    I really thought the story in the beginning was really interesting and the graphics quite good. However that's where all the phrase ends. The rest of my experience was so bad I rage quit and deleted the game mid race.     Seemed very similar to burnout paradise and I looked it up to discover it largely was by the same folks. They took a big step back tho. I had to keep grinding the same races to earn enough money to enter in to the next race. This got old really quick. I also wasnt impressed by the boosting, drifting, and overall handling; it was better in burnout paradise.     Just another NFS game that fails to stand out from the bunch. Currently playing just through sheer willpower because of how much I paid for it. It's just not a fun game.

    - Nothing new in the world, sure there are some new collectibles, but that's it, same old same old
    - The heat system can get incredibly boring and frustrating, I spend more time running from the cops than actually racing
    - On Heat 5, at times cops just teleport right next to you
    - Racing can also get very frustrating, I get that not getting first place everytime is fine, but I want to win, not lose half the time and not have enough retries for it, it's just not fun
    - The soundtrack list will for sure not suit everyone's taste, just as it didn't for me
    - The female voices are hard to distinguish, during the story I had an hard time to know if it was my character speaking or another one

    I played nfs after a long time, I regret it so much I'm tired of racing with the same characters on the same maps and with the same cars I'm tired of seeing and more more more cops MORE.

    Los gráficos de este juego no me han gustado son malos y pobres. Realmente no vale la pena gastar 60 en este juego, yo me esperaría a que este rebajado a 40 o 30.

Die Npcs hätten auch einfach weniger sein können, wenn man wegen den cops die ganze zeit nach links unten gucken muss und nicht auf die straße achten kann fühlt sich das halt so an als würden die npcs einfach vor dir spawnen.
    ich will garnicht erst auf die langweilige und Zeitverschwendene Story eingehen aber das es wirklich immer nur das selbe ist ist halt scheiße das einzige interessante sind die autos die man sich zusammenstellen kann. Für die Story empfehl ich euch einfach alles so gut wie möglich zu skippen und dann nen moneyglitch bei der quali zu machen falls ihr die spielen wollt. Das einzige was ich noch loben kann sind die Collectables das das wenigstens nicht so schlecht wie in z.B. Spiderman oder Horizon ist.
    Zum Multiplayer kann ich fast garnichts sagen außer das es wenigstens etwas spaß macht wenn man mit freunden spielt.
    Falls EA noch mehr kack spiele rausbringt schmeiß ich hundescheiße an deren firma.    … Expand

    Here is to the people who thought nfs unbound will be a big hit and will be a good game after nfs heat. What do you know, turns out its just another doodoo game with absolutely awful after game support. So much for initial 70 bucks price, eh? Shame

    El juego es realmente malo, el doblaje en español castellano no parece enserio, suena con jergas de niños infantiles de cuando os troleabais en el colegio tu y tus amigos.

    Los coches y los gráficos están muy bien pero por ejemplo yo me he elegido el Silvia y sinceramente se controla como si fuera un tractor y estoy seguro que ese sistema de conducción obligándose al derrape va a ser así con todos los coches. Aproveche una oferta de 40€ que había en la store porque el juego me llamaba la atención, esos 40€ los he perdido me siento realmente estafado, no entiendo cómo puede haber gente que le guste este juego realmente... Es que la conducción que es lo que yo creo más IMPORTANTE es horrible, mal diseñada y obligada al estilo derrape al 100% los enemigos siempre hay uno que te va a sacar km de distancia porque te meten ya a competir contra titanes como un lambo o cosas por el estilo, no hay equilibrio es realmente absurdo que te cobren hasta por la ropa del personaje una millonada y realmente absurdo el sistema de misiones y progresión. Luego también lo de la policía que ten suerte que como te persigan 3 coches a 3 flames al principio ni lo intentes que no les vas a burlar.
    Antes de comprarlo mire aquí las malas críticas y las buenas que tiene el juego y no hice caso a las malas y ha sido realmente un error. De verdad me siento totalmente ESTAFADO he dado mi dinero a una compañía de basura que no sabe hacer casi ningún juego bien joder. No volverá a pasar.

    Your car can drive through 60% of objects such as trees, fences, walls, road barriers, rocks. It can get very confusing due to the inconsistency of this and it get's hard to know what you can drive through and what not.
    The checkpoints are way to small and are only meant for you... If you miss it, you are respawned. If the AI misses it, nothing happens. Giving the AI an advantage, because he can push you out fo the trajectory, while you can't.
    Police are stupid. Way to easy to shake off. The helicopter doesn't serve any purpose.

