Ultimately, New World: Aeternum is a fantastic MMO, building on the foundations of the greatest games of yesteryear. However, after 60 hours, I’m just not sure if I’ll be returning to the shores of Aeternum anytime soon.

Not a remake, not an action RPG, but definitely a very refined MMO experienced tailored to be inclusive to solo and console players, New World has received a major shot of accessibility with the release of Aeternum. With a welcoming community, a refined story, and some very fun crafting mechanics, there is a lot of material here to dig into and enjoy. If you are looking for a new title to sink 1000 hours into, you could do far worse than this one.

While the power of a PC environment can never be trumped by a console, and that’s where console games are born, so it should be the apex technology leader in gaming, the console version of New World: Aeternum works very well. The controller layout is easy to use, the graphics are premium, though some enemies are very blah when it comes to detailed character modeling, and everything you would expect from the PC version is here. Having the ability to easily communicate due to PSN and easily grouping with friends will be a treat on console...The game works solidly on the PlayStation and it’s a game I will revisit multiple times before I’m done with it or before a new expansion is released.

New World: Aeternum is the MMO that New World should have been in 2021. A few small niggles are keeping it from truly elite status.

With its immersive setting, streamlined gameplay, and bustling endgame (not to mention the one-time buy-in) New World Aeternum is a great MMO for newcomers and genre enthusiasts alike. Whether you want to engage in the persistent Faction War or play it like a singleplayer action RPG, there’s a huge amount of freedom while the core game itself has been enriched through months of updates and fully optimised for consoles.

Aeternum still manages to captivate after many hours of gameplay, nonetheless, and it’s encouraging for the future of the game that Amazon has stayed loyal to the project for so long already.

This reworking of a PC hit makes it a highly approachable, massive role-play action title that is as welcoming to new players as it is MMO experts hell-bent on sinking hundreds of hours of gameplay in. The fighting is fun and the world building is extensive. Well worth a look.

It’s hard to give a definitive rating or opinion on an MMORPG, as the game is always changing and evolving, hopefully for the better. But it is without a doubt that New World: Aeternum is leagues better than what it was 3 years ago, with an enhanced beginner experience, a fleshed out endgame, tons of content, and availability across 3 major platforms. I’m so glad that the team at Amazon Games didn’t give up on this project!

New World: Aeternum is a high-quality MMO experience, and the transition to PS5 has been smooth. With a focus on action combat, gorgeous visuals, and a free-form, classless levelling system, even castaways on a deserted, haunted island would be hard-pressed to do and see everything it offers.

New World Aeternum offers a similar experience to the usual 'definitive versions': the best, most complete version available, at a reasonable price.

New World: Aeternum is a promising action RPG/MMORPG hybrid that offers accessible and flexible combat and progression systems that are a blast to dig into and make those initial hours spent leveling and exploring the island of Aeternum a pure joy.

New World: Aeternum is a good re-release and expansion of the original game, well adapted for consoles and with more than enough setting, combat and content to keep MMORPG fans engaged for dozens of hours.

New World: Aeternum’s mix of swords, magic and gunpowder is blended with a colorful world and accessible but satisfying mechanics. With a good balance between solo, co-op PvE and PvP content, Aeternum has something to offer most players. Nothing’s incredibly original, but neither is anything totally broken or missing. The most glaring faults of the original have been addressed. Whatever you call it — reboot, remix or re-skin — New World: Aeternum is worth checking out.

New World: Aeternum lives up to its style and offers many surprisingly intuitive gameplay options. There are technical problems, especially in combat, but the vibrant world of Aeternum should keep players occupied while the developers improve core aspects.

If you are new to MMOs then New World Aeternum may be the perfect jumping off point for you into a New World. An approachable, satisfying experience that could well give you the bug for this beloved game genre.

New World Aeternum is an interesting update that brings a host of new features for new and old players alike. There's a lot on the menu for leveling up, some welcome tweaks to a number of outdated areas, and some interesting new end-game content. The new PvP mode, which is more or less the same as mining, works extremely well, while the new (and first) 10-player raid will give you a run for your money. As far as the console port is concerned, on the controller, New World comes through with flying colors. Apart from a few hiccups in the menus and some odd mapping for certain actions, it's very pleasant and instinctive to hold. It's only visually, however, that the console version falls short. The various graphic modes on offer aren't particularly convincing, and the game relies far too heavily on its artistic direction to make up for its technical glitches. In this respect, we sincerely hope that patches will come along to correct the situation. For the rest, New World Aeternum on PS5 is a good pick in its genre.

New World: Aeternum has made some great changes in time for its console release, and while the endgame might not have too much to offer yet, the leveling process is plenty of fun, especially if you go deep into the crafting system.

New World: Aeternum on consoles gives us an entertaining experience with a variety of activities along with all that the genre has to offer, but what it provides is not particularly fresh. The archetype system and controller adaptation are the best, leading to us to forget that the game is PC-based. Graphically, it is acceptable, but there are certain details that need to be addressed.

I’m so tired of this manipulative garbage. I can't wait to stop being addicted to it.
