to be able to review.
As someone who loved the 2012 game "Journey", I can not help but love the idea of a road trip sort of game with a little more plot.
But unfortunately, the story gave me a hard time escaping the problems we're facing every day.
Nevertheless, it is quite enjoyable and I've had a lot of fun until now. -
Jan 26, 2023A stylish indie game with a interconnected narrative split across multiple playthroughs. Energy and Money are vital and clever mechanics however I think the whole hitchhiking element was underutilised and wasn't used it to its potential.

On my 2nd playthrough
Different story the 2nd time.

LEVEL (Czech Republic)Jan 29, 2024However, porting to the console was not without its own problems. The biggest one definitely being the control, which uses the joystick-controlled cursor even in completely illogical moments. Despite this, however, this is an adventure game from the road story genre that is worth experiencing. [Issue#320]

PLAYJun 22, 2022Your travels will be filled with seedy motels, grubby gas stations, and highway pit stops as Road 96 is a tale that’s constantly in motion. The story it weaves from your multiple playthroughs and different decisions is incredibly clever, and even though the political events that underpin the story are a little tedious, it manages to capture the freedom of travelling but also the tension of trying to survive. A road trip to remember. [Issue#15, p.87]

May 7, 2022While Road 96 lacks consistency in its quality and its approach to politics is occasionally superficial, it's a necessary game that raises an important topic of discussion. There are few products that deal with politics and its consequences so directly in this media. The innovative take on the theme highlights this game amidst an avalanche of good offerings, justifying the experience. Road 96 isn't perfect, but it has great ideas and a spectacular soundtrack!