    The whole UI is confusing. The map seems extremely small and is boring af.

    Props for adding pedestrians, but no one asked for it.

    This is the kind of BS where you ask yourself if the developpers did even test the game.

    DO NOT PAY THE FULL PRICE FOR THIS GAME. I got it discounted and still feel cheated.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is pretty, but it seems the developers are either coasting, don't understand car parts and it's glitchy.

    I am guessing the devs have no idea about used and rebuilt auto parts, since you can't sell them once you have bought them. When you work at a garage.

    The soundtrack is beyond sub par compared to NFS Heat. I have had racers phase through oncoming traffick, while said oncoming traffick hits my car (story mode) and today I had teleporting racers both out of the race entirely and into the water (on drivers side of vehicle) at 5th place only to appear a minute later coming off a cliff and back into the race (from the passengers side) in 3rd place in an endurance run. Where they appeared from was entire off the course.

    It's pretty but the inability to sell parts when storyline insists on multiple cars and the lowballing on selling cars, how

    I was really vibing with this game and have enjoyed the free trial. I finished as much as a I was allowed to campaign wise and I hopped on the online mode and holy smokes is it a HUGE step backwards from Heat.     Finally, separating online and single player progress, while I understand why it was done I think it the worst part. That was my favorite part about Heat. once I was done with my friends I could just continue what I was doing in my campaign.

    I will not be buying this game until it is a finished product, because right now it certainly isn't.    … Expand

Bcs without it ur car is waaay slower. Also the BURST nitro works so randomly. Sometimes the BURST nitro refills in 100% just for doing nothing, sometimes it doesnt want to refill by even 1% whileBig NOPE. This game is insanely bad. Second thing: handling physic is broken. If you touch the rival/traffic/wall the steering wheel locks for some sec, and your wheels are locked in the ‚neutral’ position, and you cannot make a big angle - so you cannot manipulate the steering wheel, cannot turn. Same thing happens after every ‚drift’. The roads are filled with random bumps, and the bumps also locks ur steergin wheel. The game should be fun, but the only fun thing is the car customization. Thats all. Fckn **** Worst NFS EVER! NFS RIVALS was filled with bugs, but at least it was mooore fun! The drift is also unpredictable bcs sometimes it gives the standard angle, but sometimes extremely wide and then your car makes a spin. Even at the 5th gear and only 5000rpm. Great job EA & Criterion. You guys did this game even worse than the rookie developers. Table Top Racing World Tour has better handling than this. Even Crash Team Racing..… Expand

    But can a game on an easy difficulty level be easy? I just want to beat the game and not sweat over the race for which I pay a ridiculous amount ? if I wanted difficulty I would choose another mode or another game , one race and then bark and so on in a circle thanks bravo vernier money

    The game is **** dog **** like literally the worst they have put out in years! Besides the visuals of the cars, this games sucks ass in every aspect:
    - driving
    - world aesthetics and richness - dialogues (omfg please just shut the **** up for one second)
    - character optics
    - enemy ai
    - cop ai
    - "funky" visual extra that u are UNABLE TO TURN OFF

    What a **** disappointment of a game..

    Bad physics, cringe voice lines, trash story, ai is near impossible to beat in some races even with difficulty set to lowest settings, same cars as previous game. They just took what would have been the ps5 version of heat and called it unbound.

    After playing the EA Play trial (10h), I can say Unbound is a step in the right direction, but the game is held back by the Frostbite Engine.

    + I like the new gameplay features (meetups, rivals, weekly events, high risk - high reward mechanics)
    + The story and characters are better than what we got with Heat (still annoying at times, but it's Need for Speed after all)
    + Creative artists involved in creating graffiti, tags, particles, car body parts, etc.
    + It's fun to play, not going to lie

    - The graphics: this is a pretty game overall, but definitely not "next-gen". The roads look blurry and shiny; the environment (rocks, foliage, buildings, etc) looks flat, lacks depth and high quality textures. Reflections are overdone and everything looks like a mirror. Generally speaking, everything lacks contrast, with the HDR feature being completely broken on release. To be honest, Driveclub had better details although it was released in 2014 on older hardware.

