Sep 25, 2025NHL 26 delivers the most refined hockey experience in the series to date, featuring technical gameplay, engaging modes, and top-tier presentation. The new ICE-Q 2.0 engine enhances realism across the board, while Be a Pro offers an immersive narrative journey and Ultimate Team introduces new strategic layers. It’s not the most accessible title at first, but it rewards dedication. Combining authenticity, depth, and intensity, NHL 26 stands out as one of the most complete sports simulations of the season.

Sep 16, 2025EA SPORTS NHL 26 is excellent in many ways. Whether you're a newcomer to the rink or someone like me who hasn't touched a title in the series since the first PlayStation, it won't be difficult to adapt to the functionality of the controls and the pace of each match. You'll be supported in the best possible way, and the various game modes further increase the fun and understanding for both laymen and curious players. It's the perfect gateway for those who want to learn about the sport and its various leagues.
-
Sep 14, 2025NHL 26 is a fun game that does enough to bring hockey titles in line with the advancements seen in EA's latest sports games. Both on the rink and in the modes, everything works well.
-
Sep 11, 2025NHL 26 brings new gameplay changes that bring hockey to life in a way that is better than ever. There are still some things to be ironed out, a typical issue for yearly sports releases, but there is a lot of fun to be had for hockey fans everywhere.
-
Sep 11, 2025NHL 26 is the best ice hockey game you can buy, but don't go into the experience expecting a casual pick-up and play experience. With incredible realism and excellent presentation, NHL 26 is the closest thing many of us will experience to playing in the intensity of arenas like the Bell Centre. It's a very good sports game, but sometimes you just want to have fun.
-
Sep 11, 2025EA Sports NHL 26 has made some big improvements to gameplay that become more noticeable over time, with a new Be-A-Pro mode that is better than before.
-
Sep 10, 2025NHL 26 is a terrific iteration of the series, bringing together immersive, in-depth gameplay thanks to the ICE-Q 2.0 AI system, terrific visuals and a huge roster of modes.. It's puckin' great.
-
Sep 8, 2025NHL 26 faces many of the same problems as EA Sports' other two sports series, such as pleasing both hardcore and casual fans by dividing its focus across multiple modes, but with the expected greater emphasis on the most profitable ones. However, single-player fans are well served, the graphics quality is superb, and the gameplay is fun.
-
Sep 8, 2025There's a lot to love about this year's NHL game. From the redesigned Be A Pro mode to the enhanced NHL EDGE authenticity, it's a notable step up from previous years. NHL 26 has perhaps the best 'superstar' mode of EA's current sports lineup, which is shocking considering how stuck in the mud it's been prior to now. If you've been on the fence about EA's pro hockey series, now's the time to jump in.

Sep 30, 2025EA Sports NHL 26 delivers a rich, challenging, and deeply realistic experience. It stands as the premier ice hockey simulator available on the market. Yet it faces certain issues. The initial difficulty and the lack of learning tools may discourage new players, while microtransactions continue to cast a shadow over competitive modes.
-
Sep 11, 2025Now featuring an enhanced X-Factor system and NHL EDGE integration, NHL 26 improves over NHL 25 in emphasis on individual player tendencies and statistical capture.
-
Sep 8, 2025NHL 26 refines its gameplay with ICE-Q 2.0 and a stronger Be A Pro mode, creating smoother and more authentic hockey. Clearer X-Factors add balance, but Frostbite limitations, recycled ideas, and heavy microtransactions hold it back. A solid step forward, yet not the revolution the series still needs.
-
Sep 9, 2025Overall, NHL 26 presents itself as a title that marks a necessary step in the right direction. However, the game is not without flaws, and the overall picture is a mix of innovation and stagnation.
-
Sep 5, 2025NHL 26 isn’t a perfect entry, let’s be clear, but it’s a true starting point to relaunch the brand toward new quality standards. There are solid improvements across all the main modes, while the gameplay—despite a few nuances—strives for realism at all costs and gives the overall experience an exceptionally genuine sense of immersion.
-
Sep 12, 2025NHL 26 delivers a mixed experience. The game shows flashes of brilliance, thanks to a solid gameplay rhythm and a fair amount of on-ice spectacle, but it's still weighed down by a range of persistent issues. These flaws, while sometimes minor, can become increasingly frustrating over the course of a full season, especially for dedicated players. The revamped Be a Pro career mode is a welcome improvement, addressing several weaknesses from previous iterations. However, the rest of the game modes offer little evolution, largely recycling content and features from last year without introducing meaningful innovations.

