Mar 20, 2026Project Songbird is truly special. While it doesn't push the envelope forward gameplay-wise, it pushes your emotions into overdrive. Anyone who has ever experienced depression, anxiety, imposter syndrome, or questioned their life decisions will find something here. And if you're like me, who experiences these emotions daily, along with some tragedy, you will be completely seen and heard with this game. Project Songbird is truly healing, and I appreciate every moment I have had with it.

Mar 23, 2026Project Songbird is a personal reflection of the difficulties of continuing to create art that fans with love at the expense of artistic integrity in the guise of a narrative horror, and it's great.
-
Mar 30, 2026Project: Songbird is a survival horror game that prioritizes introspection over cheap scares. Its narrative, visual style, and atmosphere set it apart, though its controls and puzzles can be frustrating. It doesn’t reinvent the genre, but it does offer a unique, intense, and deeply personal experience within the current horror landscape.
-
Mar 23, 2026It’s beautifully told and has a lovely medium pacing to it, rarely too frantic and mostly set just right to give you thinking time about the big themes at play. For £15 this is well worth a look if you’re keen on an emotional rollercoaster, rather than an all-out blockbuster action by-the-second one.
-
Mar 20, 2026It has some minor issues that might frustrate some, as well as some elements that feel a little underbaked, but Project Songbird is an engaging narrative-driven survival horror experience on the whole. If you like the idea of Firewatch crossed with Silent Hill, you should give it a try.
-
Mar 19, 2026While it's flawed and limited, Project Songbird is also a personal, distinctive, and engaging horror game that bends familiar ideas to its tune.
-
Mar 19, 2026In fully committing to its themes of artistic inspiration, trauma and self-doubt, Project Songbird shows a willingness to be emotionally raw and vulnerable, creating a real space for reflection and empathy. The psychological horror elements have a depth that slowly expands over the game's runtime, outshining its relatively straightforward combat and occasional technical problems. A nightmare is always distressing, but maybe there's beauty nestled within the pain.
-
Mar 19, 2026Project Songbird soars onto the horror scene as one of the scariest indie games in recent memory. It’s also an incredibly moving title, aided by a heartfelt story and cozy compositions. Its various feathers of combat, puzzles, and traversal mechanics sometimes get ruffled, but they fly high in ambition for such a small game.
-
Mar 20, 2026Project Songbird is a psychological horror experience that blends exploration with tense dreamlike encounters in the Appalachian wilderness. As a struggling musician retreats to a remote cabin to rediscover their creativity, strange visions and hostile manifestations begin to blur the line between reality and memory. While a few experimental storytelling choices and pacing issues hold it back at times, the strong atmosphere, voice acting, and unique setting make it a memorable entry in narrative driven horror.
-
Mar 29, 2026Project Songbird delivers a profound, intimate narrative that masterfully explores trauma through atmospheric horror. Its evocative art direction and powerful message resonate deeply, although the experience suffers from clunky combat and broken stealth mechanics. Despite these technical frustrations and cumbersome inventory management, the emotional journey remains a compelling, hauntingly beautiful achievement in indie storytelling.
-
Mar 19, 2026Project Songbird starts off feeling like it could be a new entry in Life is Strange, but quickly takes a much darker turn, evolving into a focused and unsettling psychological horror experience. Over the course of its roughly 5–7 hour runtime, it delivers a journey that leans heavily on atmosphere, introspection, and a constant sense of unease...Fans of psychological horror will appreciate both the subtle and more direct nods to genre staples, while the game’s more personal themes help it carve out an identity of its own. It’s not without its rough edges, but Project Songbird still stands as an impressive achievement from Fyre Games… and a strong reminder of what a solo developer can deliver.
-
Mar 19, 2026Project Songbird is a haunting journey through the dark and twisted mind of its protagonist. Each act offers fresh ideas, creating a wonderfully paced adventure brimming with creativity and innovation. The art direction, sound, and impeccable voice acting elevate the experience, helping Dakota’s tale resonate. Although the combat and stealth segments lack the intensity that enshrouds other aspects, adding frustration rather than fear, this thrilling psychological exploration remains a memorable and imaginative horror experience.
-
Mar 19, 2026Project Songbird isn’t a perfect experience, nor is it terribly scary, but it does enough right to merit a playthrough.
-
Mar 26, 2026Project Songbird is a title that collapses under the weight of its own ambitions. While it bravely tackles mature themes like creative block and depression, the narrative is ultimately derailed by intrusive authorial narcissism. The gameplay fares no better, suffering from a disjointed mix of superfluous combat, poorly executed stealth mechanics, and frustrating inventory bugs. Despite an excellent soundtrack and stellar voice acting that perfectly capture the protagonist's musical soul, these technical merits aren't enough to save an overall derivative experience. It is a bitter disappointment for a game with such sadly wasted potential.