    - The physics: everything in this game lacks the proper weight. Destructible elements (fences, traffic signs, small trees, etc.) seem to be made out of paper. Crashing into other cars or buildings is completely unpredictable (and unrealistic most of the times): you don't know if your car is simply going to stop or start flying and spinning in the air, completely defying the law of gravity. At times I couldn't tell the difference between driving a car in NFS or a light-armored vehicle in Battlefield 2042 (which probably uses a slightly different version of the same engine).

    - Character customization: how is this supporting self-expression if I can only wear streetwear outfits? It's impossible to create a non-edgy character in this game.

    - The price: In no way, shape or form this game is worth $85 (local price in my country, for the PS5 standard edition, digital format). I'll wait for a deep discount before purchasing the full game.

    Verdict: if you care about the details, don't buy this game until it's discounted. If you liked Heat and you just want to have fun, get the game and start playing :)    … Expand

Even if there was an option to turn off this anime trash, I bet these developers will still force us to watch the effects from other players. It's funny how the game is already $30 off when it's barely two weeks old. It just goes to show how out of touch these developers are. If anyone wanted cartoon effects and cel shading, then they would've bought a cartoon game instead of this. What were they even thinking?     In all honesty, this is a solid game. You could start this game up, have a ton of fun with it, and leave it behind in the end with a good feeling. Is that feeling worth 70+ dollars? I don't think so. Let me explain in more detail.

    Graphics: I mean what else is there to say? Its a gorgeous game. Some people will have different opinions on the cartoony effects, lighting, shadows, etc. I didn't think I'd like them before the game came out, but after putting about 20 hours into it, I accepted it and it's not bad at all.

    Gameplay: This is where the game takes its first hit. Its not particularly fun to drive in this. You'll get small hints of "fun" driving here and there, but it just doesn't feel right. Almost like they took the driving physics and mechanics from NFS HEAT and tweaked them to try and copy a popular mod called UNITE. Drifting doesn't feel good at all. It seems like the car slows almost to a halt when using B,A,A+, or even S rank cars. S+ cars seem to be able to fully power through the drift properly, however S+ rank races are horribly not fun at any difficulty setting in the game since the NPCs almost feel scripted. Using a level 3 boost and a full shot of nitrous, and the NPC and/or Cop will stay right next to you the whole time. Its almost like they took the rubber banding cops from HEAT and used that system for the racers in this. Its just not fun. While we're on the subject of the cops, they spawn in just as badly as they did in Cyberpunk 2077 when it first came out. They also always know where you are, and as a test I sat with my car off in between a wall and a gas station for 30 minutes at heat level 5. The game would just spawn cops over and over and over again as they drove around the gas station in a circle. No way to leave your hiding spot without getting picked up by one of them. The Police helicopters almost felt magnetized to your car. Hiding under a overpass on cooldown, they would just circle the overpass. Not to mention if there's a cop within a mile of you when you finish a race, you have to do an annoying after race escape, which is just there to waste your time. Just like car customization. It's come a long way, but overall its the same body kits from the last 3 games. The same exhausts. The same hoods. Nothing new here, all reused assets. A select few cars have more, but not much. Car list is fine, even though there's not a single Toyota, or anything even remotely fun from the 2000s era of motorsports. No Supra? Really? All in all, it wasn't that great an experience for how much time was supposedly put into this game.

    Music: Its a 5/10, cause I only really liked (and I use the word like loosely) about 50% of the music. Others will have they're own opinion. Take this one as a evened out score.

    Sound effects: Man the cars sound great in this. Someone put a lot of time into sound design for this game, and it shows. Kudo's to them.

    Story: I'll start with this one tidbit. There's only one character that's good in this game, and that is Rydell. Every other character was either shallow, annoying, or trying to push a social agenda. What happened to the days when a character in the game that you raced against was just "Darren and he drives a Miata"? The best part about these games is figuring out their personality from the looks of their car, how they look as a character. I don't need backstories for super shallow characters. The main villain of the game is... a good person... who screwed you over.. and that's okay? There's no "Boss" races to be seen anywhere.. Everyone likes each other and there's no beef with anyone. Straight boring. Rydell is literally the only character in the game that has any depth to him, and that makes him feel more like a real person. The weekly system that's in the game, with both day and night cycles, makes the game feel like its on rails. You don't actually have a choice on what you want to do, you just do what the game tells you to do. I realize all the NFS games are like that, but this one makes you feel like your on a set track and there's nothing you can do about it.

