Great game but the graphics are quite a disappointment. Also customizing your golfer options are not plentiful at all. It's 2023. The game is golf. Focus on everything involved here 2k and 2024 could be the best golf game ever!

I got this on sale for $20. Still not worth it. I actually found it funny how bad it was(wouldn’t have if I paid full price). Not only did it go backwards, it went 2 systems backwards. This is ps3 level graphics. I have 2k21 and that’s a good game. Figured on the sale price it’d be similar just with new players, and why not get it at the sale price. Only reason I can assume people haven’t given it a 0 out of 10 is that they haven’t played a golf game in a really long time. I’ve never put a review on here but felt I had to after this lol. Expand

VERY sad to charge money for a stripped down copy of 2k21 with just 1 feature added.

The graphics looks nearly identical to the last game, and the greedy developers had the audacity to increase the price to $70. 2K Games has way more money than Maximum Games. There is no excuse for the same graphics. Although I will say it was kinda worth it just to get Tiger Woods in this game. The addition of TopGolf is a stroke of genius, and you can even play the mode online. Online multiplayer is good. The reward system is well thought out. There are a variation of options and modes to choose from. Course designer has so much depth. $70 is a bit too much. I recommend you get it until it is like $30-$40.

PGA Tour 2K23 is a great improvement to the previous game and a big return to one of the best golfers in the game that is Tiger Woods.

Awesome game. Only flaws are the graphics should be better and also the fact that the consumable balls can change the green speed. At least be able to lock balls out of the competitive societies. It also sucks that there is no leaderboard or a ranking system for online play. I would be happy with a leaderboard that resets every season. Or something along those lines... it would be a 10 ifAwesome game. Only flaws are the graphics should be better and also the fact that the consumable balls can change the green speed. It’s the best golf game on the market by virtue of being the only real golf game on the market. The gameplay is very good; almost too good as it has you just a frustrated at time as in real life!

    Complete garbage is an understatement.

You have ruined this game and it starts with the basic swing timing controls. It went on sale for 35 dollars, and that was a rip off. I can’t understand how this “update” got through QA of any kind without the conclusion being, “well these idiots will buy anything…”

Thank you for murdering a great game.

Excellent sim with awful last gen graphics. Absolutely love the 3 click system in performance mode. Otherwise this system doesn’t perform well in quality mode.

Game is hot garbage. Loading screens take forever, graphics look worse than 2k22, there are LESS courses, and the new swing system is abysmal. The timing on the downswing feels absolutely horrible. Way to ruin another great sports series 2k.

Solid game. Plenty of objectives to keep you interested and playing, from boosting your stats by choosing club fittings to play how you want - conservatively with an easier more forgiving swing , or go for distance with a less forging swing. There's a skill tree to upgrade what you want , and player architype to choose between being a short club game or driver game, up to you. Then there'sSolid game. Glad I got this one for free on PS5 as it is not different enough from previous versions which I paid $$ for.

THE BAD - It still remains "Quitters Golf" after several versions. You go into an online match and if your opponent has a poor shot or begins to lose they quit the game - no penalty, no quit percentage. Loading times are abysmal - slowest loading and switching between screens of any game I own.

THESE DEVS ARE LAZY AND GREEDY

I'm not even trying to be funny here- Hot Shots Golf, a ps1 game from 1997, is a better game that is way more fun to play. You can tell right away that the devs put no thought into this; the game feels lifeless. You can't even create your own character! I wanted to try out a new golf game cause I was getting nostalgiac about playing Hot Shots back in the early 2000's... well this game feels and looks old. The controls are so counter-intuitive that I ended up accidentally switching out my putter when I was on the green without even knowing, and smashing the ball 100 yards away, which ruined my first tournament of 'my career', and there's no restart or mulligans or anything, I have to continue from that terrible shot.

People spend a lot of time arguing over games, but like with any art form or entertainment, genre and tech aspects and such aren't as important as the simple question of whether the game pulls you in and is fun to play. This is not. It is frustrating for all the wrong reasons. There is nothing added here to make the player excited, unless you love having ads pop up constantly trying to get you to purchase hats and shirts and crap. Just pathetic. Even the people giving this an 8 or 9 all say "...but the graphics really do suck".

Thankfully I didn't pay a dime for this garbage, as it's free on ps+ right now.

Decent enough, but basically the same as 2k21. Worth a few rounds once you get used to the timing of the swing, which you can make easier but I think this takes the fun out of it. Graphics on PS4 are same as 2k21 on PS4. Some of the commentary is also re-used. Some unusual glitches. But overall, a decent golf sim if you like that stuff.

Triple A price tag for $20 worth of content. Gameplay mechanica are great. Player and equipment customization is very lacking. Sponsors system is broken and needs reworked.

    1. The graphics don't impress, character models look bad, and everything has a stock texture feel to it. Maybe it's time to move on from the Unity engine? I dunno... I just know I had to exit and make sure I was playing the PS5 version because I couldn't see any improvement over 2K21.
    2. If you can sit through 5 minutes of the home screen without adjusting your audio settings, color me impressed. It's supposed to be a golf game, not an IMAX movie.
    3. For the swing mechanics the game gives you 3 input methods to choose from. Though I appreciate these options, I would prefer an option to adjust the dead zone or sensitivity for the X-axis. As with 2K21 I felt stuck having to choose playability over challenge because the swing stick is so sensitive and feels wildly unpredictable. People are expected to play this with THUMBS, right? I don't recall the phrase "all thumbs" being a compliment to describe someone's deftness, precision or accuracy.
    4. The ads. This brings me to why I can't go into a more detailed review. The ad experience is absolutely atrocious... pop-ups on the home screen, banner ads all over the place, and microtransactions looming behind every accidental button press. Companies like 2K want you to believe that they have to hawk their microtransactions in order to be competitive in the market. And yet, they are one of a small group of AAA publishers that actually do it. Plenty of AAA titles come out every year with little or no in-game purchases and they seem to be doing just fine. The way ads dominate the screen real estate cheapens the game experience worse than a "free with ads" mobile game.

I put off getting this game because of the lackluster reviews. I even went back to 2K21 to scratch that golf game itch while I waited for a sale. Imagine my excitement when it came up as one of the free PSN games for the month. Turns out I couldn't uninstall it fast enough.

In the end, PGA Tour 2K23 is far from perfect, but also much closer than anyone could have expected. With EA Sports re-entering the video golf scene next year, I have high hopes that fresh competition and a little fine-tuning will encourage 2K to deliver a resurgence of excitement to golf game enthusiasts in the years to come.

PGA Tour 2K23 takes an already excellent golfing simulator and builds upon it, making it better and more fleshed out by adding things that were sorely needed. We’re still waiting for properly glamourous careers and tournaments but the gameplay itself will spellbind every golf fan.

I’ve missed having a good golf sim and PGA Tour 2K23 is indeed a good golf sim, part of me would have like a skip button as well/instead of the speed up button so that you could get straight to your next shot rather than having to watch your shot from start to finish… but that’s nit picking and not essential. Once you get over the initial hurdle of getting used to the controls it starts to become a more relaxing experience… but not so calm that you won’t find yourself occasionally shanking your shot into the water or slicing into a bunker. Ultimately though it’s a fun way to spend some time in virtual nature.
