Good game, good history I played because I was bored and buyied it idk why the name surprised me and I had so much fun. The history have everything: drama, scares, sad moments, tension, good moments, minigames. Everything

I'll take the blame for not doing my research before buying this game. That aside, the game ended up not hitting the mark on voice acting, was buggy, and even on sale it wasn't worth the price tag.

Road 96 is an ambitious game that mostly sticks the landing. The chapters are fun to play through with enough variety and nice character moments to add to the overarching story that develops in an interesting snowball-effect way. It doesn't outstay its welcome and by the end, I was very happy to have experienced it.

Very Dull. I stream everything and this ugly game left me wanting more. I don't understand the love.

This game reminds me slightly of Life Is Strange, and for all good reasons. I completed the game (with Platinum trophy) a few days ago, and I must say, it was a fantastic and memorable experience. Story is good, characters are likeable, music makes a beautiful atmosphere... For me Road 96 was absolutely perfect in every way.

Road 96 is one of those games that take me a long time to be able to review.
As someone who loved the 2012 game "Journey", I can not help but love the idea of a road trip sort of game with a little more plot.
But unfortunately, the story gave me a hard time escaping the problems we're facing every day.
Nevertheless, it is quite enjoyable and I've had a lot of fun until now.

Pretty good story game, with very unique gameplay. Interesting characters and mostly interesting side stories. Plays like a roguelike/interactive game, but it is actually pretty linear. Expand

This is a weird journey. Road 96 is not really a game, but more of an odd political experimental piece. This really has nothing to do with 1996, the music is wrong, the details don't quite line up to anything screaming 'Summer of 96. The graphics, is the only thing relatable to 96. Thank you Digixart for this experience. One of the most beautiful games I've ever played. I just completed the first playthrough, and for the first time in my 30 years of gaming history, I NEED to go back and re-play it to make some things right.
It's the first game after Detroit Become Human that made me go deep in myself and look for the right things to say and question my choices.

I wish games like this were made more often. Much more than just a game, it was a perfect,well-written heart-touching story. Thanks.

Cool game with nice graphics and wonderful music! Some game mechanics / minigames were poor / too simple and/or not obvious for me, but in general - strongly recommend!

Tells a fantastic story with music and Beauty that it sucks you in from the start! There's nothing quite like it that I found!

A stylish indie game with a interconnected narrative split across multiple playthroughs. Energy and Money are vital and clever mechanics however I think the whole hitchhiking element was underutilised and wasn't used it to its potential.

Quick background on me the reviewer, I tend to like single player games that is heavy on narrative the most. I also play a lot of racing games and use to play multiplayer games in my high school days but now that it's hard for me and my friends to find a good time to link up so now it’s more rare for me to get into a multiplayer game. Up to try any genre of games and sometimes I find something new that I didn't think I'd like. I own a PC (built by me), Xbox One X, Xbox Series X, PS3, PS4, PS5, and a Switch. I prefer Playstation due to their focus on narrative games. For scoring, I’ll be using the Gameinformer review scale and of course influenced by my personal opinions.

    (8) Very Good. Innovated, but perhaps not in the right choice for everyone. This score indicates that there are many good things to be had, but arguable so.

I just happened to give this game a try and I ended up enjoying this game. It reminded of that middle school video game that you played called, Oregon Trail. You’re hitchhiking to the border and run into random events that you have to make important decisions that may help you or may not help you to get to the border. There are multiple ways to hitchhike to the border and unlike the AAA games your choices have a significant impacts which makes it worth replaying repeatedly and it’s made that way. Whatever you do just make sure to continue playing the game even if you make it to the border. The only reason I’m not giving this game a higher score is because there isn’t much in the way of gameplay, movement is rough around the ages so other than a narrative reason there isn’t much I can go on to recommend this game to someone. This game has a good sound track and voice acting too.

The reason I liked the game so much is because it had a narrative that made feel the characters in a way not a lot of videogames can, altho the gameplay could be rather generic at times, the important thing is I enjoyed this game greatly

However, porting to the console was not without its own problems. The biggest one definitely being the control, which uses the joystick-controlled cursor even in completely illogical moments. Despite this, however, this is an adventure game from the road story genre that is worth experiencing. [Issue#320]

Your travels will be filled with seedy motels, grubby gas stations, and highway pit stops as Road 96 is a tale that’s constantly in motion. The story it weaves from your multiple playthroughs and different decisions is incredibly clever, and even though the political events that underpin the story are a little tedious, it manages to capture the freedom of travelling but also the tension of trying to survive. A road trip to remember. [Issue#15, p.87]

While Road 96 lacks consistency in its quality and its approach to politics is occasionally superficial, it's a necessary game that raises an important topic of discussion. There are few products that deal with politics and its consequences so directly in this media. The innovative take on the theme highlights this game amidst an avalanche of good offerings, justifying the experience. Road 96 isn't perfect, but it has great ideas and a spectacular soundtrack!