    So in the end, did I have a good time playing it? Yes. Would I recommend it to others? Sure. Is it the best NFS game? Not even close. Would I replay it multiple times? No. I'll play it twice through to make sure I didn't miss anything, and maybe later down the road if they add DLC or something along those lines, but there's no way I can suffer myself to play this story multiple times for fun.     I would have liked the game, except for the excessive amount of cops, that just kills it for me. Driving through forests or fields without knowing where i am going, not enjoying the games, just to avoid the cops. Excessive still doesn't fully describe how overdone the amount of cops in the game is.

The art style is refreshing and very unique. The car customization and the grind to work your way up to the top is addictive.     Probably the best NFS to date.
    At first i was very sceptical about Criterion but god damn they delivered. The game released in a very polished state (Which is surprising by today's standards) and it has enough content to keep you hooked for hundreds of hours dare i say and when you know that the game is going to have a lot of post launch support makes me even more excited.

Customization is great, cops are good, story is actually interesting this time around and the world is the best that the franchise has ever seen. A unique approach on the visuals make the game stand out and gives more life to everything, and the handling is actually responsive this time around.

    I was fully expecting a copy of heat with a map just as bad as heats was but instead we got something way better than heat. Yeah you can say it’s just a heat 2.0 but the map is 100% better the car customization is way better and the story is so much better

    I think after nfs heat's success...unbound is a step in the right direction where we fans have always wanted NFS to go. This game feels like a successor to underground,most wanted,heat,carbon.
    Also this art style of characters is so unique and i kinda like it.
    Plus there are no racing games to out right now besides forza to play. Forza is all about festival and races. If you want that driving thrill,NOS and undefeated customization...Unbound is the way to go!!

    One of the best NFS, hands down. Recommend! People who say there’s not sense of speed.. are totally wrong. Sometimes I wish it would slow down because it’s so fast! But that’s a good thing! Also the track is good. I never liked heat, this is so much better.

    The story follows a classic NFS formula, the characters have some interesting background to them, it can provide a good challenge, both grip and drift handling seem to be well balanced, and of course the visual effects, love them or hate them, they sure give the game character.

I was also hoping A$AP Rocky would be a bit more included with the story, maybe another cut-scene once you race him or so wouldn't hurt.
    As for online, hard to say much on these early days. The separate progression system is a nice addition however time and involvement from players will tell if that was a good call. With player count per server only being 16, it can be difficult to fill up a lobby of people willing to play through a playlist. Here's hope for good post launch support because there is definitely more potential left in it.    … Expand

    This is the best arcade racing game since Midnight club LA. Physics are amazing its perfect mixture of MCLA and Burnout Paradise and a tiny bit of hot pursuit remastrer. Visuals look great even cartoon stuff looks good. It's a the best nfs since idk even know probably hot pursuite.

And now, after 10 long years, Need for Speed Unbound has managed to capture that charm and fun factor that MW2012 brought to theI got into this series with Need for Speed Carbon on the Wii. I took a break from the franchise until Most Wanted 2012 came out and, despite it's unfitting name, was the most racing game I had ever played, sinking nearly 200 hours into the multiplayer alone. And now, after 10 long years, Need for Speed Unbound has managed to capture that charm and fun factor that MW2012 brought to the series, and vastly improves upon it in almost every aspect.

    The gameplay loop is incredibly unique and pretty challenging at times. Cops are WAY more fair than they were in NFS Heat, although it is fairly easy to outrun them in lower heat levels. Vehicle damage has been completely overhauled allowing for more crashes before critical damage, and the limited gas station repairs from Heat are gone, making cop chases actually fun and worthwhile since they earn you money depending on your heat level when you escape.

    The game world feels like a mix between MW2012, NFS 2015, and Heat. The cel-shaded, graffiti riddled artstyle screams creativity and you can tell the art team put a lot of care into making each element fit perfectly with the rest of the game. My favorite aspect of the game, however, has to be the sound design.

    The sound design in this game can be described as beautifully chaotic. Each time you activate a fully charged burst nitrous, you're rewarded with a cacophony of sounds ranging from deep bass hums to high pitched whirs and whistles, all layered over the classic Need for Speed nitrous sound that perfectly compliment the fast paced and chaotic nature of Unbound. What's more is that there's 9 different sound palettes to choose from that have their own distinct sound profiles.

