    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really cannot remember one thing that was bad in this game. This and RE7 are masterpieces, they are both equally good on its own way. Before i started my playtrough, i read from a lot of people that it is more action game than horror. But i wouldn't agree. The game has some REALLY scary moments. All the villains,enemies and sub bosses are perfect. Heisenberg voice actor did a great job, i must mention that. Also, the enemies from his area are creepy, especially Sturm Soldat. House Beneviento had the creepiest atmosphere in the game. But, oh my God, the deatils in this game. I am from Serbia, so our villages (Eastern Europe) are tottaly same like in the game. I really felt like it is some old village in my country. It is so detailed, every brick, every tree, every muddy road. After i finished the game, i closely watched concept art images a 3d figures of the characters, and that i realised indeed how it was detailed. I see that a lot of work and love was put into this game by the developers, so i appreciate that, i can't give nothing bellow a 10.… Expand

    I wanted to give 9 becouse the last location of haizenberg destroyed for me the whole atmosphere of this village but some nice leady and her jucy big benefits made my decision to give it 10 (joke). Game is really amazing especialy if you play it in vr2 like i did for the first time. So many jumpy moments makes me change my pants few times during the first run. Everysingle trophy is makingI wanted to give 9 becouse the last location of haizenberg destroyed for me the whole atmosphere of this village but some nice leady and her jucy big benefits made my decision to give it 10 (joke).     Before playing, I read a few reviews that complained about the game not being scary, or not being a true Resident Evil game. I almost gave up playing the game. Glad I didn't. This is a great game and I had a really satisfying experience playing it.
    The game is not as scary as RE7 but it does have its scary sections.     It's a very intresting RE game! Really! I was skeptical about this title at first. Werewolves, some supernatural powers... I told myself this is not RE! But still, as a fan of the series, I had to play it and I was very surprised how quickly I started to like this game! The story really got me into the game pretty quickly. Item management system, weapon leveling, puzzles, and the combat itself though in first person view (now in 3rd person thanks to the DLC). Like the good old REs from the first PlayStation. Also all the locations were created wonderfully! What a game! Capcom did a good job with it. It's already one of my favourite video game!… Expand

Not many major complaints for the game as it is exactly the kind of game i quite enjoy.     The first game in the series that I played. High-quality game - development, unlike Ubisoft. The rating is high also because of Shadows of Rose, which is very good. But, there are stupidities too, not plausible barriers through which one cannot pass. And the character is even slower than an ordinary old man in reality and cannot even dodge, only block and even then takes damage.

    But I liked the game - original, realistic, high quality good optimization - no "Ubisoft" (Bugsoft) - bugs, crooked textures even on the main characters, empty senseless running around, etc.
    But the 7th and 4th are, at least. very similar and no longer willing to go through the same thing with other characters.
    And I love the maximum difficulty, but guys, it shouldn't be based on replay to pass, and so many time to spend, replay so many times to find out where to hide and how long you have to sit there.... don't be meticulous! I'd enjoy it more, a lot more if I didn't have to count ammo. And you need to make the character normal, as in reality, but you did, the developers of this game, he is like an old man and can't do anything.
    There are also puzzles, which is good.

    Please don't mix the sexual genre with games, especially when it's not exactly 'the 18+' and the game's story is not about that, but yes there are things inherent in this genre, such as Detorit: become human and Soulstice. Horror should not be associated with this genre... And many people like to play horror games (and thriller) In addition, in this game there are hints of dirty, not beauty.

    Absolute masterpiece! The second 1st Person in the series done flawlessly. There is nothing more I can ask for except maybe more Lady Dimitrescu. My Favourite in the franchise.

