    I really really had my hopes up for this year's 2k but I've been disappointed yet again.. This is getting so f*cking annoying, I had zero fun playing a game where everyone tried to do the sweatiest animations they could possibly find from youtube while I was just not being rewarded for playing smart basket ball. I'm not spending money for this crap ever again. What a huge disappointment.I really really had my hopes up for this year's 2k but I've been disappointed yet again..     Somehow 2k is so genius that they come up with a fking ridiculous dunk meter which is even narrower then any shot meter. In 2k logic Steph makes like 90% of wide open three while LBJ make 10% of wide open dunk.

    Haven't bought the game yet but I can already see from the gameplay of several streamers that its the same old trash with a lot of pay-to-win microtransactions and unrealistic open misses in-game. And not to mention, several players from classic teams are being removed outta nowhere by 2K so idk if they high rn. I just wish the 2k11 or 2k16 days were back yk

    Online: Everybody can shoot online in quick match/player control. Players that were HORRIBLE from previous 2ks now look like Ray Allen. You could be blind in one eye and still make everything regardless if it was late or    I've been playing 2k since 2k6. This is the worst 2k by far. I've been park legend, 95% win rate in quick match, etc so don't think this is just a bad/salty player.

Its not fun anymore when even bad players will make every jump shot, especially when they have the likes of Curry on the team. I even heard they removed locker room all-star teamup!! I can only imagine how bad park/rec will be once everybody gets badges.

    Offline: The computer is insanely broken. They make every open jumpshot, even if on rookie difficulty. Every player, regardless of position, will lock you up on defense. If you're a guard and being guarded by a slow 7 foot center, that center will make you pick up your dribble in most cases. You have to pray to God to get animation anklebreakers just to get by the computer

MyNBA is unplayable due to fact that there are only 3 camera modes and Rail mode is the only sideline camera which is great for watching a NBA game but not playing a video game. Another reason is its trash is that if you take a contested shot with your back to the sideline you will fall into the crowd. Even if the shot is 15ft from the sideline. It then will take 5This game is garbage.     2k just keeps giving people the same game again and again. Broken animations, glitches and bugs that the game suffers from every single year are just some of the problems. Please dont waste your money. PS. They didn't even bother making a visual upgrade for the next gen consoles

    I usually play the 'My Career' mode. For some time now, it has been clear that starting from level 60 (meaning not buying the premium version) was a challenge at the beginning. This year however it is directly unbearable. Every time I play I get incredibly angry. I have not played in two days and I still get angry writing the review.
    And don't get me started with the "quests". I don't even know hoy to review that part... I guess if you buy a basketball game for the fashion & music part, it must be great. That 1% of the buyers must love it. Actually I'm not even sure about that. In my case, it's more disgust that hate. Maybe a 70%-30% mix of both.

    The game is a bug factory! Cameras that don't exist in some modes, turning off the console when you enter online modes. 2K's focus is on micro transactions and nothing else. They don't minimally test their games before release. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Playing on PS5 but runs and loads like a PS1 game. you force online into a mode which clearly should be a solo thing and it just lags like crazy why even bother ? so you can get people to buy VC. You take 5 min to run from one thing or location to another can not even fast travel to the different locations. Progress is drip fed so you buy VC still years later.     Lot of recycled material from previous few 2ks, minimal advancements and same bugs. Way overpriced for pay to win game. Not worth the price in my opinion but if you really want to play would wait for some big sale otherwise just waste of money, specially if you own 2k20 and 2k21

    Gameplay vs AI is a mess. Scoring, Team movement, logical or even individual movement feels like a beta game state. 2k sloppier than EA for now. Btw: still heavy grind, pay2Proceed, and lots of useless efforts like the way too big and ridiculously useless and soulless city!! I don't wanna buy 19293993 under armour shirts, if the game core itself crumbles .

The only different thing this year is the stupid AI, other than that everything's worse, can't understand how and why some people praise it when it's just getting repetitive at this point. Oh yea, they must be the people dribbling until their hands break, right. Not supporting 2k again.

    This is by far the best 2k installment in recent history. The on and off-court experiences are markedly improved from 2k21. Majorly recommended!

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought this was supposed to be a basketball game. The developers seem to put more effort in The City stuff than the actual basketball gameplay mechanics itself. At this point, the basketball feels like a minigame for a Second Life type of game. Why do they even call the open world "The City"?     Apparently $70 plus microtransactions isn't enough for these greedy developers. They decided to put Jake From State Farm in the game as a character you can interact with. So many in-game ads in the game. I would have not mind seeing him in the game if the lip syncing wasn't so garbage. I don't recommend this game at all.    … Expand

    NBA 2K22 is the best 2K, I Seen since 2K16 & 17, Next Gen Gameplay feels great. I love what they did with dunking this year with the new meter. I Love the new Shot mater not gonna lie, I Couldn't Stand 2K21 Gameplay at least with this game this year, it is very smooth and less clunky, so far they can improve little more on A.I and couple of other things but overall I'm happy with the game.