    The handling model is vastly improved over Heat. Cars now have proper weight to them that affects handling and other aspects of the driving experience. Granted, it's still super arcadey, but the added vehicle weight paired with the updated handling makes driving that much more fun and actually makes you think about how to enter a corner.

    Overall, while not perfect, Need for Speed Unbound is easily the strongest entry to the series in over a decade and is a true love letter to not only fans of the series, but to street racing as a whole.    … Expand

While far from a flawless experience and lackluster in areas it shouldn't be anymore (namely handling and customization), the bad things aren't enough to detract from the overall quality of the game. A solid racer with good gameplay and interesting progression system that finally strikes a great balance between risk and reward.

Von Tuning bis Rennen ist alles sehr schön gemacht, die Effekte und der Anime/Manga Stil harmonieren sehr gut im Gesamtbild. Bin sehr froh darüber dass sie es geschafft haben wieder ein geiles Game zu machen. Für mich jetzt der beste NFS Teil der jemals rauskam. (Sie hätten es auch Underground 3 nennen können ;)

    This game feels like Midnight Club and Fast and Furious had a baby that was raised by Burnout. 10/10 visuals and gameplay feels like I’m actually a street racer and not just a glorified car collector. Don’t be surprised if boomers give low reviews because they like Forza or don’t want this game to be better than UG2 or MW

Excelente história e uma estética que se destaca de qualquer outro jogo de corrida. Tudo o que eles precisam é continuar a fornecer atualizações para este jogo.     Love the story driven progress system. The aesthetic and the music of the game mixes so well like Most Wanted did. Game plays really well too, cars don’t feel like they’re floating and the AI is challenging. First NFS in a long time i’m enjoying so much. Hope they keep up the quality content for this generation consoles

    This game just DELIVERS!

    I had very low expectations for this Need for Speed game thinking it's just like Heat & Payback but with a different skin. Damn was i wrong. Overall this game in my opinion is the best in the last 10-12 years. It's polished, it's nice looking, it feels great to play, the story keeps you hooked up, the car selection is the biggest in a NFS franchise, Criterion    This game just DELIVERS!

    Overall this game in my opinion is the best in the last 10-12 years. It's polished, it's nice looking, it feels great to play, the story keeps you hooked up, the car selection is the biggest in a NFS franchise, Criterion laid foundation for a great NFS comeback. If you had doubts about this game as i did, trust me you will like this one. I know that due to high criticism of the previous titles this one will go under the radar, but if you have a chance give it a try! It's a must! 10/10    … Expand

    From the first minute till my 10th hour with the game(based off of early access trial, full game standard edition pre-ordered), I can safely say that Criterion has revived the series and in such amazing way possible! There is absolutely no bug, latency, glitch or crash, and the PS5 port (atleast) is a flawless port, for an early access build! Kudos to Criterion and Electronic Arts!     Le retour de NFS :D Je n'avais pas joué depuis NFS Most Wanted et NFS Carbon, je n'avais pas aimé les derniers NFS, mais lui je l'aime beaucoup :D Bande son incroyable

    excellent game, largely deserves his 8/10.

    art : the overall style of the game is different from all the other games from the license but the devs did a fantastic job and made the game very cool/fun to play. 8/10 story : when writing this review i just did 1/4 of the story but honestly, the story is really nice and lots of fun references throughout the whole game, I'm sure i will    excellent game, largely deserves his 8/10.

    gameplay can be a bit boring , but with the reworked difficulty selector there's kind of every difficulty for everyone.
    handling tune being in the game is a massive + too
    and the addition of car grades by letter is allso + too

    soundtrack :

    i think the devs did a good job with the soundtrack, some music are questionable but overall it's alright and fit the spirit of the game, would have liked more variety tho

    conclusion :
    really good game, if you are a casual fan of need for speed you will enjoy for sure
    but if you are a hardcore fan then you may prefer to use a trial or take it on sale.    … Expand

    Need for Speed was seriously starting to look dead and buried – and here comes the rescue party! The combination of beautiful, realistic-looking graphics and effects borrowed straight from an anime works surprisingly well, the story doesn’t get in your way and the driving model hits exactly the right spot. Even the open world is fun! This is how you make an arcade racing game.

    Need for Speed Unbound is the best modern NFS to date. It is still riddled with issues like rubberbanding and weird drifting physics, but it still provides its players with the best handling system in years, with grip racing finally back. With the best visual design NFS has ever had and some interesting campaign decisions, it gives hope that the series is back on track to becoming something great.
