    Worst game you will ever encounter, you will spend hours of gameplay with no rewards or reasonable progression upon a single mistake or death. Not to mention the random environment population makes it very hard to anticipate or learn from being killed by enemies/traps in previous runs. Total waste of money

    I've finished every Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro. This game is harder than all of them. It's like trying to play a souls game and being forced to start over if you die. I'm genuinely astonished by the positive reviews, because I think most people will hate how repedative and punishing this game is.

    This game is terrible, the story is so cliche, the fps drop is unforgivable, the camera makes you dizzy and the resolution can’t go further than the 1080p, NOT 4K.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'd like to love this game and even went in excited, but I quit after my fist cycle. I beat the first boss on my first cycle and made it, I'm guessing, 25-30% into the second biome/zone before dying to the second corrupted "Sentient" (pushed off of ledge with low health).

    That was Friday night before deciding to stop for the day.

    When starting up again the next morning and deciding to skip the competitive daily challenge I started my second cycle. As soon as I picked up a 1* weapon and realized weapon proficiency didn't carry over, I quit. The gameplay is solid and the story is interesting, but the weapon traits don't make enough of a difference to improve odds moving forward. It's not even about difficulty as much as it's about annoying gameplay mechanics.

    It's different when the game is something like Hades or Dead Cells where it's OK to start over with very little, but even THOSE games offered more permanent progression than this game, which just seems to be padding it's runtime more than anything else.

    If they ever patch in an "easy mode" where you can choose to keep more permanent progression (or even pick-and-choose what to keep, to customize difficulty), I'll gladly jump back on and finish it. But I just don't have the tolerance for a game of this scale trying to be a hardcore rogue-like.    … Expand

Também gostei menu do game nem jogabilidade. Não tem salvamento, não tem level assim fica difícil progredi game. Jogo e todo dificuldade tão exagerado.

    Until it gets a save and quit feature it is essentially unplayable for me. Add to that the issues with crashing losing you hours of progress and the negatives completely negate any gameplay positives.

    I have a busy work life. My time is really previous. I really enjoy gaming but I'm a casual gamer. I have put this game down for now and won't pick it up again until there is a proper save game feature. I really don't have time to lose hours and hours of progress everytime I die, or shut down the console or the game flashes.     está muy oscuro aún subiendo el gama de la tv, faltan puntos de salvado y la inteligencia artificial de los enemigos es de los años 70, o muy muy fácil o muy muy difícil. Esperen a que baje a 10 dolares que sin duda lo hará no vale la pena pagar el precio completo, hay mejores juegos en ps4 que esta decepción

    If you like wasting hours replaying the same content over and over again this is the game for you. You will die over and over again because the game didn't give you anything useful in the first couple areas. You can snowball and beat the game in a couple tries if you're lucky or you can just keep dying because you never get decent weapons or healing.     Not necessarily a difficult game. But when the game throws an enemy at you that isn’t a boss that is able to one hit you just to “advance the story”? That’s a bad tactic to pad it out. Other than that it was halfway fun and a beautiful way to show what the ps5 is capable of.

    On top of that there's the 70 USD price tag for what looks like a low-quality indie game instead of a AAA title. I have played indie games with much much MUCH better gameplay and story.

    Instead of fixing bugs with trophies, the developers suggested replaying the game. I found out about this after 60 hours of trying to knock out the missing trophy.

    This game is just stupidly difficult, played it for almost two days and couldn't get past the first level. Super hard boss at the end if you even make it there, and then you die and get to replay an hour again to get back there. The pickup and powerful system is absurdly complicated and vague while also having basically no impact on the gameplay. There are some upgrades that are permanent but they don’t make starting from the very beginning of the game upon death any easier or enjoyable.

    The punishing difficulty of the enemies and bosses combined with the fact that you lose all your weapons in progress every time you die and have to start from the very beginning of the game is what made me stop playing. If you’re considering buying this game really research it first because chances are you’ll get so frustrated with it that you’ll stop playing it like I did. The game doesn’t respect your time and has zero tolerance for failure. Buyer beware!    … Expand

    Un decepción total, me lo vendieron como juego de nueva generación y es un juego que fácilmente pude correr una PS4, sin 4k nativos como me lo vendieron mas la caída de frames en muchas partes, horas para poder guardar el juego, no lo recomiendo para nada, no tarda en estar e 30 dólares como le paso a TLOU2

    It's a hard game to look at this. The most unpleasant hero in the history of video gaming. Downgrade from Samus to this. The story is so banalic and simply. There is no ballance in this game. You have many useless items and no healing with boss saving, so enjoy the pain! Save your money and time, don't play it.

This game nothing that Rockstar Games have. It's not even Day Gone level. Not even Assassin's Creed or new Doom games. Not even Control level.

    No save option ruins the experience. I understand the game concept but checkpoint system also sucks. You should at least be able to sace your progress and game after beating the bosses.

The only progress you keep after multiple deaths due to the difficulty are data entries and script lines. You lose guns on death. You start from the beginning each death. Each run takes so long hours+Absolute trash game. Save your $70.     I find myself dying because I'm unable to accurately judge the environment behind me and bump into something. You constantly need to jump and dash and you can't aim at the same time, this is annoying with a gamepad, simply a poor design choice. The bullethell-style gameplay requires this and it's just not fully working with a thirdperson perspective, it's janky at best.