    NBA 2K22 on next gen, is awesome, with new features on the MyNBA mode, and improved gameplay. As well as new features in overall, It's basically one of the best basketball games when on Next Gen.

All the nonsense talk with Ricky and going into the city is so annoying. Going on a skateboard to A and then to B wasting my time. I just want to play Bball not all that stuff!     They absolutely nailed the gameplay. Best in the series for sure. Graphics are also amazing. Updates to the city with the rpg systems is basically a dream I’ve always had playing 2k games as a kid

    Better than 2K21 because of better defense and AI. However, defense is overpowered and I am winning most MyTeams games via shot blocking. I literally block every shot in the paint. Overall a better game, visually better, 3 point % is more realistic and I love the new video clips for perfect 3’s, dunks and blocks. I don’t care about VC, that model has been in place for years now.Better than 2K21 because of better defense and AI. Buttons are responsive, teammate AI is the best in years, shooting feels great as always, the defense is a true highlight with rewarding good reaction timing on switching which direction you're trying to stop the drive. I must sayI have to say that I was ENTIRELY wrong about this game. I have played NBA2K every year since 2K10 and this is the best 2K since 2K16 and yes I truly mean that. Buttons are responsive, teammate AI is the best in years, shooting feels great as always, the defense is a true highlight with rewarding good reaction timing on switching which direction you're trying to stop the drive. I must say that My Career is the true star of the show, the devs leave no doubt that this is YOUR story and you can shape it any way you want to. Wanna be a fashion icon? You can do that. Music idol? You can do that. Want to cause absolute chaos in the organization? Just ask for a trade. Wanna play with other NBA players in a pickup game? You get those offers early on! Now I know what you're thinking.. where are the negatives? There are definitely a few so lets make a new paragraph for this.

    The defense of the AI is SUFFOCATING, non talented PGs were locking me up and able to recover WAY to quickly to my dribble moves so i suggest playing on Pro this year as games are still very competive and your teammates will also play better offensively and defensively. Teammate AI is still an issue man, like why? Why if I play on any difficulty above Pro are my teammates literally clueless and leaving people WIDE open? FIX THIS NOW. The City has MAJOR framerate problems and im playing on a PS5! Why 2K struggles to do what other devs do easily which is give a stable 60FPS is beyond me but thankfully The City in general is much more interesting and immersive this year.

    My score is a 8.5/10

    There is a lot too improve but THIS is what we have wanted for years and now all they gotta do is tweak the AI a bit and you've got a sim to rival MLB The Show. Great work 2K but KEEP listening and improving, dont go back to being the other side of the coin with Madden!    … Expand

    Besides the obvious pay2win aspects, I really enjoy the game. The gameplay is challenging and you can`t just blow past defenders like in earlier installments. So many crybabys here just for the sake of hating.

You'll have to get a PC and stick to playing a different 2K iteration (maybe try the Chinese version?) with the updated 2021-22 rosters. I do agree that the community is absolutely toxic with people on the mic with 90+ overall players flexing on the weaker overall players with obnoxious taunting animations due to the pisspoor lopsided matchmaking that seems to love favoring that type of competition for these 95+ overalls with high season rep level like they need all the help possible to win games over the supposedly inferior users with less badges and weaker attributes than them. They can afford to lose a few reasonably played games in order to balance it out to also make the casuals happy 2K, the hardcore will still be the shut-ins you want to spend VC on clothes and accessories while occupying your servers to shorten their lifespan in the process even if that type of loss can be initially rage-inducing.
    However, I did manage to get the game in early September for the first time since 2K17 with the Kobe Legend Edition cover. Personally, I have not enjoyed building a MyCareer like this for even longer since 2K16 with the MJ Legend Edition. They brought back and kept the old actors from previous 2K storylines for however long their 2-3 year contracts are. Although it was still not a pre-order year, it was a $70 investment towards the Digital Cross Gen version that thrives off the recently added Cross Progression and doesn't have a loud noise from Zion's physical disc that I had no problem waiting until it was on sale for $30 at Target. I'd give it a 8 but I do understand the negatives while pointing out the positives unlike these usual abhorrent 0 reviews acting like it's one of the worst 2K games in the series. That title belongs to 2K18 and 2K21 (both gens) which I can agree to a certain extent to ruthlessly disregard those two NBA years that was sloppily covered by Take-Two Interactive. Meanwhile, a shoutout to PA announcers for all 30 teams in all three aspects that is current, all-time, and even the missing historic players for the classic teams. Can we finally get more real licensed historical head coaches that aren't just whoever is currently coaching that's been in the league for that long? MyTeam is essentially nonexistent so far even with the new card grading service that acts as the video game equivalent of real-life PSA card grading and plentiful yearlong locker codes that I will take advantage of. There's no All-Star Team Up matchmaking at all on this console generation unless you're on the XBSX. It may just be a breath of fresh air from the health hazard of last year but at least I can breathe again playing a basketball game with slightly more than just a roster update.
    It's now S2 and I'm bored out of my life from the initial S1 hype when it comes to all aspects of online multiplayer. Review is going down from a 7 to a 6.    … Expand