    I’m only playing re8 for the first time now, but on psvr2. I respect the mixed reviews for re8 and7. And I respect the different direction capcom have taken with these 2 games. These games were not designed with vr in mind, but we’re designed completely for vr. This game is a true masterpiece in vr2. I am completely blown away, I’m going back to play re7 on vr2. These 2 games haveI’m only playing re8 for the first time now, but on psvr2. I respect the mixed reviews for re8 and7. And I respect the different direction capcom have taken with these 2 games.     I will not talk about horror vs action as I don’t consider the genre and view each product in its own isolated capsule. This game was alright for me, I enjoyed it but nothing really special or even impressive. There is no variety in gameplay, not enough mechanics to work with. Just bland and baseline gameplay.     Excellent game. This game continues the story of resident evil 7 and finishes it in a interesting way. It doesn't have the same vibe as the previous game. Resident evil 7 was more scary while Village was more like an adventure. I suggest you give this game a try!

    I dare say that this is one of the best RE's made for the new generation (including the remakes) because it manages to improve movement and some things that left to be desired in RE 7. The pace, immersion and references make it a great game.     Truly a great game. The story is really good and the gameplay is my favorite from those games I've played in the series. There is a big map to explore with many hidden things to discover and the combat is really smooth. However, it's slightly less interesting in the second part by my opinion but the first one is fantastic. Highly recommend this game.

    Great work by Capcom and another companies who were working on that game. Incredible design and direction. Unforgettable vibe and plot. I love family theme in the core of the plot. I love the way which Resident Evil chose to go. This game taught me a lot in Level Design and Direction. Totally recommended.

    p.s. I have only some concerns to factory part of the game from the Level Design    Great work by Capcom and another companies who were working on that game. Incredible design and direction.     I only ever played it in VR and I expected to dislike it due to it being a port. It's definitely not a VR-first game, which you can tell. But I overall really enjoyed it and give it two thumbs up for some really nice interactions, graphics, horror elements and gameplay. Parts of the game were too much horror to really enjoy it, but very well done. Here are a few things    VR Version

    I only ever played it in VR and I expected to dislike it due to it being a port. It's definitely not a VR-first game, which you can tell. But I overall really enjoyed it and give it two thumbs up for some really nice interactions, graphics, horror elements and gameplay. Parts of the game were too much horror to really enjoy it, but very well done.

    Here are a few things that could be better:
    - I often missed events during cut-scenes, since I was looking somewhere else and didn't know where to look. I don't see an easy fix for that, since it's obviously made for flatscreens and not a problem there. Probably a necessary evil
    - The demo should be free (not cost 0.25, why?)
    - If I grab a "special object" such as a letter, when I let go I drop everything I was holding on to (flashlight, gun, ...) which was annoying
    - I don't like having to drop guns and see them reappear in their slot. Even if it's just for the added immersion, I'd love to put them back manually, or at least have them move back to their slot as soon as you let go. Not a big deal, but I think it makes a big difference in VR
    - I was missing some haptic feedback when breaking something with the gun in hand
    - I would've loved to grab objects by hand to examine them, but it isn't a big part of the game and probably not worth the effort. Still would've loved it.

    I really enjoyed the gun mechanics (haptic feedback, adaptive trigger, headset vibration, reloading, ...) and loved the coat mechanic. Really clever idea. I was also happy to see an option to use "touch" to grab objects, I was afraid I'd have to squeeze that trigger really hard all the time.    … Expand

    Grafik: Die RE Engine zeigt mal wie's was sie kann und das ist einfach nur Herrlich anzusehen.
    Game Design: Die Level Architektur ist Resident Evil Typisch mal wieder einfach nur gut auch wenn insgesamt etwas schwächer als zb. im RE2 Remake.
    Es gibt das gewohnte Backtracking und genug zu entdecken Abseits der Main-Quest Hauptwege.
    Gegen Ende Eskaliert die Action immer mehr.

    Was negative auffält ist das eher mäßige treffer Feedback was in den Remakes wesentlich besser ist.

    Der Sprung vom RE7 auf RE8 kommt mir ähnlich vor wie der von der Alten PSone Trilogie und Code Veronica auf RE4 was die Gewichtung von Action und Survival Horror angeht.

