New Super Lucky's Tale remains an excellent platformer with simple yet functional gameplay, fun and vibrant levels, and an exciting soundtrack. The PS5 version features minor improvements that make the experience even smoother, making it a highly recommended title for all fans of the genre.

Though the game has clearly been made on a relatively shoestring budget, it still manages to ooze a happy go lucky charm all the same that feels increasingly rare in these fraught times. New Super Lucky’s Tale might lack truly innovative gameplay elements or any new features beyond its PS4 counterpart, but the fact that there are still so few bonafide 3D platformers doing the rounds means that New Super Lucky’s Tale still earns itself an easy recommendation for fans of the genre and proves itself as an ample and captivating post Astro Bot fix.

New Super Lucky’s Tale is largely the same game as was released on PS4 in August 2020, only with 4k and 120Hz implementation. It’s still good, but the tilt controls on the challenge levels feel slightly off now. That might be down to the DualSense, but it makes the tilt levels feel like an even more unforgiving gauntlet than they already were. This being released in 2026 has us wondering if we’ll ever see NSLT2. Don't worry though, New Super Lucky's Tale is still worth playing and if it leads to a sequel eventually, it's all good.

The PS5 version of New Super Lucky’s Tale is its best console port yet. It plays like a dream at 120 fps and at 4K resolution, allowing for the charming platformer to really shine. If you haven’t checked it out yet, this is certainly the version to get.

Six years after its initial release, New Super Lucky Tale remains a fun and dynamic 3D platformer. However, its current arrival on PS5 feels like a missed opportunity to smooth out its rough edges, failing to take advantage of the enhancement capabilities that would have justified this port. This version is certainly recommendable for those who have never played it, but for those who already own it on PS4, the paid upgrade offers no relevant novelty for a new foray into that world.

New Super Lucky’s Tale on PlayStation 5 is a charming, polished and technically a remaster of the original game that benefits greatly from the console’s capabilities. It may not offer surprises for those familiar with earlier versions but it delivers an uber‑fun gaming experience that is sorely needed. Recommended for lovers of platforming fun.

I loved playing through New Super Lucky's Tale - PlayStation 5 Edition which marks my 5th time with this adorable modern 3D platformer and, hey, I still enjoy it so that says a lot! Plus, did you see how cute those owls are? We need a game that stars those chums.

New Super Lucky's Tale arrives on PlayStation 5 in the best form ever seen on the console: a graphical and performance upgrade only, without adding anything new to the formula or additional content such as levels or mini-games. The game now reaches 4K resolution and 120 fps, as well as implementing the DualSense haptic feedback, though it isn't always used to its full potential. As for the gameplay, we're faced with a platformer with a decent amount of variety, alternating between 3D levels and 2D scrolling ones, not to mention that little bit of exploration that never hurts. The difficulty isn't particularly high, but perhaps in this case that could be a good thing: New Super Lucky's Tale focuses on fun and the desire to rediscover a genre for all ages. After all, who said a video game should only be a challenge against yourself?

New Super Lucky’s Tale returns with an updated and improved version of the game’s first re-release, refining the technical aspects just enough to bring it up to date. These are minor changes, but they’re welcome nonetheless, giving the game a fresh lease of life. Admittedly, the difficulty level remains low for most of the adventure, but if you’re looking for a light-hearted, undemanding platformer, New Super Lucky’s Tale is the game for you.

New Super Lucky's Tale isn't the most unique 3D platformer in the world, but younger gamers will find enough variety to keep them smiling.