For example, they made a new shot meter, which I think is way better than the last game’s shot meter. It is way easier to see and way easier to control. Last year, the game’s shot meter was small and hard to see. Also, I think NBA 2K22 is an actually playable game because NBA 2K21 was not fun.

On a PS5, they added new tweaks like 4K graphics, textures and lighting systems. If you look at the NBA Players’ graphics, they look almost exactly like them. You could compare the graphics from NBA 2K21 and see that they are way better.
    Lastly, NBA 2K22 is a good game because of the price. The price is $60, which is the normal price of a video game. For the price of $80, you could get the Cross-Gen Digital Bundle. The Cross-Gen Digital Bundle comes with NBA 2K22 Current Gen, for the Xbox One and PS4, and NBA 2K22 Next Gen, for the Xbox Series X/S and the PS5. If you get the Cross-Gen Digital Bundle on PS5, you get to play both games. I think this is a good deal because you are getting 2 games for $80. For the price of $100, you could get NBA 2K22 Legends Edition. The legends edition comes with NBA 2K22, 100,000 Virtual Currency, Items for your MyPlayer, 10,00 MyTeam Points, and many more. I think this is a good deal because 100,000 Virtual Currency is $50, and you are getting 100,000 Virtual Currency for $40 and many more ingame things. I think the pricing of NBA 2K22 is good.

    In regular gameplay nothing nex except shooting bar is broken even more. Didn't make to play basketball in career mode. Seems there is skateboard instead of basketball. It's a shame I must return to 2K21 after a year cause it's much better than new instance. :(

    Complete garbage. They said its about defense now and they weren't kidding. I had a wide open fast break and a guard caught up from behind to barely get near me and it stopped him from laying it up. This is the worst game i have ever played and 2K as a franchise is over.

    Ive owned the game for 3 weeks and its worked for 1 week. I only play myteam and it is littered with error codes. Sent a request to 2k support which is now 12 days and no reply. When the game does work its a game of jump shots as the sprint button barely makes a difference. A very very poor effort for a new release

Your player starts with a cutscene and then goes on about their day as they meet people and get quests to do to up their "MVP stats" to try and up their place that they live at. They ,along with their friend Ricky, then get set to tackle College (no High School this year) and potentially the G League as MP tries to make it big in the NBA.

    Now here is the thing: The "Prologue" (we'll call it that even though there is none really this year) is typically the "Rookie Difficulty" of the game where players can get some badges before they get to the NBA. Well for some reason Da_Czar decided we needed to go back to 2K21 on PS4's defense which was one of the toughest ever. I'm not sure why because on Pro you would think they would make it a little bit easier but then again this is a pure legacy issue with the game. Since Rookie difficulty is not included in MyCareer (but is in "The W") you run into the problem where players will stand around doing not a whole lot and when you would hope for a screen...there is none. It's literally the weirdest thing to see in a game because for some whom is a "Sim Gamer" you would think the balance would be even

    Why is it that on Pro there wasn't the same attention to Defense for your CPU teammates?
    Why is it that ,unless you play a PG or a Center the CPUs won't come to help you?

    These are the questions that need to be asked of the devs because the fact that they neglected the Offense this badly is kind of funny. They made the CPU overpowered on the lowest difficulty but your team can't help you for some reason.

    But this is the "Balance" the "community" wanted right?

    Now...I said its not all bad!

    The City is one of the most fun parts of the game...full stop! There are quests to do to get "MVP Points" but these don't help in getting you leveled up. Instead these will help you (eventually) get to the Penthouse in the sky but you need about 1 Million points to get that. Not hard actually but it can be tedious considering that a good portion of that will come from playing in the actual NBA against a tough as nails defense in MyCareer.