    Leider sind die Antagonisten im ihrer Persönlichkeit nicht so Präsent wie ich mir das gewünscht hätte. Insgesamt bleiben sie eher flach und nutzen ihr Potenzial was definitiv da ist nicht ganz aus.

    Die Story erklärt mag ich sehr gerne. Sie bleibt Resident Evil Typisch eher Flach aber erklärt die Geschehnisse aus Resident Evil 7 und gibt Interessante Einblicke im die Entstehungsgeschichte von Umbrella. Das Ende hat einen Riesigen Cliffhanger und lässt hoffen oder fürchten das RE9 ein Action geladenes Spektakel werden könnte in dem Chris Redfield eine Zentrale Rolle Spielt möglicherweise mit Gegner die Waffen benutzen wie damals in RE5 und RE6.

    Insgesamt ein Spaßiges wenn auch zu kurzes Resident Evil Abenteuer.    … Expand

    After the excellent seventh part, you hope to see no less quality of the plot and gameplay. So Capcom did it. They surpassed themselves, this part is filled with plot twists, references, it is quite important for the franchise. The DLC gave a lot of plot and reflection. That was a great experience. Thank you Capcom!

Being a Die Hard Resident Evil fan and playing all of the Mainline and Spinoff Resident Evil games, I was hoping that Resident Evil Village will meet my expectations to be the greatest Resident Evil game, and it exceeded my expectations and became one of my all time favorite game next to the Iconic Resident EvilResident Evil Village is one of the best Resident Evil Games I've ever played. Being a Die Hard Resident Evil fan and playing all of the Mainline and Spinoff Resident Evil games, I was hoping that Resident Evil Village will meet my expectations to be the greatest Resident Evil game, and it exceeded my expectations and became one of my all time favorite game next to the Iconic Resident Evil 2 Remake. Exceptional Gameplay and Combat, Mommy Milkers, Insane Graphics, Fantastic Story, Iconic boss fights, a wide selection of weapons, Implementing all of the mechanics from Resident Evil 4, Memorable Characters, Top Notch Environments and Maps and a memorable ending that will last for a lifetime. Overall, Resident Evil Village is an Absolute Masterpiece. If you haven't played this game yet, I highly recommend you to Buy and Play this masterpiece right now. The VR mode is something out of this world. It requires a complete new rating scale to cover such a greatness of gaming experience.     I beat it in 10 hours on the casual difficulty, and had fun the whole time. I was still pressured to perform in combat, and there are many moments in the early game when you are frantically trying to reload your gun as an enemy is bearing down on you. Later, with experience, some massive enemy pops out and you, the now seasoned vet, pull open your coat, pull out an explosive device, throw it, grab the sniper rifle from your back, fire once, cock in a new shell, fire again- all fluidly, practiced, and business-like as if you are a professional monster-slayer. So, you develop into a combat god yourself as the game goes along.

    100% worth the money and time. This is not just a game, it's a literal adventure to enjoy.    … Expand

    Classic Resident Evil experience. The story got way more intense and interesting with this one. Overall a great improvement to already superb Resident Evil 7. Now looking forward to the final part of the trilogy.

