I really loved this game, it's actually the best RE game since 4 imo. The gameplay is excellent overall, the soundtrack puts you in a really suspense mood and the story is very resident evil with all their wackiness. A really fun game. My only complain is the AI for the enemies is not that great, enemies are from one zone only and if you change that zone they just turn around and leave you alone. A little weird to be honest. But the atmosphere of this game is great, the ties and easter eggs to other resident evil games and horror movies in general are really fun. Better than 7 but it sins of not being very original specially when compare with RE4. GOTY 2021 contender Expand

I've just finished the story and I can only say one thing. Must have game with amazing atmosphere, characters and story. Probably the first resident evil I'm gonna replay again. I loved Biohazard, but I think Village is a piece of art delivered to us by Capcom

Great work by Capcom and another companies who were working on that game. Incredible design and direction. Unforgettable vibe and plot. I love family theme in the core of the plot. I love the way which Resident Evil chose to go. This game taught me a lot in Level Design and Direction. Totally recommended.

This game is not perfect, but everything it does is really good. I think the simpler the story is in a RE game, the better it is. Is it scary ? Well, there is one moment that is sooo scary, i almost wondered if could play it, but overall, not that much. I understand why, the dev team wanted to do an experience that was closer to action than horror compared to RE 7. I don't think they failed in the scares department if their goals was to make this game a bit less scary. Am i disapointed by this ? A bit. I love a scary resident evil like 1 and 2 but i also don't think more action based RE are bad. So, I gave this game a 9 because i think it's a nice continuation of RE 7 and like I said, there is nothing objectively bad in this game. The rest will be about your own personal preferences. Expand

As some probably mentioned, the last part of the game is a bit like call of duty but doesn't really drag the overall fun down. I completed it in 15 hours or so and couldn't stop playing! Buy it!

I will continue to rent the resident evil games. It has aspects that I love. However, before I love the game enough to give it a higher score, the resource management and need to refer to a guide has got to go.

    First, the "bads".
People are complaining about 2 things mostly :
    - Lack of Zombies! (Indeed, I can confirm, this RE is on a different theme so far...)
    - Game is not scary (Well that's a different kind of scare so far, indeed, I don't feel like **** my pants in horror but I do feel the tension, my heart is pounding at times, not scared but pumped up!)

So all in all, yeah it feels sort of different from the classic RE games so far but I'm really having a blast!
I do share the toughts about the game feeling polished, been crafted with care for details.

I also read a lot about this being a sort of mix between RE4 and RE7, that's a pretty accurate perception.

Killing stuff so far seems "Just right".
Monsters (or whatever you wanna call them) takes the right ammount of damage before diying and they are smart enough to put up a challengeing fight without feeling unfair.

It's nice seeing a PS5 title being playable and mostly fluid with ray tracing ENABLED and looking great!

I only played about 2h so far playing it slow paced trying to see/find everything the game has to offer and enjoying it to the max!

Easy 9/10 so far and I'm not rating it 10 cause I'm keeping myself a margin of error but if it keeps up, I might correct it for a 10 by the end of my playthrough.

This game takes bits of every past resi evil game and combines them together. Here you have Ethan from RE7 returning to continue the story in Europe. The games setting appears to be close to the setting in RE4, where it plays out in the forest with castles and beasts etc.

The gameplay is fairly solid, you move faster than you did in RE7, and the inventory system is more forgiving.

There are levels where the game is scary, then there are more action packed levels towards the end. The game kind of loses its steam towards the end though.

    + Good gameplay
    + Good Graphics

    - Ethan's voice sounds like a member of a boy band, some of the lines sound real bad. When he tries to talk tough to the bosses it sounds hilarious, it just doesn't match the fact that Ethan still shakes in fear when an enemy is nearby, especially since going through military training and having the mold still exist inside him for healing properties.

    - There is a lack of good guy character interaction, throughout the game, you see Chris maybe 3 times, but don't really talk to anyone else, except the shop keeper or rival bosses.
-Some low barriers that are impassable.

Apart from these complaints, I think the game is a solid entry.

Later a few months I decided to play Re 8, I was not excited to play it. I like Re 8. It’s a good game, but it shouldn’t call Resident Evil it should have another name. The graphics are awesome. The story isn’t so good, but ok. I don’t like the some bosses, they are strange and so big it isn't Resident Evil in my opinion.