    The biggest frustration (and apologies for editorializing) is that the score that I am giving along with a lot of others definitely shows a disconnect and its going to grow unfortunately because the Devs will never listen to the common player (or as they call them "casuals"). It's a shame too because the reality is (and no one wants to tell them this trust me) that the casual player is the base audience. The "Sim Heads" don't make up the vast majority of the game. I can typically spend about...oh 6 hours playing MyCareer most years but this year has been a struggle in week 1!.

    We know they won't fix the A.I, or the Pro level Defense...I'm aware of this but the problem is the more they listen to the "community" the more the game is going to suffer. That is a fact and its one they need to realize...FAST!    … Expand

    The actuall basketball gameplay is more frustrating than it ever was in earlier editions (2k11-2k16). Very rarely feel in control in any situation other than an Iso on offense. Defense is ridiculously overpowered. Game feels very arcadey. It gets a 1 because this is a step up from last years instalment. However I have major frustrations playing it.

    I think 2k has taken a real step forward this year. Obviously it's not perfect but the gameplay is excellent this year. My only complaints is the rising inflation of prices to upgrade your player or buy clothes and the server instability.

I've watched several guides on youtube how to do it and it won't help. Even reinstallation did not help! This ugly monster was on first screen of career mode! My worst way of spending money on game!

    The sink meter is an absolute travesty . Instead of actually looking at what you are doing, they make you stare at a tiny circle and the timing is harder than the shot meter.     As someone who plays mostly offline, I enjoy the fun of myNBA, myCareer and other modes. My main go-to is myNBA and trying to take the worst team and making them the best by building up the youth and trying to make a blockbuster trade if possible. All that to say, I enjoy playing offline and against the computer.     Shooting has become incredibly difficult this year and even more when you're on the move. Close outs on open shooters have made shots even tougher if you don't have pinpoint accuracy on the new shooting system. Even then the defense can highly affect the shot meter and make shots in the past editions impossible to make this year. Don't even get me started on layups! The mechanics in general are a bit messed up especially with fast breaks, player speed and quickness when running.

    Defense alone has been the major issue. I'm not sure how anyone gets past subpar defenders this year let alone some of the most elite defenders in the league. I know one of the things I thought was cool was the ability to block more shots this year. However, that quickly faded when I'm constantly getting blocked in the paint from some help side big that in reality wouldn't be able to make a play on the ball or my player decides to put themselves in a position to be blocked rather than get an easy bucket.

    Simply put the gameplay this year is pretty bad and not enjoyable after a certain point. You can sugarcoat it at times and certain elements are fun. But I believe the focus for this year's game has been defense and stopping player speed from being a serious advantage online. This resulting in the gameplay being incredibly unrealistic along with not very enjoyable most of the time.    … Expand

    Really fun game, has a bunch of content offline and online. It lacks a bit of optimization but overall it's pretty good.

    Every aspect of the game is just to make money. I miss the days when it was actually about making it fun for everyone that just buys the game. The base game should be for free at this point.

    Great game, amazing graphics and gameplay. Can block, steal and alley oop and pace feels closer to real life. Card collecting system is addictive and can play without paying extra.

    Worst 2k game ever. Studio pays a lot of attention to everything surrounding basketball but unfortunately not to gameplay itself. Waste of money.

    I can't take away that the graphics are getting even nicer and realistic than before. BUT, playing in Europe, the online servor are horrible and make the game unplayable. Also, the VC system is really killing the MyCareer Mode where either you pay to get a 99 rated player either you don't pay and take a tremendous amount of time to make your stats rise. Please do something.

    STAY AWAY FROM 2K, absolutely terrible customer service, one of the in game features was broken after I had spent over 200k vc on a player, support wouldn’t give me any time table when it would fixed, and wouldn’t transfer my vc to another character. This is over half a year since launch and the game is still broken.     This game is a so called rpg but every quest is a fetch quest where you have to run slowly around a big city just to talk to someone and then they send u somewhere else too talk to someone different just to hear some of the worst dialog in video games

    NBA 2K22 offers very good gameplay mechanics, but the series’ focus on simply playing basketball is fading. In the story mode, the developers experiment with open world and put too much emphasis on side activities related to sponsors. As a result, the city in NBA 2K22 is a one big advertising billboard. Willingness to try new things is generally commendable, but this is not the way to do it. [12/2021, p.63]

    NBA 2K22 maintains the consistent quality of the series, but some of the old problems of the previous game and the unchanging game mode also makes the game experience lack of surprise.

    2K Games and Visual Concepts can finally breathe : NBA 2K22 is the episode of reconciliation. With a Career mode which has been enriched and is gradually transformed into a Second Life game with sport (be careful with off-topic anyway), the MyTeam mode which includes the Seasons system and gameplay which tends even more towards simulation, NBA 2K22 is clearly a really good game.