Passado alguns anos após o incidente, Ethan está com Mia e sua filha Rose, tentando seguir a vida e superar os traumas do passado. No começo do jogo, Chris Redfield invade sua casa matando Mia e levando Rose e Ethan. Após um incidente no transporte dos dois, Ethan acorda e não sabe onde está sua filha. Daí começa sua jornada em um vilarejo hostil, com diversas criaturas folclóricas como lobisomens, vampiros e bruxas... No decorrer da história, fica claro que tais criaturas eram seres humanos que foram expostos ao Cadou, parasita geneticamente modificado que foi exposto ao Mofo. A vila possui uma espécie de anciã/profetisa, conhecida como Mãe Miranda e esta possui quatro Lordes, Alcina Dimitrescu, Donna Benneviento, Salvatore Moreau e Karl Heisenberg. O jogo tem ambientes abertos e fechados, trazendo um realismo casuístico à experiência, já que Ethan já tem as experiências passadas e não é tão indefeso como no jogo anterior. No modo padrão, não é um jogo difícil, então recomendo o modo Intenso para aqueles que já estão habituados com a saga. Nesse modo, a experiência se torna bastante desafiadora. Os gráficos estão excelentes, a jogabilidade é incrível e possui uma boa diversidade de armas, o que pode tornar a gameplay interessante. Para os amantes de Resident Evil 4, o Village possui muitas referências e o intuito da Capcom era justamente trazer a nostalgia desse clássico e preparar o público para o Remake que será lançado em 2023. Não acho que o jogo possui muita ação, pois em diversos momentos há partes de sobrevivência e terror, principalmente na casa Benneviento, que por sinal é o ponto mais alto do jogo. Tem uma quantidade boa de puzzles e de colecionáveis. Destaque para a atuação da atriz que deu vida para a personagem Alcina Dimitrescu, que a tornou um ícone da série.     Just one more good game in RE Universe. If you played RE2/RE3 remake or RE7 you know what it's all about - there are no big changes. Two minor but important changes: more humor and more action. As for me I'd better give more time for Dimitrescu castle as it's probably the best part of the game but diversity is good as well.

Now the Horror element is great in most parts of the game, but for the most part it was lackluster unlike the game before this RE7. You almost never feel stalked the only time I felt that was when I giant baby was chasing me in the dark other then that there is no real horror in this game. I hope in the next instalment of this story improves that but we will have to wait and see.… Expand

    Honestly while this game adds so much to the story of Ethan Winters and Chris Redfield, I think it drops in gameplay wise. This game is a pure love letter to resi 4 however the game focuses on combat too much at times and less about horror which is really the best part of the games i.e. the baby section.     I hear bad things about this game, but when I played, I had more then just fun. I had it preordered and was playing the beta when it hit me. “This game is fantastic”. Zero buyers remorse, instead I can’t wait to buy DLC.

    La historia es muy buena, en contenido me a parecido un poco corto, pero mucho mejor que el 3 y el 2 remake, muchas armas, buenos momentos de tensión, sólo casi al final que con cierto jefe sentí que jugaba el 6. Le añadiría un poco de velocidad a Ethan sin romper elemento Survival; otra cosa es que es muy rejugable, eso probablemente para algunos justifique el precio.

    Solides Spiel mit einer tollen Optik im Spiel (Zwischensequenzen sehen irgendwie billig aus). Der Umfang passt auch, sowie das Gameplay was RE-Kenner ja durchaus mögen.
    Gab einige Sequenzen die ich etwas lächerlich fand, trotzdem ist dieses Spiel ein Must Have.

    I bought it on sale and only played the 3rd person perspective. Worth the price? It’s definitely worth the 40 dollars I paid for it. I beat this game 3+ times and truly love the atmosphere, movement, gunplay, enemy variation, sounds, and story. It reminds me of a successor to re4 but with the updated graphics and movement of re2&3 remake. Gameplay: Addicting and linear. A lot ofI bought it on sale and only played the 3rd person perspective. Worth the price? It’s definitely worth the 40 dollars I paid for it. I beat this game 3+ times and truly love the atmosphere, movement, gunplay, enemy variation, sounds, and story. It reminds me of a successor to re4 but with the updated graphics and movement of re2&3 remake. Gameplay: Addicting and linear. A lot of backtracking if you want to 100 percent it but for me it didn’t feel forced or convoluted. In my opinion the gameplay is right in the sweet spot between action and survival horror.

    Soundtrack: I didn’t really notice it too much. Not bad but didn’t stand out. Audio: The sounds are well designed and detailed. A lot of work went into the guns, enemies, and actions that you do constantly throughout the game.