Sep 16, 2025‘NHL 26’ is a revamp and refresh. However, to me, it’s an incredibly hard game to justify buying from last year’s installment. In the game’s defense, I will argue this against those online who say ‘this is just a glorified roster update’ because I can tell there have been several little improvements to make things a better playing experience. ‘NHL 26’ is still a good game for me. Plus, I can see possible ways that modes like ‘Be A Pro’ can go in the future, especially with the updates to ‘Franchise Mode’ in ‘NHL 25’. I do feel like we are a goalie that’s been left out to dry in the third period late.
-
Sep 15, 2025NHL 26 is not a game that reinvents the wheel, nor does it shed the criticisms leveled at its annual predecessors. However, it represents a decent step forward in key areas. The refinements to puck physics and skating mechanics are substantial, delivering a more authentic and rewarding on-ice experience. While lingering issues, such as inconsistent goaltending AI and repetitive commentary, prevent it from achieving what hockey fans dream of. Be A Pro is certainly more enjoyable, but still requires a ton of work to feel authentic. NHL 26 doesn’t come close to reaching the heights of the series, but it isn’t terrible by any means.
-
Sep 15, 2025NHL 26 is the best hockey experience right now, but it feels more like an upgrade from NHL 25 than a true overhaul. It's great for fans, but the high entry barrier and EA's need for more innovation leave room for improvement in the next edition.
-
Sep 8, 2025With a number of improvements such as a new goalie crease system and NHL EDGE data being used to enhance player behaviour, NHL 26 is undoubtedly a great hockey game. Be A Pro mode still has some issues, though, and you can just tell that the series doesn't get as much love as the likes of EA Sports FC.
-
Sep 8, 2025NHL 26 adds welcome touches to the major overhaul that was NHL 25. A majority of the game does carry over for better or worse, but the updates to ICE-Q 2.0 gameplay do make a difference this year helping separate the best from the mid. The gameplay department receives a solid boost as a whole. Be a Pro is the mode to spend time in as it's the major update the mode has needed. Franchise Mode continues to have all the tools, but feels lackluster in execution. The extremely slow menus do not help the situation. Those looking for major updates to Chel won't find it here, and HUT does have nice additions if this is your mode of choice. Is the game fun? Absolutely. There have been excellent games of hockey played against the AI and great-looking plays executed. Being able to use the face buttons for special moves is also a bonus. There just isn't as much of an overhaul here as there was last year, but rather refinements in certain categories.
-
Sep 5, 2025Hockey is family. Hockey is life. Hockey is a source of joy. NHL 26, less so. For all the good it does, this is an off year; this is certainly no NHL 17. I hoped for more.
-
Oct 15, 2025The annual hockey update arrived a little earlier this year, but it still feels very much the same.
-
Oct 6, 2025NHL 26 doesn’t reinvent the formula, but for longtime fans of hockey or the franchise, it’s more than satisfying. Just be warned - if you’re new to this world, the game won’t be very welcoming at first, and the real fun only begins once you fully get the hang of it.
-
Sep 24, 2025NHL 26 isn’t a massive overhaul by any means. The title fixates on a couple of key areas to improve upon, and unlike some previous entries, it succeeds. The new updates to Be A Pro, chiefly the World Juniors and voice acting, are incredibly welcome. Even more so, the tweaks to the hitting engine and especially goaltending are phenomenal. But that’s a rather slight list of changes for a full-scale annual release. Pair that with poor online performance and difficulty of finding matches, and you have to ask yourself if the updates are worth it. Is this a better title than NHL 25? Absolutely. But are those changes enough to make this a good game? Well, that’s a more complicated question.
-
Sep 12, 2025Reviews aren’t the place to weigh in on how to fix things, so I won’t do that here. Deep down I hope the developers who are making this are kicking down Electronic Arts CEO, Andrew Wilson's, door asking for more time, budget, or anything really. Developers tend to be super fans who love making amazing games. I believe that about EA Vancouver, but this is not good enough and hasn’t been good enough for years. The players who return year after year deserve better.