Game is great. Had no issues or bugs during all my 3-4 playthroughs on the PS5. Loading times are literally instant. I've only seen how the loadscreen looks like by watching people speedrunning it on PC.

I'm not giving it a 10 because of mercenaries and more specifically that in order to get the trophy you need to grind, and when you say grind that's not good. It would've been perfect if they made the trophy such that you need to finish every map once if they wanted you to go through everything.
Anyway since most of the players will likely just play the story mode most of the time, that part is excellent. I would've liked a more tense atmosphere to be honest, like the Baker house, but what we got is definitely not bad. Definitely recommend this game and I'm glad I've got it.

It's definitely a masterpiece. As I said, if you like Resi 4..you will love this one. The game has great epic moments and the atmosphere is fantastic. Every location is special. It gets never boring. I think this direction is avery good way. A new chapter. Capcom did more than a great job with this one. The game has very insane moments. but I will not spoil them. It's a solid game. Though you can really tell that they turned down the horror and scary elements in this game to appeal to a larger group of people. I don't play many horror games ( cause honestly I scare easily in games, but i like it! ) but in re8 i was rarely as scared as I thought I would be. Even so some parts were pretty scary and overall it is a great game to play.

I love the RE Franchise but sometimes I found that the games were lacking for my personal liking. With RE:Village I wanted to dig back in at it and give it a try. Overall this game is to me a 8.5 moving up to the 9 because of personal tendency.

I ve been playing the game on my PS5 with no issues so far. I didnt feel any fps drops (playing with RT off). The games looks beautiful although some textures lack a bit of detail. Generally the engine provides a very atmospheric result in both outdoor and indoor parts for action and horror bothways which is quite impressing. Starting with RE2:Remake the sound design improved drastically and I feel this continued with RE:Village. If you can use headphones or a decent surround system this game is absolutely amazing with the depths it can provide.

The game mechanics itself are well known. I feel the inventory and save system went for the better. Overall the weapon and upgrade system seem fair and provide good content over time. I find the game lacks a bit when it comes to boss fights. They feel very innovative yet they are very dull and bullet spongey. There is not much skill applied most of the time and feels a bit grindy. Yet the boss designs are fantastic with great variety which I honestly enjoyed a lot although it might feel a bit drifting away from the RE main core.

With all difficulties, weapons, mercenary mode and challenge the game provides at least 8-12 hours of straight story gameplay and probably around 20 to 35hrs for completionist which justifies the launch price for fans otherwise I suggest to wait for a discount of 10-20% for a better deal. I definitely do recommend the game it feels very different if you actually play it instead of watching videos or streamers. It is really enjoyable and for a surprising touch the story isnt too bad either.

Just one more good game in RE Universe. If you played RE2/RE3 remake or RE7 you know what it's all about - there are no big changes. Two minor but important changes: more humor and more action. As for me I'd better give more time for Dimitrescu castle as it's probably the best part of the game but diversity is good as well.

Similarly to Resident Evil 4 back in the day, Village will attract a new generation of players and redefine the franchise for the modern age. I guess it’s time to stop looking back and counting on the series to return to its roots. Capcom is well aware of those roots and willingly draws from them to create something new but still infused with Resident Evil’s spirit. Village is not perfect, but neither was RE4, and once again it’s easy to turn a blind eye to the flaws, because overall it’s an amazing game. [07/2021, p.56]

Resident Evil Village feels like such a culmination. Bringing together elements from the franchise all the way up to now and crafting what looks to be the next step of survival horror, it embraces every aspect of the franchise. While the insidious dread of Resident Evil VII is missing, there are still plenty of scares. The monster designs are fantastic, from the generations undead, the fury of the Lupine beasts, to the towering monstrosities. It's well worth delving into the concept art and 3D models to enjoy them fully. The story is just the right amount of silly with the terrifying, and the odd dash of the surreal. The combat is smooth and fluid, best evidenced in the addictive Mercenaries mode. All of these elements added together make quite possibly the best Resident Evil to date, and a foundation for a fresh new generation of terror.

RE: Village is a mixture of almost all previous Resident Evil elements, making the most of both survival horror and puzzle intensity, but with the primary stage being left for the more action-like nature of Resident Evil 4. It has some great story moments, sprinkled with a few lacklustre characters that are still overshadowed by its most notable characteristic – most detailed environment to date.