    Visuals: The RE Engine on the ps5 is impressive. I didn’t notice any pop in or slow down but I’m also not looking for imperfections. The resolution and graphics seem great to me and there was only one time during the final boss that I noticed the pre-rendered cutscene differentiate between the gameplay that broke the immersion. Story: It is so unique and twisted where I did not see it going. It’s had me hooked. I could see how some would find it campy or too much. But it is a resident evil game. The game respects my time and that is important these days. I can pick up and play for small sessions or long. I can set save points strategically to try bosses over and over to get short times to complete challenges. I can set save points to play parts over to kill a ton of enemies with specific weapons to unlock more stuff. The game is a resident evil game through and through.    … Expand

    Resident Evil Village is excellent during the beginning and middle but then becomes mediocre towards the end. The concept of the village and fleeing to survive was thrilling and I enjoyed the castle chapter however the game lost its spark from the factory onwards. It was a great idea to work in crafting, but it didn’t feel satisfying. Overall a good game.

    I just love the new RE concept introduced in RE7 - and this one just takes it to another level. It is better than RE7 in almost every aspect. It is not as scary as the previous one (it has only one freaky episode with the doll master boss) but much more action-oriented, which is super cool — no need to count every bullet now, you can simply fight your way through the lycans.     Beginning & first area 10/10, second area 9/10, rest of the game 8/10. Yeah they probably did a few extra steps for the big tiddie vampire dominatrix lady, but its a very solid game nonetheless. Very recommended and 4K 60fps with raytracing on PS5 is nice as well.

Es waren ein paar gute Schreckmoment dabei (hätten gern mehr sein können) und die Spielzeit von knapp 9h hat mir auch zugesagt. Bin ich ja nicht so ein Fan von gestreckten Spielen und erfreue mich gern mal über lineare Titel. Teilweise war die Welt etwas unübersichtlich und ich bin wirr umhergelaufen. Hat aber aufNach Teil 7 Biohazard konnte mich auch Village wieder vollends überzeugen. I've played games that are scarier(SH1), had better stories(SOMA), but I've never played one that had such an excellent grasp of the genre's gameplay.

    Resdient Evil: The Village's combat is thrilling and difficult. Resources are scarce, and enemy encounters are varied and interesting. There is a great and expansive system of buying and upgrading weapons. Although not terrifying, there are parts of the game that are quite creepy, cycling through the many types of horror gaming from classic Resident Evil in a mansion, to Layers of Fear, to the claustrophobic industrial setting. There are many nods to previous RE games, almost like a greatest hits version of the series. There's something very similar to RE4's controller-throwing opening combat sequence where you're swarmed by endless enemies. Once you get past that opening hurdle, the game becomes much more free-from in something like the hub-based open world you see in many immersive action games, with light RPG elements. The level design is excellent, reminiscent of Dark Souls, and rewards exploration, as you uncover hidden new areas.

    What kicks it up to a 10 is hard to explain. The game is just cool. Its stylish and bleak visuals, the fantastic graphics, and great character design of your adversaries blend together perfectly. There is also a subversive undercurrent of dark humor that I loved in the writing and dialog.

    Resident Evil Village takes whats great about RE4 and repackages it into a current gen experience. A few players will be turned off with the almost RE3 feel of the introductory chapter, but after continuing with the story they will meet balanced game play featuring horror, action, RPG-elements and more.

    Sure, alot of new players to the franchise will not feel as at home as I were, but Im a firm believer the absolute majority of players will find this game to be one to remember. By all means not perfect, but a bloody good time - pun intended.    … Expand

    i really enjoined playing resident evil village this is the greatest resident evil game today. besides this game remind me a lot to resident evil 4. in my opinion I liked the characters, the environment, the gameplay and the story. definitely this game deserves my respect and the respect of everyone.

    i have already beat the game four time and its my first resident evil game and i love it the boss fights were actually hard when i played the game on hardcore and village of shadow the graphics were amazing and the bonus content was very entertaining and the most memorable part of the game was castle dimitrescu so the summary is capcom did a very good job so buy this game

    Capcom did an excellent work with this game! Creppy village, amazing characters, visuals, sounds. Freaky stories leaking out of the screen, depressing notes, and the story overall kept me playing this game over and over again. I finished it 3 times with different difficulties.
    The great news is that we will get 3rd person view with the new patch!

