Rennsport is a pro-focused racer that shows promise but falls short of Gran Turismo’s heights, remaining enjoyable yet held back by notable caveats.

There is a good game somewhere here in RENNSPORT, but there is far too much that needs work to redeem it at this point in time.

There's a solid racing sim experience at the heart of Rennsport, but at the moment it fails to truly impress as a package due to a lack of content and a rather sterile single-player campaign.

Unfortunately, Rennsport feels like a beta sold at full price. On PC, at least, there’s a free-to-play base version, but on consoles there’s no demo—you can only buy the Standard or Deluxe editions. The graphics are underwhelming, the AI often falls short, the content is limited, and the interface can be confusing. These issues weigh down a game whose main appeal lies in an interesting driving model—though some cars behave inconsistently—with physics that are generally believable and satisfying, aside from occasional collisions with opponents. There are bugs here and there, and the multiplayer experience isn’t always reliable. While there are some good elements, they get lost in the overall lackluster execution, especially when compared to the competition. In short, the balance between quality, content, and price leaves Rennsport struggling to impress.

The RENNSPORT format could yield a good game in the future if further developed, as it currently appears to be in beta or early access. Proper attention to its content and some visual, sound, and AI improvements could make it a more appealing product for virtual racing fans.

he sim racing genre is not only fiercely competitive but also quite niche. As such, RENNSPORT’s release is somewhat perplexing, as it clearly lacks content, with an alarmingly small selection of cars and tracks, while its physics also leave a lot to be desired.

It remains to be seen whether Rennsport can find its place among the other eSports racers. But as a console motorsport experience, it can’t compete.

A credible foundation, but lacking magic. Rennsport comes across as a practical exercise rather than a passion. A game that exudes precision, but not speed.

Rennsport doesn't leave a positive impression at all by overcharging players for a flimsy racing game package that's clearly unfinished. Yes, the car handling is nuanced, the featured track selection is nice, and while the car selections come up short, they are hulking and sound as impressive as they look; however, Rennsport falls very short in just about every way and will not hold racing game aficionados' attention for very long until they drop off and find a better and fairer alternative to spend their time with.

RENNSPORT has no business being a full-price game on consoles for what's offered. The post-launch DLC will cost extra as well. Excellent driving physics with the ability to race on well-known circuits with nineteen touring or grand touring cars from recent years is the core of this game. Online racing with a community also helps as it pools together three platforms to assure lobbies have players. Unfortunately noone is using the matchmaking and the offline options are barely an option. No tutorials, no content and no substance really take away from the fact that this is a video game and more of the game you go to a racing arcade to play its simulation (which this author has done). The DualSense 5, in particular, works both surprisingly and exceptionally well, but do you get a simulation racer to use with a controller? Also, with another racing sim offering more content on the horizon for the same price, you're better off waiting for a steep sale on this.