    The projectiles are bright and the enemies light up, sometimes. Yet many enemies just merge with the background textures and more often than not you can't see them properly. The projectiles also vanish inside dense grass models just to appear suddenly and hit you. The HUD elements and particle effects are so dense that enemies and projectiles get obscured when you're aiming at them. That exponentially increases the difficulty in avoiding anything and you'd think this would be such a simple and obvious thing to not mess up so badly.

    The adrenaline effect makes your screen light up red when you kill enemies and the first time I experienced this I thought I took damage - that's just a little detail to illustrate how they messed up basic design choices.

    The game is visually stunning and the sound design is good, the vibration functions of the PS5 controller are also well implemented. But the difficulty is needlessly increased by annoying control and gameplay design decisions that I just can't comprehend in the least and sometimes seem objectively wrong.

    If dying would feel like it's unquestionably my fault then at least I had myself to blame. But frequently dying because I'm unable to properly see anything or extreme spikes in difficulty just feels cheap. Way too expensive for a game that is so hit and miss. The way it is now I will likely never be good enough to handle the bogus difficulty aspects of the game to finish it.

    I'm surprised at the critic score. Apparently the game offered more healing options a few patches ago, that surely would be something I'd have welcomed because there are not nearly enough health pickups around (many of them inaccessible until you unlock some item later on). In fact before reaching the first boss there are never any health pickups nearby but plenty of opportunities to take damage. That just goes to show how the enforced difficulty of this game is far above average.    … Expand

    This is pretty decent roguelike. And if the price would be 35$ i would give this game solid 8/10. But since the price is set as high as AAA blockbuster i will compare Returnal to any other 70$ AAA product and it don't stand any chance.

    The game crashes a lot making me lose tons of progress. Every once in a while after a crash the doors won't open. Also the framerate drops a lot, when you go through the circle doors the fps drops hard.

    I really enjoyed it - Until it crashed and crashed and crashed and after 30 hours and a # of crashes, I cannot recommend this and have returned it.

    If they had a save mode and it didn't crash I would give it 7/10 - it's not perfect and if you don't get the perfect run you should probably start again.

    While the game looks and plays fantastic the inability to save at certain points brings the game into a boring and repetitive cycle. Unless you have a three hour time slot which let’s face it not many people do these days you will find the game frustrating…

    The gameplay is decent enough, I guess, but my main problem ist that I just can't stand the protagonist. All I asked for was an interesting character, but we got a political statement instead.

    The gameplay loop is not fun enough for how frustrating the game ends up being. All of your runs come down to luck rather than skill, and the length it takes to get to each objective is far to long for the system, especially with the drip feed of story beats. I would not recommend this game to anyone especially in it’s still flawed and buggy state

    Where great roguelike games like Hades give you some control in how you will progress while you play, Returnal has nothing and prides in that by hiding behind the guise of being a hard game. But the difficulty of Returnal doesn't come from combat, which is not easy but far from hard. The difficulty comes from the randomness and lack of useful pickups.

    I think this game is a solid 7 but I decided to treat it like it treated me, so I went to random.org and selected randomly from 1-10 and that is the score I gave to this game.    … Expand

    Don't waste your money on this. Probably the most bland game there is, and I say that as a PlayStation fan. Just play Vanquish instead which is far far superior compared to this schlock. Oh and the protagonist is an ugly Karen so don't go looking for eye candy if you end up getting this game for some reason.

    Well, this is a great game, one of a kind, with a addictive gameplay. So it gets 1 out of 10.
    95% of players will never be able to finish - enjoy it.
    The developers just ruined it, by this stupid idea.
    Start all over again, if you loose??
    Let's be serious, The game is also very Difficult, for the average player, IMPOSSIBLE TO IMPROVE.

    But then, after a few days playing you realize that you have been scammed. The game would barely give you any healing capabilities and it will randomly throw useless artifacts and extremely tough enemies wave after wave,    Boy, where do I begin?!     Also, add a **** SAVE feature you **** This is the biggest **** I have ever seen in a "AAA" game. To artificially extend their game the moment you die you lose everything and you start from the beginning, what a bull.
    I just had a run where I spent hours collecting artifacts and beating all but the final boss for the Bio and the last room locked me in and threw at me wave after wave of the green spewing **** and the orange big guys, I counted 4 greens and three orange as well as flying eye and other things, at the same **** time!!!! I had extra life and everything, still died and all progress was lost.
    Give us the option to save our stuff!!!!! I want to be able to play other games while I am still making progress on my run. What an idiotic idea to not save anything... This game is a $70 scam. This should have been $30 at the most. And it should have still had a save feature... Terrible player experience. Never, ever buying anything from these devs again.    … Expand

    The game is the buggiest game I've ever played and on top of that it's boring as hell.
    Wtf are fans talking about when they recommend this game as one of the best on ps. I'd rather play Cyberpunk over this buggy mess. At least I'll be able to play without crashes.