    Still it is a standard mysterious Resident Evil story where everything is explained in the end but this time it has some emotions.
    I would be happier if the story unfolded gradually but still it is my most favorite story in the series.
    Ethan Winters gets more personality and bigger and more interesting role here.

    The legendary Chris Redfield is amazing, same for Karl Heisenberg and Lady Dimitrescu.
    There are some really interesting ideas for puzzles that I really liked.
    I like that merchant is back where you can buy supplies and guns or upgrade guns and treasures are back. The village is beautiful, soundtrack is great and boss fights are amazing and epic.
    The environment is stunning there are many different impressive and well-designed buildings such Dimitrescu castle, the factory or the village itself.
    The loading screens are barely visible in this game and the dualsense is also used well for first-person shooter.

    Regular enemies are more interesting than the mold guys in RE 7 and I would say everything was done better here than in RE 7 except one thing and that is my biggest problem with the game.
    It ain't too scary. One section in the game when you are defenseless and you are hiding from something was amazing but overall it is more about action.
    It is about preferences so if you do not mind it or even you like more action you will not obviously see it as a mistake.

    I would find one more thing that I did not like and that is the game is quite short for me.
    It is standard to rest games in series but I personally want more than 8 hours for the first playthrough.
    But after 25 years it still holds up for me best game in the series and one of the best at this time with highest quality at every point.
    Great game with great story, graphic, gameplay, soundtrack, characters. I would recommend to fans of series and fans of this genre. I can't wait for next part in this legendary franchise.    … Expand

    Oh, how I wanna go back to Castle Dimitrescu to play hide and seek. Alcina Dimitrescu is, without a doubt, one of the best video game characters ever created. My favorite drag queen. It is a gradual downfall after her chapter, unfortunately.

    A temática do jogo é sensaciona! Nunca imaginei que Resident Evil chegaria nisso um dia! A parte do castelo é extraordinária! As personagens que te perseguem são todas extremamente bem feitas e te deixam super tenso toda vez que aparecem! Um belo exemplo de como um survival horror deve ser, parabéns!!!

    Similarly to Resident Evil 4 back in the day, Village will attract a new generation of players and redefine the franchise for the modern age. I guess it’s time to stop looking back and counting on the series to return to its roots. Capcom is well aware of those roots and willingly draws from them to create something new but still infused with Resident Evil’s spirit. Village is not perfect, but neither was RE4, and once again it’s easy to turn a blind eye to the flaws, because overall it’s an amazing game. [07/2021, p.56]

    Resident Evil Village feels like such a culmination. Bringing together elements from the franchise all the way up to now and crafting what looks to be the next step of survival horror, it embraces every aspect of the franchise. While the insidious dread of Resident Evil VII is missing, there are still plenty of scares. The monster designs are fantastic, from the generations undead, the fury of the Lupine beasts, to the towering monstrosities. It's well worth delving into the concept art and 3D models to enjoy them fully. The story is just the right amount of silly with the terrifying, and the odd dash of the surreal. The combat is smooth and fluid, best evidenced in the addictive Mercenaries mode. All of these elements added together make quite possibly the best Resident Evil to date, and a foundation for a fresh new generation of terror.

    RE: Village is a mixture of almost all previous Resident Evil elements, making the most of both survival horror and puzzle intensity, but with the primary stage being left for the more action-like nature of Resident Evil 4. It has some great story moments, sprinkled with a few lacklustre characters that are still overshadowed by its most notable characteristic – most detailed environment to date.
